Not a bad speedrun at all. Very fun to watch. It was confusing sometimes just HOW you used both guys at once, but it was still very cool. After that I'd really like to see Secret of Mana done since they play very similarly. And that game can be played with 3 players. ;) So ok, who's Brian Fehdrau? And why is it his fault?

This video is fantastic, but I have a beef with the ending tallys, since they're pretty much unnecessary to the movie and take up a lot of time... Could someone cut those, the intro, and the ending off of the vid and get it to approximately 80 minutes so that it would fit on a VCD? :D I'd do it myself but I don't have the software for it at all.

Try it with mute anyways. There are ways of encoding AVIs with sound even when the game was emulated without. We call it "fake mute" mode.
Dang, it seems that's worse. After trying that it froze earlier/easier. Another weird unrelated issue I've faced lately with a different game is that my input display stops working once the game starts... it works at the beginning but mysteriously stops working. Any idea what that is?

I have not been able to get a playback of the game Do-Re-Mi-Fantasy to synch up like the recording yet. I would assume it's because of the soundtrack and it's creative use of samples and such. Can anyone help me fix this without getting me to mute it? It would make for a sexy speedrun.

I've played this game and I must say that it is rather interesting. That kiwi (the bird you play) is just so cute when he's all swelled up with a ink/dye/color. :P A speedrun of it would be cool, but I don't know if anyone would actually be willing to do it.
You know that that thing is a kiwi!? Do you speak Japanese? Can you tell me any other details?

Does anyone know more about this? Has this been resolved or hacked so that it's resolved because I wouldn't mind a mario paint run.

So I crossed the second bridge finally. I'd love to know what actually happens in this game through to the end because we still know so little about it. Will there be a boss? the next occurence point is at 75 points. What will happen then?!?! I only see 3 islands. :o

Though for the record, the only 'wings' pre-N64 mario got was the P-Wing in the odd letter from the princess. SMW was a feather and cape. SMB3 was a leaf and racoon ears/tail.

Now there was a game. I'd like to see someone master this and show it off for everyone, but mastering the physics of this game would hurt my brain. Probably... Anyone wanna try it?

Makes all the difference. It's a well-balanced game. Man, sometimes in certain levels, like 6-5, there is simply NOT enough materials to complete the level. It's really annoying... and I'm at 49/50 and I'm DYING to see the next batch of levels. Oh and Nrgspoon? You suck.

Right now I've got all of worlds 1 through 4 solved, and all but 5-8 and 5-10 in world 5. I'm avoiding using the hints since it gives a 50% point penalty.
Sweet! A fellow player. *checks* I was at... 1-3 done... all of 4 minus 4-6... all of 5 minus 5-5 to 5-8 & 6-4 & 6-8. For those counting that leaves 3 left till the next set of levels. :)

I tried it back when this was first posted, and it was fun, but I could not figure out much about the game. I am stuck at the level with three blocks and no colors (1-8 I believe). It is an interesting concept, but I don't know how good of a time attack it could make. Maybe there is more about the game I don't know. I do like the "Nice Clear!" at the end of each level, though.
I ADORE the nice clear... if you got the rom in a pack with several I recommend the one that has the NP with it... that version has a tutorial thing that you don't really need to read Japanese for, and the controls seem to be more functional or something. There are nifty controls once you get used to them... like try placing a block and holding up, that places it as high as you can jump onto. Anyway, it can't possibley be a worse speedrun than some puzzle games I've seen.

Is there an easy way/method of cracking open the code on these video files so as to change something somewhere in the middle without messing up everything? Like delete a frame here, extend a frame there... make sure everything lines up? Can I just pop this baby open in a text file easy enough? Problem solved?
You can do that kind of changes in a hex editor. For this purpose, this guide was made by Blitzag: http://tasvideos.org/HexEditing.html (I take no responsibility for the accuracy of that guide.) Whatever method you use, you must know that all you edit is merely the recording of which buttons are pressed at which times. Deleting a frame from some point means that all the consequent button press data will happen 1 frame earlier. If the game isn't prepared for that, your movie will desync.
So this hex editor which I'm about to look at can't insert a frame of nothingness to compensate? That doesn't seem to make much sense. I better check it out before I say any more. EDIT: Meh, it does seem like it would do the trick, but I'll only proof-read it with this bad boy if it gets rejected when I submit it.

