As people here have said, there's is quite a lot to improve in your run. I'm not saying it sucks like hell but it does need some improving. I have also started making a TAS of DKC3 but I haven't had time to work on it :( Anyways, here is my beginning of DKC3 TAS so you can do a little comparing. I was going to post it here after I had the first world cleared but since I don't have much time to make it, it would take too long. And for the second, since Megaman is making a TAS of it, he can maybe learn something from mine. [EDIT]: Oh, yeah. Forgot to mention. I made the run with Donkey Kong Country 3 - Dixie Kong's Double Trouble (U) [!].smc rom.

Looks nice. I was just wandering if anyone was going to start MM6 run someday soon :) Only point where I started to wander if it could have been done faster was around frame 2500 when you stop to wait the floating cloud thingy to cross the oil with. Couldn't you just go through the oil without it or are you unable to jump high enough from the oil to get out of there in the other end? Otherwise, seems extremely good. I'll be checking this topic atleast daily from now on. :) [EDIT]: I loved the way Kyrsimys beat up Blizzard Man, with the sliding under him and so. I hope you'll watch his battle few times before making your own to make it atleast as interesting as Kyrsimys'.

As good as you could expect from FODA. And that means very good! ;) I also wandered a bit the sliding thing in CCM but it was really nice. The Wing Cap was also awsome. The way you got the cons and how you stomped the button. I too think the routes were well planed. But the 100 coins in BB could be collected a bit faster by changing the route. Althou' I don't know what should be changed :) I must say that the Bowser level wasn't as astonishing as Spezzaffer's but you and I both know why it is so. ;)

Yes, it looks very, very good! (even thou it's not perfect) The way you got the "cannon star" was just so fun. I didn't even know you could shoot that way with cannon. I think the Cannon should be opened. To help to get the star from the plateau and to speed up the collection of the red coins (like you did). I may have an idea how to make the run a bit faster. The 8th star you get in JRG (the "bonus" star). I think you should collect them in different order. Start by taking the one in the in front of you. Then go to the left (or right, doesn't matter really) and take the con from the floor. Then continue to the left and take the coin from the upper section of the room. And so on. This how you don't need to circle the room twice. Otherwise the run is just amazing! Can't wait to see more. Go FODA! ;)

You need the metal-hat for a star in Hazy Maze Cave, the one where you run at the bottom of the lake with the big creature in it. Unless it's possible to solve it in some other way? So perhaps getting the metal-hat first, then the vanish-hat, and then re-enter to finish Hazy Maze Cave? Would that be better if it's not possible to trigger the underwater button without the metal-hat?
Oh yeah. I completely forgot that star. Nice one Walker Boh ;) So the route should go pretty much like this: Get a star from the Toad in HMC lobby. Enter Hazy Maze Cave and get the Cavern of the Metal Cap star (and activate the Metal Cap). Get the Vanish Cap Under the Moat star (and activate the Vanish Cap). Go back to HMC and get all 7 stars from there. Go to Lethal Lava Land and get all 7 stars from there.

After reading Walker Boh's plans in which order the stars shoulf be collected, I got inspired and made one of my one (which is quite similar to Walker Boh's) 1) Jolly Roger Bay (& Secret Aquarium) - 8 stars 2) Princess's Secret Slide - 1 star 3) Whomp's Fortress - 7 stars 4) Princess's Secret Slide - 1 star 5) Tower of the Wing Cap - 1 star 6) Cool Cool Mountain - 7 stars 7) Bomb-omb Battlefield - 7 stars 8) Bowser in the Dark World - 1 star 9) go to the basement to stomp those pillars (for the Blue Cap) 10) Catch Mips (the bunny) - 1 star 11) A star from the Toad in HMC lobby - 1 star 12) Hazy Maze Cave (& Cavern of the Metal Cap) - 8 stars get the Metal Cap star last. Because after that you'll fall down the waterfall outside the castle 13) Vanish Cap Under the Moat - 1 star 14) Lethal Lava Land - 7 stars 15) Shifting Sand Land - 7 stars 16) Catch Mips again - 1 star 17) Dire Dire Docks - 7 stars 18) Bowser in the Fire Sea - 1 star 19) Big Boo's Haunt - 7 stars 20) Wet-Dry World - 7 stars 21) Tiny-Huge Island - 7 stars 22) A star from the Toad in front of TTM - 1 star 23) Tall Tall Mountain - 7 stars 24) Snowman's Land - 7 stars 25) Wing Over the Rainbow - 1 star 26) Tick Tock Clock - 7 stars 27) A star from the Toad outside RR - 1 star 28) Rainbow Ride - 7 stars 29) Bowser in the Sky - 1 star Of course this would require the long-jump-through-JRB-door to work. There are also few stars I'm not 100% sure of at which point they should be taken. Those are mainly the Mips and Big Boo's Haunt stars.

if you aren't going to do a all-levels-run, I think you should get all clouds you can from Hammer Bros'. That's because I'm quite sure that a Hammer Bro level is much shorter than some normal level which could be skipped with the cloud.

Yes, it would be nice idea to get once three of each (stars, mushrooms & flowers), but getting more of them? I don't think that's a good idea. Also don't take them in the very first levels. The first three card I'd most definitely get all different.

