But the master sword isn't needed anymore after the RBA sequence anyways, or is it? And I thought there was a problem with the run, but it seems your new sequence break can just be used on v1.2 and everything will go smoothly. You wrote on your youtube account that it would only be useful if a way was found to cross the bridge without ISG. But using v1.2 solves that problem?

Oh, thanks. That sounds quite fast actually. What are the downsides of using v1.2 then? I guess it may take a few seconds longer to steal the rod, but other than that?

Sorry, this may be totally stupid, but can't you just equip the sword, cross the bridge, then do bottle B again? Would it really cost that much time considering the fact that you can reach the lake very quickly from the bridge? Of course it would look silly though. How quickly can you get deku sticks on B after doing RBA in v1.2? I only know that one way is to go and talk to Talon. (iirc this also gives you deku sticks on B if you already have a bottle on B) The don't steal Epona glitch is also out of the question because it's obviously slower than just using Epona to cross the gap. If we didn't steal the rod at all, but got deku stick on B while stealing Epona, then did some RBA stuff, then used her to cross the gap, how fast would that be? x_x

Take the test here. It's fun. The following sentences contain spoilers for the test: I've answered all of the questions honestly and am surprised at how low I've scored considering the fact that I've got a light saber in my room, lol. Also, I had just solved a math puzzle that had been posted on these boards before I took the test, but still got a very lowish science/math nerd score. I'm familiar with lots of programming languages, own a comic book collection and have just finished reading a book that's longer than 300 pages a few days ago. All of that makes me kind of wonder how somebody could achieve a high score on this test. x_x

You could turn "25" into "7" (that's the number I got) Thanks, DaTeL237. This problem was fun. ^^

I don't think so. If I understand it correctly, you'd have to find a way to roll on the spot close to the edge, which is something that ISG enables you to do. Or find another way to do that megaflip on the closest spot to the edge possible. Or another way to damage boost yourself over the gap. I know you can roll on the spot after rolling into a wall if you roll again quickly. Although I don't think this can be used here, there may be other ways to execute it. (Also, it may be that it's just the animation without it really having the properties of a normal roll)

The music maybe, the singing sounds awful.
Yea, the guitar playing. The singing is just for laughs. The video made me smile because the performance is so ridiculously funny cause everything is so exaggerated. And that comes paired with some amazingly good guitar play. It's not meant to be taken serious! It's just for entertainment, I mean they're not even a band. I'm amazed with how many people who I've shown this to didn't get the joke. Probably it's because it's not common for skilled European or American guitarists to ridicule their music. For (most of) Japanese metal it has always been like this. It's somewhat of a tradition. I feel like having shown you a video of Laurel & Hardy and then people complain that they are acting stupid and unrealisticly. Edit: Well, he's acting as if he was serious, but everybody knows he isn't. That's what makes it funny.

You can also roll the die twice, then subtract 1 from the first roll, multiply the result with 6, and then add the second roll. See? There's no need for 36-sided dice at all! If you want a 30-sided one, just reroll if the first throw gets you a 6! I've been told you can use similar magic to replace 216-sided ones as well, but I guess it's just rumors..

Isn't it obvious that they look ridiculous on porpuse? I mean, what should they do to make it more obvious? o_o That doesn't change the fact that they're also ridiculously good though. However, the kid in your video beat them by lengths, lol.

Cheesy japanese metal with angelic wing guitars and epic solos!! For those annoyed by the singing, a truly epic solo session starts at around 5:00. You'll miss out on some of the solos in the middle though, lol. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E62qGtnx1_A&fmt=18

Those 3 sided ones may seem like what I had in mind (it's hard to tell by those pictures), but the 5-sided ones don't have equal faces. it's 2 triangles + 3 rectangles.
The company claims they provide equal access to all faces though.

They seem to be selling some here. Some questions about magic squares (where every number can only be used once) that have been bothering me for a while: 1) How can you solve them by using logic without brute forcing and without using algorithms for which you can't explain why they work? 2) Is there a formula to which you give n and x, where n is the size of the magic square and x the number of the single square within the big square, that will return the number you have to fill in that square? There has to be something like that..

I like the idea to remove the content that's identical with the Knuckles run. It would have been cooler to just allow starting from sram then though.

Beat it with -32 lives now and I don't know if I'll ever play it again. The last two levels are a bitch. But it was fun, so thanks. ^^

Could somebody please check if my "solution" is right and if it's wrong tell me what's the problem with it? I'm interested in finding out. I have no clue of higher math, but put some thought in it.

