Isn't Mario Paint just a painting/composing program? Plus the bug squatting game, for which there already is a TAS, I think. What would a TAS of Mario Paint aim for?

Even though you say you didn't aim for absolute fastest completion, it ate me up inside when you didn't collect all special weapons even though they spawned right next to you. I especially didn't like the way you disregarded the blue balls that double the amount of bullets you can shoot. I think those would've improved the entertainment value as well as the time of the movie. It also bugged me how you collected some prizes and cash but not everything, even though you could've done so without wasting any time. I gotta say I loved your boss battle and it was extremely satisfying to see Scarface owned so quickly. Couldn't decide what to vote so I didn't. I will vote later.

It's short (easy to encode and review) and an obvious improvement to a popular game. So why not?

The bonus stages you talk about aren't actual levels but more like mini-games, so it's okay not to visit them.

Woah, spezzafer's back! This is the best news I've had in a decade! I really hope you can finish your run. I tried to make a run myself but I just couldn't replicate any of your movements without watching your movie frame by frame.

I guess I'm the only here who thinks that it was a good move to remove S3&K's star. Both published versions of the run are quite boring to me. It's pretty interesting in the beginning but it's just too damn long. I haven't played the game, but a starred movie should have kept me in its grasp regardless. I haven't watched the Sonic 2 runso I can't comment on that aspect. I'm also glad that MM5 got MM1's star. A lot of the fascination of these videos for me come from the impossible maneuvers and impressive stunts the player pulls. However, if I don't know that a certain trick is hard to pull of from my own experience, it just doesn't seem that impressive. The point I'm trying to make here is that watching the MM1 and MM2 runs has nothing to do with how I played the game back when I was a kid. It doesn't seem like the same game anymore. I enjoy watching Morimoto's original MM2 movie a lot more than the current glitched out one.

I definitely like this run more than the MM1 and MM2 runs. I think using the super arrow makes for a lot more entertaining run than using the magnet beam or other such items to just zoom through the levels. To me using the super arrow looks a lot more impressive. I'm not sure if I would give this run a star, but I'd definitely give it a star rather than MM1/MM2.

I've collected all the emeralds many times but I've never seen an ending like the one /*- described. In my experience the ending is always the same.

How can it be a GB game when it's run in FCEU?

Indeed. A complete 100% run would be the greatest thing ever, period. I can't imagine a run that would look cooler. It's a crying shame that spezzafer didn't continue his run.

I have been working on this for some. I might have a run ready for you in about 4 years. I have to tell you, spezzafer is my hero for completing any kind of movie for this game. YI is a hell of a game to do a TAS on.

I'm trying something else right now but I encourage everyone else to participate in this. I would also suggest to adelikat that instead of using a "!" in the list, use bold or italic, because the "!" isn't that easily noticeable.

If you can encode movies, I think you should become an encoder for the site (that way the judges could accept more movies than they can encode) instead of just re-encoding already published movies. Or is there a reason why not?

Anyone else have trouble applying the Metroid Legacy patch? I'm using the regular JU rom, and the IPS applies successfully....but I get a bad checksum and the game goes blank as soon as it gets into the game itself.
This is happening to me too. Same thing with Limit. After the intro the screen just stays black and there is no sound at all.

Don't forget that especially black metal and the stuff that has spawned from it has long roots in Scandinavia (Norway). By some people's definitions, it's the only place it was ever created in (and the assumption these people make, of course, is that genuine black metal is long dead).

The fact that their later work is crap doesn't change the fact that Dark Requiems.... And Unsilent Massacre is an awesome album. I don't like Kings of Chaos (or whatever the name was) either.

No one has mentioned Hecate Enthroned yet. Is it just not so well-known or don't people like it? All of you metal guys should check it out, they have an awesome sound. In addition to Hecate Enthroned, I like Cradle of Filth (Dusk, Vempire and Cruelty albums), Dimmu Borgir (Spiritual Black Dimensions and Enthrone Darkness Triumphant), Graveworm, At the Gates, Dark Tranquillity (Damage Done is awesome), Stormlord, Emperor, Immortal and a crapload of less important bands. Nowadays I listen mostly to game music and classical though, especially FF piano collections and Chopin and Vivaldi. .NSFs are also always cool to listen to, as are some VGMixes (don't care for OCRemix too much).

This was some blindingly fast action! A prime example of "takes damage to save time" and an obvious yes vote.

Right now I just sleep, work and eat. I live with my girlfriend so I also spend a lot of time just hanging out with her. If I sometimes have any free time I spend it by watching TV serie like Babylon 5, Lost, SG-1 etc. Once I've completed my civilian service (which is basically just 13 months of work with no pay) I'll start studying to become an English teacher at the university of Helsinki.

Don't worry, the movie isn't worth watching anyway since it just zooms through walls and straight to the exit.

I think the prestige of the rank Ninja will start to fade if many more people are granted the title. I think Nitsuja should get at least some recognition of his work other than the undying gratitude of everyone on this forum, but I'm not so sure about JXQ or FODA.

I would consider the things he has done with all the emulators exactly that.

I'm totally with you here. Nitsuja makes absolutely awesome movies in seemingly no time and he still continues to improve FCEU, Snes9x, VBA, Mupen 64 and recently even Gens (I think). Nitsuja for Ninja!

It's not just about whethe the movie IS improvable or not, it's also about if it LOOKS improvable. I don't think my Megaman 6 run looked all that bad, it's just that more creative solutions which make the movie even faster are constantly found. Another thing is that standards change. When Sleepz made his Little Nemo run a little less than two years ago there was no frame advance or even FCEU. Hell, I'm not sure if Famtasia had the 60fps patch back then. The movie was considered to be pretty good back then. Also, there was no huge submission queue back then, which made it easier for Bisqwit to notice and review (and of course publish) every single movie more carefully.

I wonder why the author hasn't cancelled this submission. How about someone just reject this due to it being incomplete and very suboptimal?