Are you going to visit the hidden Mushroom House in the second world (the one where you need the hammer)? And what about every other Mushroom House, do you intend to go to them aswell? It would also be a great idea to turn one of the Hammer Bros to Treasure Ship. Baxter, what is the hidden monkey in level2? I've never heard of this.

Well, sorry to inform you but it looks like I won't be continuing this run any longer. Some of you may already know this from the 'Download VBA here' topic that I'm having some troubles with the emulator now that I have new PC. :( I you want more info, read it from there (or pm me). So unless someone (mostlikely nitsuja) isn't going to solve my problem, I won't be continuing this run. Or infact any other GBA/GBC run.

How about adding autofire hotkey possibility to the next version? Atleast to A and B (and maybe Z) would be nice. And while you are at it, autohold would also be nice add. (Althou' I myself don't think it's even nearly as useful as autofire hotkeys) The v8 seems otherwise work like a charm. Even the quick keys for the save/load state 1 are now fixed (which I mentioned some time ago).

Just f*cking awsome!! You're the man Spezzafer! I definitely liked the huge leap of faith you did in the last bowser level. The one where you cut a pretty huge part of the beginning of the level. I also liket the way you boarded Bowser's sub in DDD. Althou' I think it can be done a bit faster. And of course how you used every other bug in the game. The first star with the Bomb, going through those doors with the bunny (which was done very fast!) and the long jumping the stairs up, wow that was amazing how good you were able to manipulate where Mario ended up. A definite YES from me! What next? 120 star run? ;) (I'd really like to see that) [edit]:

i can't download it, all i get is a zip file with a 10,7 Kb file inside named "submission883" needless to say, just renaming it won't fix.
I also got that tproblem in the previous submission (where the time was incorrect. 3:07 or something). In that I unzipped the submission882.zip file and from there I got 'submission882' file. I deleted the previous .zip and renamed the one I had gotten from inside the zip-file to submission882.zip. So I made the file that was inside the zip-file also a zip-file (yes, sounds very confusing). After that I extracted the second zip-file just normaly and got the .m64 (movie)file from it, which worked just fine.

So now to clear things a bit. I have a new PC and don't seem to get the VBA (neither v10 or v15) to load saved states properly. Every time I load, with or without a movie playbacking, it boosts through ~10 frames. And it doesn't matter at which speed I'm playing it. The same happens when I use 6% or 50% speed (or any other). Also it doesn't matter a thing which slot I load or how many times I do it. The result is always the same: practically skipping ~10 frames. Otherwise the emulator seems to work just as fine, as it did with my old PC. When I made runs with my old PC, I used v10. And now I have tried the exact same version, which I copied from my old harddrive (so the settings are all okey) and the new v15 (which I haven't ever used before). My guess is that the reason why it bugs so is that my new PC is so much faster than the old one. I have AMD 64 3000+ processor, 512+256mb ddr500 rams, Club 3D Radeon 9800pro graphic adapter and 120gb SATA 7200rpm harddrive. These are the only components that really could effect the emulator somehow (well, mayby not the harddrive). Oh yes, and I have Windows XP Pro (english) installed in this one. In the previous one I had Windows XP Home (finnish), but I don't believe that this could affect it.

WAIT A MINUTE! I tried the v10 again. And it seems I have the same problems with it. So there can be only one solution to this: I have practically whole new PC right now. (Bought some new parts. Almost every part inside the box is new.). So now that I have new, much faster PC, it seems my TASing days are over (with VBA) unless you can figure it out why it boost through those frames after loading. Yes, after I found out this, I tried saving/loading with snes9xw-improvement7. So the problem seems to be only with VBA. [edit]: gotta go to sleep now. I'll clear out what I have babbled tomorrow, when I'm not half-asleep :)

Yes, it happens also when I'm not recording. How long does it take to load a save state? Just as long as it did with v10. There isn't any pause when I load it. What comes to the sounds, they sound just normal. Like they did with v10.

Nope, any of your pointers didn't help me out, nitsuja. Although now I noticed that the same boosting happens when i go to the menu (with mouse or by pressing Alt). So you asked me tell what speed and other options I use, so they are: I use 6% speed, Buttons C, V, B, N for save state 1, 2, 3, 4. and D, F, G, H for load state 1, 2, 3, 4. I have just about week ago installed Windows XP Pro (english).

hmm... I seem to have encountered pretty bad bug (or something) with v15. When ever I load or save state the emulator boosts through ~10 frames with very fast speed (much faster than the original 100% speed). So when ever I load/save I lose ~10 frames. You can imagine how much that would effect the quality of the TAS. So now I'll continue to use v10 Although the problem might be caused by the fact that I'm using a moviefile (.vbm) started with v10. Anyways it would be nice if this would be fixed in the next version.

Yes Gigafrost, I have also noticed that. But thnaks anyway. Infact I'm currently at Maha Ganesharrif. (Been for few days now..). Somehow I don't seem to have any time to make speedruns these days. :( Well I could atleast update my progress to you (even thou' the mission/level isn't finished yet). That's because I'm not sure if I have the time to complete the run. So here is the progress so far.