Derakon, I think the case of being at 5 throws is more complicated than you expected, as there are 3 different scores that could lead the bully to extend the game to 5 throws. @Baxter - I don't get how your notation of Ls and Ws works. Could you explain it to me or fix it?

It seems like there's a 1/2 chance that it lasts one round, a 1/8 chance, that it lasts three rounds and a 1/16 chance that it lasts five rounds. 5/128 that it lasts eight rounds. 1/32 that it lasts nine rounds. o_o This is weird. I really don't get the system behind this. On average it could be that it lasts infinite rounds because even if there's a 99% that it lasts 1 round and 1% that it lasts for infinite rounds, the average is infinite rounds. (1*infinity+99*1)/100. If the chance to get infinite rounds is infinitely low, that's another thing. I'm not sure if that's the case here. The chance that it lasts for infinite times is lower 25% at least. Should be even lower. I'd say calculating the probability that it lasts for an infinite amount of times would be interesting, but I'm not able to do it. Probability to end at: Best of one: 1/2 Best of three: (1 - BO1 winning probability) * 1/2 (to get even then) * 1/2 (to win after that) Best of five: (1 - BO1 winning probability - BO3 winning probability) * (probability to get even) * 1/2 Probability to get even - for 0-3, for 1-3, for 2-3 => probability to get into that situation * probability to get even in that situation => 1/(2 to the power of 3) * 1/(2 to the power of 3) + 1/(2 to the power of 4) * 1/(2 to the power of 2) + 1/(2 to the power of 5) * 1/(2 to the power of 1) Best of seven: (1 - BO1 winning probability - BO3 winning probability - BO5 winning probability) * probability to get even * 1/2 Probability to get even - for 0-5, 1-5, 2-5, 3-5, 4-5 => 1/(2 power 5) * 1/(2 power 5) + 1/(2 power 6) * 1/(2 power 4) + 1/(2 power 7) * 1/(2 power 3) + 1/(2 power 8) * 1/(2 power 2) + 1/(2 power 9) * 1/(2 power 1) Probability to get even for best of X: a = 1, b = 2X - 1, c = 0 do c += 1/(2 power a) * 1/(2 power b) a++; b--; until a > b Probability to end at best of X: a = X; b = 1; while not a == 1 a -= 2 b -= Probability to end at best of a continue c = b * Probability to get even for best of X * 1/2 Probability to end the game at all = Probability to end at best of "lowest uneven number smaller than infinity" lol, I don't get it (yet?). You'd probably have to turn my stuff into a formula and use a limes or whatever it's called. That is if I haven't screwed up. I suck at the language of math, so I can't write down a formula for it. xD I hope I didn't make any huge mistakes. It could be I've made one, I'm too lazy to think through the whole thing a second time though. :P

Soulseek? Isn't it basically useless now? Ever since people have started using Bittorrent all good people seem to have left. :/

Downloaded it from here and it worked. Didn't try the other link though. Using Vista. Edit: Beat it, all __eight__ levels. I didn't find it as easy as the OP though. Had around -1350 lives when I finally made it. Lots of deaths where caused by lag and for some reason the game didn't always register my pressing of the jump button (for the short jumps). That leads me to believe that other button presses couldn't have been registered any better, so that should have caused some random screw-ups. But it would have been hard even if it wasn't for that imo. Maybe it's only my laptop's fault though. Beat it with -46 lives now. I guess I just needed a little practice. Also, pirate_sephiroth's link leads to a version that has less stages than the one I've played and is thus a lot easier. I recommend downloading the version I've played if you're looking for more of a challenge. Sorry for bolding this. >_>

One thing I remember about control stick spinning was that there was a saying that if your skin came off and there was blue-ish flesh below, it meant you were gay. I was quite glad to see a very shiny pinkish red on my hand when it happened for the first time. Only God knows where I'd be now, had it been blue. :/

Well, I'm sure somebody who cared enough could dig up a really screwed up statement by a famous scientist. Luther's real quote goes somewhat like this btw: "Reason is the greatest enemy that faith has: it never comes to the aid of spiritual things, but--more frequently than not --struggles against the divine Word, treating with contempt all that emanates from God." Reason makes you doubt (the stuff the he knew/believed was true), that's what he's saying imo. Lots of religious leaders say stuff like "Try it out for yourself. Do an experiment, and try praying to the Lord. Try if it makes you feel anything." and stuff along those lines. This is my last post on this subject (for now), I'm not in the mood for pointless discussions, I just wanted to point out bias. Also "Reason must be deluded, blinded, and destroyed. Faith must trample underfoot all reason, sense, and understanding, and whatever it sees must be put out of sight and ... know nothing but the word of God. ", but whatever. Those quotes are besides the point anyway.
