Dropping by again after months of being radio silent... So I'm happy to tell that I'm continuing the Kolibri TAS by doing 1 or 2 hours of work on it each day like usual. So far I progressed through level 10, passing halfway of the entire game. But I also realized I forgot to tell one info here. During the making of the TAS I found a glitch that's very useful for gaining speed, which I dub "super burst". It works by bursting, of course, a few frames before colliding with certain enemies, particularly the large ones. The collision then makes the burst travel a way further distance, and even works when Kolibri is intangible. Something else I wish to announce is that after replacing the HDD on a laptop by an SSD, I'm now capable of using a more powerful machine than the one I previously used for TASing. It also runs on Linux, and yes, I managed to make BizHawk run on it.

There's this video which I'd like to show, in which I complete level 9 in the TAS. It was recorded a month ago, but now I'm halfway to the end of the game. Link to video

I found a 89 frame improvement by simply skipping past the Sega screen at the start, and all of your inputs sync perfectly after that first adjustment. Are you fine with me replacing your input file with the faster start? I would not add myself as co-author for this minor adjustment.
Wow, I didn't realize it was possible the whole time! Go ahead, I'm impressed that you found out about this. Thank you!

Your video link doesn't work since it's not from a video streaming site like YouTube. Please change the link if it's possible for you.
Oopsies... I thought it worked for others because I was able to view the Mega link via Incognito mode. Anyways, I've just uploaded the video to YouTube, and my submission should be edited by now.

A bit late to respond to this. I like the frenetic movement being done and I want to see what a completed run looks like. Nice work!
Thank you! :] And hey, I just resumed my work after 2 weeks of hiatus. This game is hella nightmarish to TAS...

I've just uploaded the first part of my WIP TAS. It lasts until the end of Level 8 and is 6 minutes and 13 seconds long. I may have to optimize all those levels to save a bit of time, which I'll get into later.

There is no actual guide how to find glitches. Not much people like messing around trying various tactics to see if they can clip through a wall, glide through a platform or some other possible glitch scenario. Most glitches are discovered by accident. When it comes to route planning, some people make first-try walkthroughs (also known as "TAS Test") to gather all the knowledge. For example, first 3 levels are played like normal, then on level 4 a new movement glitch was discovered, then on level 7 another one discovered or maybe some time saver is used. So, instead of replaying all the game again using discovered glitches, better routes and more skilled game mechanic usages, you can build the 1st version of your TAS to see, what improvements you can apply to your 2nd version, and if it's optimized, then it's time to submit your TAS on tasvideos. Of course, it's not mandatory. There are a lot of 1st-version TASes published here, because it can take quite a lot of time to beat the game again using some new discovery.
Okay, I was just worrying about trying to make my TAS as good as possible. Thanks!

Ahh yes Kolibri, where you're not sure if you're on drugs or the developers were
It was made by the same company behind Ecco, so I guess you could say they were the ones who were on drugs. I can't feel it myself :]

So far I am in the middle of Level 5, which is just an auto-scrolling one. The bad thing is that I actually had finished it once, but because I forgot about saving the branch, I lost all progress I made on it and must redo all of it. Now that I think of how long I took to get this far, maybe I should actually spend more time into it. I will try to clear 1 to 2 levels, then gather resources about tricks and glitches everyday. I will also play it regularly by myself to remember most of its details. A long time ago, as I was unable to figure out how to pass a level and relentlessly pushed into a wall, I accidentally clipped through it to finish the level. I don't remember how it was done.

.tasproj stores a lot of other data besides the input for maximum convenience and stability, but its automatic saving can be annoying because it freezes the emulator and you gotta wait for it to finish. It makes sense to save it manually, when you're ready to wait or when a solid peace of input is done. In the TAStudio window go to Config > Autosave > Set Autosave Interval and set it to "0" or some big number.
Oh, no wonder .tasproj files can't be compressed. Now that makes total sense XP

If you want to share a Bizhawk movie, in the TAStudio window go to File > Export to Bk2. The project file will create an input file, which is much smaller and easier to share. To share a movie, you can use our local repository. On the front page, scroll down to "Upload a User File" button and click it. Here's a shortcut. Fill in the form, press Upload and share the URL to your input file. There is also a custom tag for input files (called "userfile"), which is a better alternative to a URL. You can quote my post to see how it looks internally.
Taking note of it, thank you! Later I will upload a WIP of my TAS once I feel like enough progress is done. (Is it just me, or both of these userfile links are broken? I can't view them...)

Scrolling shooter game released in '95 for 32X. You control a hummingbird using several weapons to eradicate insects by shooting them from level to level. Here I created this topic a week after I started TASing Kolibri for people to share knowledge about the game such as glitches and tricks. My objective is to finish it at any percent, on easy difficulty and with the fastest movement speed. Currently I have yet to complete level 4, although I'm having a problem with the very large movie file I'm working on (over 100MB, TASPROJ type), which also makes saving even slower. If you wish to give me a hand, I can send the movie file to you (although I don't know exactly how collaborating in a TAS works). The game version I'm using is the USA/EUR version played at 60hz, and I'm making the TAS with BizHawk 2.8. This is also only my third forum post, so I hope this one stays appropriate to this site...

Today's the time I have created an account on TASVideos, after finally watching TAS videos for over a decade. Now is my opportunity to actually make my own ones... I watched TAS videos since 2011, starting with this classic SM64 16-star run (https://youtu.be/82TSWzOsPYc), when I was just 6 years old (yes, I had some knowledge of accessing the web on a PC). Nowadays I am almost 17.5, but I just realized I forgot that I'm also meant to submit a TAS for once. In fact, why shouldn't I do so to show how much I actually enjoy them in the first place? After all it has been my dream, ever since my childhood, and I know it will come true in the near future. However I'm not here to try to break any record (because it's right now difficult for me and there are always many talented TAS makers anyway). My goal here for now is to share runs of more obscure games that little to no people desire trying to make one of, and that way I can at least make a plenty of useful TASes. I would also like to use TAS just for playarounds rather than speedrunning. There's also nothing to worry about it; yesterday, after seeing only a few guides, I managed to make one of Donkey Kong on NES quickly. Keep in mind that I am a computer scientist :] Before you do talk to me, please remember that I am autistic and severely anxious. I just want to make sure I don't cause arguments with anyone, and I will try my best to behave here. Thank you for reading, have a nice day <3
