I remember a while ago there was some kind of debate about whether TASvideos was about collecting the fastest run on every game or about publishing entertaining movies. What was the 'result' of that debate? Movie same as every other 'classic' Castlevania on the site except with additional key gimmick that is amusing for one level and dull for the rest. Meh. At least it's prettier than the other classic ones.

Yes. If some kind of onscreen/verbal commentary can be included while there's just walking on the screen, this can be entertaining/informative all the time rather than just in the battles. Also the maps still have those mistakes I mentioned. :p

That's exactly what TASing should be about. Humiliating the game, and enjoying it.

I'm also vaguely in favour of this 'category'. For example, I'd like to see a video of say, Tactics Ogre: Knight of Lodis where it gets all the secrets and kills all the bosses in silly ways, etc. It wouldn't be 'the fastest possible' nor would it be funny as such, but it would be interesting. Not to mention you could do silly things like dodge the same attack 90 times in a row, etc. Certainly I'm not the only person on this site with this view, and arguing that "we should only do things most people want to see" is kind of missing the point.

if you change your character, you have to start the game from the first fight
Some people see this as a reason for this game to be a bad choice for TASing. You'll have to prove why it isn't with spectacular gameplay first. For example, in Mortal Kombat you can pick Shang Tsung and then transform into the other characters to make a quite varied TAS. It also helps that the game is full of bugs. If SFA3 is a lot less varying, perhaps it does not deserve a story-mode TAS? Edit: Now I've watched it. It's about the same as your previous one. Cody V-Ism sucks :p

you know occasionally there are some threads on fora that actually deserve to be replied to seriously, right ones that are important to the running of the site for instance i.e. this one be flippant elsewhere

Nice research, BoMF. I'm really looking forward to seeing more of this TAS.

Levelup stats are slightly random, yes. However, those slight gains level out with time... you might need to manipulate a few levels for specific gains needed for the next boss, but overall you will lose time as the game balances you out.

Wow, that game looks terrible. :) Like Mortal Kombat but without the nostalgia value.

Maybe you don't know what you're talking about? You so freely slap others with that label, but odds are you're just as stupid as everyone else on this forum. I'd like to consider myself as smarter than a fair portion of the populace, but maybe I just measure it differently. Or not at all. It's just intuition. Certainly isn't logical.

Absolutely what kirkq just said. Make it look like two gods are fighting each other; they'd only let their opponent hit if it amused them!

Oh, now it's "most people" :) I think that's enough of a victory to rest for the time being. It's certainly more thread unravelling than I'd hoped. Apologies, fearless leader. Edit: and i thought you said logic was innate to human beings, not "human beings who aren't retarded"

I'm not arguing 6 + 2 = 8. I'm arguing "man sees 8 fruit means he uses logic". The brain has many functions, and one of them is logic.

Uh. No. It was developed. We assume it is the only sensible way to represent things abstractly because it makes sense to humans (well, some of us). Every now and again mathematical thinking changes. Does that make all the old mathematical thinking wrong? I guess it could. Imagine a paradigm shift in the future that makes all the old logic we'd used incorrect. Mathematic concepts like arithmetic are also used by people who have absolutely no understanding of logic. I'm sure you could (and would) argue that they are somehow innately using logic. I dispute this claim. Instinct does many things for you.

Mathematics deals with logic. People deal with fuzzier concepts like "how I feel" and "what I want". If what they want is to group together then more power to them. You are not explaining anything.

I don't mean "has no logic", I mean "has faulty logic". Many systems have been designed including faulty logic, and continue to be designed and used today. They are apparently no less valid to the people who still follow and learn them.

Tell that to systems that are illogical.

I'm saying you don't need logic to form 'systems'. Imagine you are a primitive man, observing the sun rising and setting every day. You could logically say it makes sense to move around during the day when you can see better. You could also do it without making that logical leap, because it makes 'common sense', which is another thing entirely different from logic. I'm not denying logic has been and continues to be useful for rigour when needed. I'm saying it's not always needed.

Now you are confusing the issue. Logic is not addition. Neither is our innate 'sense of number'.

Interesting, I've been pushing for more of this sort of action a lot in fighting game movies. My argument goes something like "one god vs. one god can be more entertaining than one god vs. a flawed AI".
