Psxjin is a slightly better than PCSX-rr and is a fork of that. Enjoy this documentation while google code doesn't shut down for good: Quick tutorial: https://code.google.com/p/psxjin/wiki/QuickTutorial Lua API: https://code.google.com/p/psxjin/wiki/LuaScriptingFunctions Don't use it for TASes, because desyncs/crashes happen all the time, some games have graphical glitches and dumping a video can be a pain in the ass.
Thanks for those links, although I actually found them via google searches earlier. Unfortunately, they don't offer any solutions for the problems I'm having. And I'm not looking for a TAS emulator, as I mentioned earlier. I just want something that will play a game and has LUA support. Basically, like ePSXe with LUA support. And so far, PCSX-rr seems to be doing a better job than PSXjin, since the latter seems to freeze halfway through the splash screens when starting the game.
What are you on about? I am being helpful. I told you to use psxjin or alternately upgrade your laptop (well pc) to something that can run Bizhawk at 60fps.
What I mean is, you suggested with your "PCSX-rr and lua support in the same sentence, very funny" comment that PCSX-rr does not, in fact, have LUA support, or that the support is very suspect at best (and thus wouldn't actually do what I want it for). I basically have two criteria for the emulator here: 1: Plays games at normal speed fairly well (turbo/fast forward preferred but optional). 2: Can run basic LUA scripts. I was/am hopeful I can fix the PCSX-rr issue, because even if it's the most inferior emulator being discussed here, from what I've seen it runs fine, but if it does indeed have serious issues running LUA scripts, then it's a moot point to me.

Lancet, BizHawk frequently gets upgraded to be better and less intensive on peoples' machines. If the last version you tried was < 1.11.x, you might want to consider upgrading and trying again. If not, you might be stuck using your subpar emulator that doesn't want to pay attention to your input.
I tried the version that was released in the past few months. 1.11.3 or something. It ran so horribly I may as well not be playing a game at all. All I want is a PSX emulator that can run basic LUA scripts. I'm not looking to make TAS videos or anything like that, and I only joined here because this is the only place I could find that had people knowledgeable about PSX emulators with LUA support. I downloaded PSXjin and tried it, but it won't advance past the opening movie of the game, which it gets halfway through before just stopping. Now, something tells me that PCSX-rr and PSXjin aren't somehow terrible emulators that barely worked and yet were used for at least some period of time despite those unplayable flaws. Both of them SEEM to perfectly meet my needs in terms of performance, with the exception of the issue I'm having with each of them.

Was I incorrect in thinking PCSX-rr had LUA support? Is PSXjin a more updated version of PCSX-rr? How's about you start being more helpful and less snide and condescending. And I'm going with the option that doesn't involve spending the money on PC upgrades, especially considering I use a laptop. So how about you drop that whole argument right here and now.

Use an emulator that's not going to be defunct like BizHawk.
That would be good advice, if not for the fact BizHawk runs like complete crap on my PC. All I need is a basic PSX emulator that has LUA support, and with the exception of this one issue, PCSX-rr meets those needs wonderfully (from what little of the game I've seen due to this issue).

Been trying to get this emulator working and it is... except it ignores any sort of button input. Whether I set it to use the keyboard or a controller, it just ignores it. I had this same issue before with ePSXe a couple of months ago, but I forget how I resolved it. The particular game in question here is Breath of Fire III, if it matters. When it happened with ePSXe, some games had the issue, and others played fine, but as I said, I forget how I resolved it. Been tinkering with settings, but to no avail. Anyone have any ideas for fixing this issue?

Go to http://redump.org/discs/system/psx/ , search your game/version/region/ and download the Cuesheet (that appears near the top of the page). Open this cue with a text editor to make sure the name of the the BIN/ISO/IMG is the same.
I'll give that a try, but in the meantime I have a different question. I tried a few other games and finally found one where the CCD file loads properly as PSX and the game actually plays! So my question is, how do I set it to use an existing memory card save I have? I can't find any option that lets me select a memory card file.

The best emulator, by far, is BizHawk. DiscoHawk says it can import ISO files, so if you have only the BIN it won't work. However, most PSX games have only 1 track and this little guide will help you. Edit: malformed URL
Well, DiscoHawk DOES work with the ISO files. Problem is, when I load up EmuHawk to actually use the CCD file from DiscoHawk), it tries to load it as a PCE-CD file, not PSX. And this is happening with my files whether I use a ISO or BIN (with cue) file. I ripped these files from my own game discs with ImgBurn ome time ago (maybe a couple of years), in case there are known issues with that program and its resulting image files.

Well, I'm trying to convert my .iso (my original dump) to a .bin that also has a .cue so I can use DiscoHawk, but BizHawk still tries to load it as a PCE-CD file (same thing happened when I used the .iso directly). all of my file attempts have descended from that same .iso that I ripped a while ago, and that works fine in ePSXe, and I don't have the means to re-rip it right now. Does that means there's an issue with the .iso I'm using, even if it works fine in other emulators? I read through the forum here for BizHawk and it seems that someone else had this issue, but it was resolved by using a bin/cue file instead.

Use the .cue file. If you don't have one, be creative. After that BizHawk shall work fine.
I don't have a .cue file, and I don't really have any idea how to "be creative" about it. Is there anything else I could do to get it to work? Or is there something wrong with my disc image that is causing BizHawk to not work (Even though it does work in ePSXe)?

I usually use ePSXe for my general PSX emulation, but it doesn't support lua scripting (from what I've seen, at least). I'm now in need of an emulator that does. I tried BizHawk, and I can load the emulator and everything fine, but it won't ever load a game. I set it to use the same bios/firmware that I use for ePSXe, and the hash matches, too, but it never actually loads the game file regardless of format. I've tried an .img, .bin, and .iso; all were my own rip from my own copy of the game, and the same ones that I can get to work just fine with ePSXe. Are there any other options I have for PSC emulation with lua support? Or any suggestions for how to get BizHawk working? Thanks in advance for any help!
