Faerie Walnuts do cost 1000gp and later you can get them for 500. Most merchants don't even sell them, but IMO it'd be easier to get them from chests. Forcing the drops would save a lot of time when compared to collecting money. IMO magic should be leveled a bit. Some bosses just don't take decent damage if your magic hasn't passed a certain limit. Leveling magic is fast, though, and the only place where I can see it being long and boring is before the Mana Fortress (IIRC at least Lumina and Dryad should be quite high when entering the Fortress. Perhaps Shade, too?) Making a run of SoM would probably be very, VERY tedious because the other two characters you are not controlling tend to get stuck in corners and get themselves killed all the time. If you are just running past all the enemies I'd say it's nearly impossible to avoid the other two getting hit or stuck at all. EDIT: I just remembered the invincibility barrels. Perhaps they would solve a part of this problem. Then again, they are very rare and costly, and IIRC can't be dropped by monsters. This leads us to the first problem again. You would have to use the barrels often, because they disappear when you use magic or a weapon. This would probably mean at least after every boss. I don't remember whether the barrels stay when leaving an area and entering another.

Ah yes the Ancient Cave. I have yet to see anything like that in any other RPG.

IMO the music is better than in any Final Fantasy, I love the ending and the whole plot. It doesn't have that much optional stuff to do after the main plot like in Final Fantasies, but it has some good puzzles and stuff. Plus there are no random encounters in dungeons, you can see the monsters like in Chrono Trigger. The world map still has them though. It also has these "capsule monsters" which act a bit like GFs in FF8. Limit breaks are in, too. All in all you can never learn to like it by just reading this, you've got to play it.

Lufia 2: Rise of the Sinistrals for the SNES. This is my absolute favorite rpg of all time. The series is also known as Estopolis Denki I think. EDIT: And Terranigma is great too, although a bit straightforward with the plot.

I can't see anything wrong with the way Famtasia emulates this game. What sort of problems have you experienced?

At least some time ago the title "Active player" was granted when you had created at least one published timeattack and had a certain amount of posts. It might be that this has been changed so that you must now have a certain amount of published timettacks. It might also be that the post limit has been changed.

I am opposed to this as well for reasons already mentioned.

You can skip Shades? That's cool, I never knew that. The only problem that comes to mind is are you sure you're going to manage the jumps on the enemies over the lava pits (before the armored cat) without him? What I liked about your vid was that you skipped Freeon-Leon's secret weapon alltogether and your route was good. What you should improve, IMO, are the boss battles in the beginning. When fighting Freeon-Leon and Gil, be sure that they are flashing at all times, thus beating them in the shortest amount of time possible. I would also like to see more enemies killed. I believe it's possible to kill the enemies in a way that does not slow you down. I will test this soon. Overall your movie was very good, and all that I wanted a bit more was skillful (and less skillful) tricks. Even little things, like bouncing the "heads" (that you shoot bosses with) off walls and that sort of thing.

Well, a logo would perhaps be a nice touch but I like the site like it is now. It's very light and clear and easy to use. I wouldn't like to see more graphics.

Just checked out that run. It was surprisingly entertaining and I didn't want to skip anything except those autoscrolling levels. I think it's good that it was almost timeattackish with its 53 parts because the player had the possibility of perfecting all the levels. I now see that a timeattack could very well be fun to watch. Don't know if it should only be for fastest completion though..

Yeah well, Yoshi's Island is a pretty easy game, and it's not very hard to just breeze through it at full speed without collecting any items without savestates or slowdown. I think the game is at its best with secreat areas and bonus rooms, and most of the fun is finding them. I don't mean to be negative and I'm sure I'd watch a timeattack of this game with great interest anytime. But I don't think this would be as interesting as for example Super Mario World or SMB3, because they can be completed in a very short time and thus you can perfect every single movement without having to do a huge amount of work.

I'm still not quite sure if it would be interesting. It's quite a long and straightforward game, and I think it falls into the category of games that are much more fun to play than to watch. I can't think of any cool timesaving tricks that would save time or anything. But if you're gonna do it, I think it should definitely be only for fastest completion and not for the points. That would take way too long and be quite boring.

Have you guys checked out the NESkimos? Their remixes of old nes game themes can be found here. Quite many of them are boring or slow and they don't start off very interestingly, but there are some great ones too. Check out at least Woodman from Mega Man 2. EDIT: I'm not certain if you needed to register or something before you can get your hands on those songs though. Well at least I haven't gotten any spam or anything from them, so I'd say it's safe.

The point of these videos has nothing to do with skill, and no timeattack maker would think he is something special because he can do extraordinary stuff using slowdown and save states. Is it so impossible for you to understand that some people like myself could enjoy watching these videos? If you do not find these videos entertaining, that's your problem. Why does it bother you that someone likes something you do not? You seem like an intelligent enough person, and I trust you have read all the "whyhow" pages Bisqwit's site has. Please read them again and this time consider thinking about the content.

Be sure to get the newest hack from the vending machine. Just check all boxes if you're unsure.

I looked at the times of the first half of the run (that's all I had time for right now) and they were pretty much the same as Michaels. Some levels apparently can't be done any faster.

ZSNES 1.36 has been known to have desync problems with long videos, while the older versions (for ex the 0.989c) do not suffer from this problem Rerecording SNES emulators already exist, but I think none have yet been officially published. They are very close to that point though. I have had the privilige of testing one of these emulators, and I have already successfully created an SMW timeattack. New versions are being published and bugs are being squashed as I am writing this, and I think we'll be making groovy SNES vids in no time.

I got it from Deviance and I just finished watching it. I think you have done a good job with this vid. I haven't played Battletoads very much myself so it's hard to say anything specific. The crow thingie was nice although it seems that the game stops scrolling for a fraction of a second every time you hit one. But entertainment comes first, right? The fights looked pretty slow after seeing the 2 player version, but I guess it can't be helped. Overall it was a very nice timettack and I'd let it supplement Genisto's and Phil's video anytime.

Yeah, same here. But other people say it's working. Guess I'll just ask them to send it.

Still can't get it to work. If I do as you say, it'll only save the forbidden.html. Anyone else want to comment?

Have you tried using the Balloon tool in MM4 like Morimoto uses the "1" tool in MM2? They're very similar and I think it's definitely worth a try.

Watched the FMV. I was a little disappointed by the regular stages. I would have liked to see more special weapon usage. Also, the Centaur Flash wasn't used outside of fighting Wind Man. It seems so useful. Do it actually suck?
Well switching weapons always takes time and C.Flash also has a small lag when used. And I don't think using it would look very skillful either. I don't think there were any places where I could have saved time using it. As for the regular stages, yeah they were pretty boring and I may have concentrated too much on time. The Mega Buster is fast and as I said weapon switches take time. What sucks about this game is that it's boring, as kopernical said. Especially the bosses.

Chirst, that's fast. And for the life of me, I can't understand how you pull off that second room fo Flame Man. Everytime I do it like you, the cannon fires before my bullets can reach it.
In the first version, I managed to do this on the second try and I didn't realize that there was anything difficult to this trick. On my second version I couldn't get it to work either, but after over 1000 rerecords I got lucky. I still don't know why it didn't fire then. EDIT: Yeah, and thanks for all the comments :)
