At 8:27, you shot a bullet. While that's not killing a normal enemy, I'm not sure if it breaks the rules of pacifism. This could be avoided by picking up the health right before and taking damage through that narrow corridor.

Wrong warp warps you to another place in the game, and you're still playing the game until the end. Glitching to the credits......glitches to the credits.

Wow. Not quite the climactic end that FFI White Mage only had, but good nonetheless. Still a little torn cuz most of the run is boring until the end, so I'm going with meh.

Or perhaps some of us have much better hearing than we have proper eyesight.
Haha, when I watch YT vids, I lean forward and squint a little at 240p/360p instead of making it bigger or full screen w/ higher res.

While Stereo is better, mono doesn't subtract that much from the value and enjoyment in the game to warrant the movie not being a star, imo--especially considering that it would affect luck manip, according to the author. Hammer Bros have different patterns, so sometimes Adelikat kills one on the bottom and sometimes he doesn't. So what's the ETA for max score and max lives?

Not entertaining--far less enjoyable than the NES version. If it must, Vault it.

KwyjiboPrime: but this run has a different goal than p4wn3r's video. He beats the game as fast as possible, while I reprogram the game.
Yeah, I just saw the video now and realized that the time was off. If it were 5 secs, then it would've definitely obsoleted the current. Anyway, I'm a little torn about this run. I don't think that anyone will dispute the high quality for the technical aspect. But, the entertainment aspect is another question. On the one hand, you have that special screenshot at the end and the idea of hacking the game is astounding. On the other hand, that's 12 min of mind-numbing waiting time for the reprogram and then the screenshot. The goal is something akin to a playaround, since it doesn't satisfy the S in TAS. I wish I could vote maybe for entertainment.

Well, this should just replace the currently published movie, as that is pretty messed up (in a good way) too. Just like any other glitched run. Looking forward to watching this during my lunch break.

Yeah, I thought as much. I tried googling to see if it was anywhere, since I don't have the game on hand. Thanks. Stylistically, I don't like the idea of damaging enemies unless it's necessary (manipulation). However, that's not enough to deter me from voting Yes for moon. Since Soig cancelled and seems quite ill-tempered, maybe you can improve on this, Heidman, as you stated before. Good luck.

I noticed that by the start of Level 8, you have 2k more pts than Heidman. Where does this come from?

Well done indeed. Yes for moons! I always like pacifist runs in games like these. Especially liked how you abode the rules to the fullest extent with no killing bullets and minimum bubbles destroyed when moving down on Area 7, I think.

Hahah, yeah, that's not much of a war. Reminds me of when I play Civilization on Chieftain, and I send my tanks to fight phalanxes.

Since no one is active on irc at 8:40 (utc+1), please read this: <MESHUGGAH>someone from the higher tier? 3752S doesn1t uses highest difficulty and also doesn't improves the gameplay, I have a 56 frames faster and still can be improved much more <MESHUGGAH>but I feel it awkward that I vote yes for entertainment and basicly write down why it doesn't should be pubished And I think that choosing south could be faster because you can use the "green" level which is the fastest imo (you just have to go down once with the horses and rush the enemy while other levels needs to get the horses to up and down for the horses and the artillery).
If that's true, then JWinslow, you need to use the most difficult setting.

Where a game has multiple difficulty levels, it is preferred to play on the hardest difficulty level (for more interesting gameplay) unless the only difference between difficulty levels is enemy/boss hit points, in which case the easiest difficulty levels are preferred in the interest of speed.
Also, friendly reminder to make use of the Edit button for posts, hehe. As for the run itself, I vaguely recall the currently published one, and it seemed not too entertaining, so it'd prob go to the Vault. Will hold off voting until I can access the encode.

Bad controls may be a challenge, but that doesn't make things impossible. Needs some unreasonable challenge in the game. Voting No.

What makes this game unreasonably challenging? IMO, that is a necessary criteria for acceptance.

Because of the encode. It's 30 fps. Normally they're visible.
Atari 2600 runs at 60fps? Also, voting no. Looked like just ordinary gameplay to me. Nothing extraordinary here.
Ditto. No for bad game choice.

That is where we differ greatly on opinion. I think a TAS of a speedrun should be as fast as possible, that is the goal to complete, if you complete it then it should suffice. Sure you can rate the entertainment value as very low but that is not the idea behind a speedrun. It would be a shame to not let through a submission and not document how fast the game can be completed if it is not fun to watch.
If that were the criteria, then you would also have to accept runs such as $1499 and $1501 Monopoly and Fisher Price games.
Please give me a link to these game before bringing them up in the discussion.
Or, you could likewise search for them in the forum. They are all recent Gruefood submissions. Here's one of them: http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=13355

How does one normally beat this game, and what glitch or method is being used to beat it faster? It's not clear.
From Wikipedia:
The player(s) takes control of the DC Comics character Superman, who must repair the bridge destroyed by Lex Luthor, capture Luthor and his criminal underlings, enter a phonebooth to turn back into Clark Kent, then return to the Daily Planet in the shortest amount of time. To slow Superman's progress, Kryptonite has been released by Luthor. If hit by Kryptonite, Superman loses his abilities to capture criminals and fly. To regain them, he must find and kiss Lois Lane.
The glitch I abused involves pausing the game, which after a while, goes into this "Demo" mode where it loops through the whole game (kinda like a preview of it). If you move, normally, it would unpause the game and put you back to where you were. But if you were on a door, it glitches and allows you to enter. I take the subway (yes, that's what the yellow room is) and go to the daily planet to end the game. Note: if the bridge collapse is triggered, you can't win by going to the daily planet. You must do all that crap I listed instead.
I think all A2600 games should require their full descriptions on the game, mechanics, normal gameplay, and actual gameplay/abuse in the submission text. This will help the author(s) argue for publication. I have a feeling that several of the voters are voting without having any experience or prior knowledge of this or similar games. So without an appropriate description, it becomes harder for the audience to fairly judge/vote on primitive games.

Voting yes. It's way better than the other two atari submissions we've had so far. I think if this gets published, i might rate it a 1.5 for entertainment.
Raiders had an amusing attempt at music. Also, there was a clear ending to that game. ET had less of a noticeable ending. And this one even less.

I was curious too, so I tried. Took me about 3 minutes to figure out what the "route" was, and 2 tries to successfully execute it. So the glitch itself is easy to pull off. I gave it about 5 emulator unassisted tries and my best was about 780 frames (about 100 frames slower than this submission). As for trrying to reproduce this time unassisted, there's really only 3 moments to time since you can hold down as the game boots up. From there you just have to press right immediate upon getting in the phone booth, and select shortly after (thats a switch on the console, that will be tricky). Then you have to press left at the right frame. Once you begin walking, it is easy to move diagonally to touch the ending block. If you give a skilled human about 1-4 frames of variance for reflexes, then a good human should reasonably do this run within about .2 seconds from the TAS time.
This would be the biggest reason for me giving a No vote. But I'm abstaining.

I think it should be an award now. Although I'd rename it to something else, and I leave it to your imagination as to what I'm thinking, hahaha. EDIT: And This here is chatroom talk. Use the edit feature to minimize posts, especially back-to-back. It's just netiquette.
