So, I have a problem that I can't seem to find any answers to anywhere. I will record a movie of the SF2 series or other games running on CPS-1 hardware and I get desyncs while playing the file. However, I can record games such as SF3, Alpha 3 or even SF2 Super Turbo and be completely fine. Is this just a general problem with FBA-rr or could I have some messed up files?

So, whenever I try to load a savestate while recording a Neo Geo game, FBA-rr always gets a misc. guru error. No matter what Neo Geo game it is, this problem ALWAYS happens. Any fix for this or should I use MAME-rr for Neo Geo games?

Unfortunately the only thing I could even think of for speed running this game is the CPS-1 version, but I can't manage to get fba-rr to not desync ANY CPS-1 recordings, regardless of game or length.

I've been doing testing and talking with some of the guys on SRK. It's RARELY possible in anything above 6 star mode due to how often the game skips vital frames for inputs. The cancelling is actually due to a glitch. During the freeze of the game your able to bypass your normal recovering frames on the moves animation. BUT, due to the massive frame skipping on 10 star, this is next to impossible. That and the SNES version is very technically different than the CPS-1 version of the game in many aspects, including the comboing system. I've managed to get some clean cancels with Dictator on my current TAS but it's very hard to get consistent due to the aforementioned issues.

I actually wasn't aware of that specific difference. Most of my SF2 experience is from Super Turbo and Anniversary. I'll keep it in mind for my Dictator run I'm starting.

You can't cancel moves in SF2. You have to rely on startup frames being less than whatever the hitstun is. That's why, even in Super Turbo, just about the most complex a combo got was chaining lights and jump ins.

Since this kinda belongs here but not really (since it's a ROM hack) but I also don't think it needs it's own thread, I'll go ahead and post this.

Made this to kill some time.

Thanks for the feedback! And I mean submission wise. I'm making it a point to have this submitted when it's finished, whenever the hell that would be, and I want it to be a long, LONG run so that I can exhaust what the game is really capable of. (I'm planning to run through the game with nearly every character once the VS stuff is through with) So I need to watch the limit on upload sizes.

i firmly believe if you had put more characters using the 2 player matches to entertain and change the characters beating the arcade ladder,it would problably get accepted.Unless a superplay shows off a good portion of the game,it doesn't get accepted here.Third Strike may be recommended for being the known version of SF3 and having a shape shifter, but it seems clear to me you want to take advantage of the better combo system this game has.Put character variety for different combos, unusual dodging like in the Zero Damage Videos and glitches in this and it will surely get accepted.Do the TAS part by part and we'll give opinion on the thread if you show us,just like Cooljay did with the Tekken 3 playaround.
That'll be my next project then. Character by character play.

post to userfiles, *not* as submissions, and post in the forums to request feedback.
To be honest I actually thought you had to have a submission voted on to be placed into user files. My bad, I need to read the FAQ's more carefully.

I'm sorry to say this but there are just too many times that you miss getting the clap. That might ordinarily be a good thing (Warepire, that one's for you), but I'm afraid this just looks a bit too sloppy. If this is going for speed to be eligible for the vault it has too much wasted time, but I'm afraid it's so repetitive that it isn't a good candidate for the moons tier either. Best of luck in the future, though!
Noted! Thanks for the encouraging feedback. I'll keep it in mind for my next run.

Nice to see you took intrest in my video, Noob! Big fan of you're stuff.
Anyway, I chose 2nd Impact because it's really unappreciated for what it is. Also, I play Third Strike competitively, I know how it works inside out, and this game is NOT 3S. I appreciate the advice with frame advancements on the dip menu though. Also, I've followed Shadenk for a while and he mainly sticks to 3S, which is again unfortunately much different than 2nd Impact in pretty much every way.

Looks like there's a bit more trying to push the combo system to its limits this time around, but I'm not too fond of the repeated whiffed Jabs.
Those aren't actually jabs, they're crouching medium punches. In the SF3 series, whiffing mediums and heavies builds meter, crouching medium punch being Yun's optimal meter builder.
[quote="grassini"what you lack in your TASing attempts is Frame Advance, playing the game in normal speed gives you a disadvantage in precision and speed,by playing frame by frame your tas will look more "sleek",precise, fast and you'll be able to do so much more.[/quote]
Actually, I run the game in frame advance at all times except during loading and VS screens. 2nd Impact is a hard game to TAS compared to 3rd Strike simply because it has one of the wonkiest combo systems in street fighters. Some characters have true infinites, some characters have trouble getting out any juggles whatsoever etc.
