I updated my movie again but I'm sorry to inform that I didn't have the moviefile in the beginning of the last level any more, so you'll also get to see my second battle with Cold Man ;) I'm quite sure that I'll get this completed during this week so just hang in there. :) (btw, it's so dull to beat up every boss twice!) Here's the url again so you won't need to scroll up a bit: http://koti.mbnet.fi/maza-/Speedrun/Megaman_&_Bass.vbm

Thereisnospoon, I'm just doing this for fun so I didn't think about that when I started doing this. The reason why i started makeing TAS of Megaman & Bass was that there wasn't complete TAS of it yet and at the same time I was hopeing that someone gets interested enough to make more perfect TAS of Megaman & Bass (or Rockman & Forte).

Thanks for your support Xaphan ;) I think the only difference between snes and gba versions is that in gba version there is "now saveing..." in few screens. Although I'm not absolutely sure about this since it has been a very long time since i played the snes version. I have just beaten King Jeter (or what ever that that flying boss is called) but I'm not going to upload it to you yet. I'll upload it once i have beaten the whole level. sry for this if it's disapointing someone to see my replies without any visual progress. :)

I updated the file again. Now I'm in the beginnig of the stage 2 of King's Fortress. I expect this to be completed this week and after that I _may_ start doing this TAS with Bass, but most likely I'm going to start with some other GBA game since I have now gotten accustom to this emulator.

I just defeated Tengu Man and decided to update my progress to you. So now i have completed Cold, Burner, Pirate, Ground and Tengu Man. And next I'm going to Magic Man's stage. The url is the same as before but here's it again: http://koti.mbnet.fi/maza-/Speedrun/Megaman_&_Bass.vbm

Thanks for the comments, Xaphan. Most of them has a good point but I'm (most likely) not going to redo those parts. About the bossfights: Since I'm not going to make this absolutely fastest possible (since this is my first TAS), I thought it'd look much cooler to beat them without getting hit by the boss ;) And for the third "blue ball thrower robot": It's not possible to jump over it and the "floorsweeping little bugger". Although there might be other solutions to clear that part faster. And a bit more of the "floorsweeping little buggers": If I had know that you could destroy them with Wave Burner, I would most definitely have used that to be able to slide more. Well, all this can be corrected by the next person who is going to make a faster TAS of Megaman & Bass. I hope my TAS encourages someone to do it faster.

If anyone's interested, I have started makeing TAS of Megaman & Bass (which some of you may know from Rockman & Forte thread from snes section). I'm playing with Megaman and currently in the beginning of Ground Man stage (fourth actual boss stage). Since this is my very first TAS, don't expect too much from it :) Because I'm doing this just for fun I'm not going to check every step if it could have been done few frames faster, but I do intend to make it as fast as possible. The entertainment part needs of course some working (which you might get from all of the above), but I try not to just stand still the whole time in areas where it's not possible to move ahead. Excluding few exceptions ;) Well, i leave the judging to you (since this is my first TAS, don't be too hard on me :P). Here's the moviefile of it: http://koti.mbnet.fi/maza-/Speedrun/Megaman_&_Bass.vbm

HostUnlim (http://www.hostunlim.com) seems to work atleast somehow and it's free. Although i do like much more mbnet which on the other hand is not free.. If i understod correctly, HostUnlim sould have 1gb space so it should be enough for some time ;) But there are unfortunately few limitations: 1) the file must be of specific extension (which shouldn't be a big broblem since .zip files are allowed). 2) The name of the files is limited to 24 characters.

Can't you also use the Balloon as the Rush Jet to skip through that wall? I don't know which one is faster but thought that I'd mention it anyway.

How crazy idea would be makeing a TAS of any Pokémon in which you'd catch every (possible) pokemon which you are able to get in that version? ;) It would of course take time, but when useing luck manipulation etc. it wouldn't be so extremely long as you'd first think. This would naturally require lots of prepareing and checking which is the fastest possible way (as does only finishing the game it self), but wouldn't it be cool to see that kind of speedrun?

Pretty nice looking but why on earth do you pick up some of the enemies (and few blocks) when you don't need them on anything, or am I just missing something? This just slows you down since it moves forward much slower while picking up an object. This is the first full (all levels done) TAS i have seen on SMB2 and enjoyed watching it. There where those few bug abuses (or what should i call them :) ) which made it even more interesting. For example mooving forward with the flying rug and jumping while on it, pickin up fruit from the "shadow world" to kill boss with it fast and easy and useing star to kill boss. It's been _a long_ time since I have played SMB2 so (even thou this a bit is of the topic) would someone remind me what was Mario's special ability?

Well, what can I say but: you are correct :) btw, does Tilus kill the Rattata in the beginning to get level in the next fight with the trainer or is there another reason for that battle?

Pretty impressive run you have there :) but I must say that i prefer a bit more the Pokemon Red movie in SDA (http://speeddemosarchive.com) because your's looks soo fake since you have used luck manipulation (or what ever) to prevent the random battles and to cause critical hits in fights. Otherwise I think it's very fine start for Pokemon Blue speedrun. I hope you'll finish this (some time soon :) ) since it's always nice to watch a new run even though one has been made before (but in this case it's not completely same since the minor differences in r/b).