Okay, I've got a relatively important question here since it can mean the difference between a half decent run and a perfect run. Is there an easy way/method of cracking open the code on these video files so as to change something somewhere in the middle without messing up everything? Like delete a frame here, extend a frame there... make sure everything lines up? Can I just pop this baby open in a text file easy enough? Problem solved?

I know, you've never heard of it right? You gotta try this action/puzzle gem. It's a bit too much brain stress to think about perfecting it personally but I'm enjoying every second of this game and seeing it perfected would be quite an pleasant thing to see. It's one of the only NINTENDO brand snes games that didn't seem to make it out of Japan... which explains the quality of the game in my opinion. Now if only it had a plot. :P

So a lot of my old n00b questions have disappeared... and replaced with new ones! YAY! :D Here's two that I've researched and have been bugging me for a while and very well might be all that's holding me back: 1) I can't seem to press certain buttons together... not keys, it doesn't seem to matter where they're mapped; rather buttons. Namely: Start + L, Start + A, Start + B, < + Y, < + X, and L + A. This is already ruining everything. Any help provided ASAP would be greatly appreciated. 2) What the CRAP is WIP timing and why would I want/not want it. Help please and thanks.

Alright, that is a definite: NO, it is NOT shorter. I don't know why I thought it might be really. *sigh* It's at least 5 seconds difference.

True that. Very difficult game to speedrun, not because of luck manipulation or anything like that, but because of how sensitive the grappling hook is.
I think if you do it the way the other two have done it, but then shoot diagonally up right from where the ground slopes near the first fish, and swing up and around... possibley twice... it MIGHT be faster but I haven't REALLY tried.
http://tasvideos.org/UmiharaKawaseField00.html I took this into consideration. For those unclear, he means to skip the last ladder completely, instead using the momentum from the conveyor belt to swing yourself clockwise around the Utah-shaped block. Firstly, I don't think you could get enough momentum vertically to be able to do this without hitting the platform to the left of Utah and still clearing the top of Utah. And if you could, I still don't think it'd be faster. But, welcome to try. I encourage more speedruns of this game. I'm probably done with it, but it really is such an incredible game, and I'm glad it was ever brought up on these forums.
Yes and no... I was talking about maybe going around without using the ladder... but the part that might cut the time down is hitting the corner of the blue block up-right from the blue block. If no one seems to follow I'm going to have to do it. My talking about it is wearing thin. ;) BTW... very cool to talk to you about it Blechy.

But there's a 5 minute game mode which sort of does the same thing. At the title screen press select 100 times and then up to start game.
So what does this code unlock? Does it cause the 30 minute rule to be in effect from the beginning?
I suppose it is the 30-minute rule only shortened to 5.

This would be stupid. The fastest completion is under two minutes, so this doesn't help. A run using this code could simply kill five minutes between the first few levels, go into a door and then take on the end level. Anything besides the fastest possible run for this game should purely be for show, and a pretty sweet show at that (I love the Bob's route run.) So why cut the show short at 5 minutes?
Well, you'd have 5 minutes to do whatever impressive thing you want... then beat the levels left as fast as possible. It could still be plentifully amusing. Especially since level 28 is still untouched by the VG speedrun world.

Could you elaborate? Vatchern may or may not have seen it.

Not really. Take DDR for example, once you get past the mass of arrows and their speed it would just be as though 'auto-play' is on. Too predictable. I'd actually be interested in seeing Kid Klown in Crazy Chase done well with plenty of glitches... that game is amusing to watch regardless.