I made a brief walkthrough of what you'll need to do after the Desert. It isn't full to the end of the first world, but i think it will help a little thou. It most likely needs some improvement but as a very rough varsion it should do. ;) If i have enough energy and time i could finish it (to the end of the first world) during this week (and if no one else hasn't done it by then.) 1. Beat the Sandworm (300HP) with AquaRake or with Ice spells 2. Go throgh the Desert of Sand tides by useing Bisqwit's map (and capture those Sand Bears if you want) 3. Go south and enter Gorn Town 4. Go north to the stairs, follow King Tycoon to the left, go to the ruins in the sougheast corner, follow King Tycoon north, go to the "backyard" of the ruins, go back to the stairs, follow King Tycoon 5. You'll fall in the trap door, go left to the door, step on the teleporter 6. follow the path to the door, use the lever to open the door, continue to the ships, go below the deck, talk to Cid, talk again to Cid in the air (6,5. you can learn mini and get shurikens if you go south in the roon with the lever) 7. Kill Clay Claw (2000HP) useing lightning based attacks (Lighning rods are most likely the easiest & fastest way, but Lightning Skillz's are also pretty good) 8. Fly to Gorn Town (to reveal the flying fortress) 9. Fly back to the airhsip dock (in Crescent Island) and talk to Mid & Cid 10. Fly to Tycoon Meteor, enter it, touch the Adamantite, fight the boss 11. Kill Adamantaimai (2000HP) with L5 Doom (Ice works also but you won't be needing it ;) ) 12. Return to airship dock

Well, now that Bisqwit has made a complete map of the Desert of Sand Tides, I won't finish mine. And btw, I found a way to help you a lot in the fight with Titan. As you all know it uses Eath Shaker (or something like that) as final attack. I've found few ways to survive of that attack (some of them has already been pointed out in here). 1. Use Dragoon's !Jump ability 2. Go to North Mountain and control a Ghilcat (not sure about that name) and use it in the battle to cast Float 3. Use Chemist's !Mix ability and mix an Antidote and Maiden's Kiss to cast Float. The fastest way (don't know for sure) might be useing Dragoon, but useing Chemist will most likely be easier.

I don't know much about Poliwag but every time i played G/S/C, I used Crabby/Kingler as my "tool" since you could tech at least 4 (mayby even more) different HMs to it. I would be good idea to watch the Pokemon Red speedrun and get some hints from it. For example use mainly one pokemon by teaching it different type attacks so it will be good against anything. Catching Suicune or Lugia may halp you in some place (because of their high level) but it would also take a long time to get them. That's why you need to think do you really need them.

Hi Boco! I started makeing a map of the Desert of Sand Tides for you ;) It's still pretty incomplete but here you can see my progress: http://koti.mbnet.fi/maza-/Pics/FF5-Desert_incomplete.JPG The quality is pretty high so you can zoom it to see it more accurately. And in the and i intend to mark which way is each sandwave going so you can see it easily wich is the fastest way. While I adventured there, I noticed that approximately one third of the battles hases Sand Bear in it so it won't be hard to find 'em if you're going to catch those. EDIT: I have updated the map (the ULR is still the same). Now it should have every square you are able to step on. I'll do the directions of the tides tomorrow or day after that if it doesn't matter you, Boco. EDIT2: I have deleted the picture so it's no use clicking the url

So Boco, how far are you actually? And btw, i found a major mistake in your TAS. There's a wall which you could walk through but you didn't and this could have saved _a lot_ of time. It's in the Wind Shrine, in the same screen as the boss. Here's a pic of it: http://koti.mbnet.fi/maza-/pics/FF5.png

I've started makeing a speedrun (yes, plain and simple speedrun, not TAS) of a small puzzlegame on PC called Dweep. I've already done 10 levels (of 35) and I expect each level to be completed in the end of July (since I have some vacation then :) ). I try to make every possible solution for each level which hases more than one. I've already found different solutions for levels 6 & 10. Here's an example of my work: http://koti.mbnet.fi/maza-/Dweep_Level9_speedrun.avi If you have found many solutions in some levels, feel free to point them out for me and ease my work a bit. EDIT: If you want to see my work, contact me (through PM or IRC).

samurai goroh: the easiest way to kill the Sandworm in the Desert of Sand Tides is to simply cast one AquaRake (which can be learned from Quadraharpy in the small desert before Library of Ancients) and he's wasted.

I just watched your speedrun from the AVI file (created by Bisqwit) and whoa, that's amazing! :) I definitely couldn't have done it better myself but I did find some minor mistakes you made: 10:15 The first battle in the cave: you shouldn't have attacked the last bat with Lenna since Bartz would have killed it with single hit. 17:30 You stop walking without any reason for very short period. 21:20 Why did you change Bartz's job when you didn't need Blue Mage's abilities with him? You could have just kept him as Bare. 34:14 You take a miss step. 34:22 You stop walking for a very short period. 43:51 You open menu for no reason. If it's still possible to fix these, you'd propably get few seconds better time. I (and many others) are eagerly waiting for this to get completed. Please don't keep us awfully long in agony and finish it soon ;)
