Nope, doesn't work. I tried that with v17 and v19.3. Both gave regular avi without the messages. (I tried switching frame counter and input display on/off and checked the "movie end" message but none of those were in the avi.)

This AVI also doesn't have sound when played on MPC with the K-lite Codec Pack. So far, I've had this problem with Super Punch Out, Ernest Evans, Mutant Apocalypse, and King's Bounty. none of the other videos have ever given me problems.
Are you sure your codecs are configured properly? For example, changing the mp3lib to libmad in ffdshow audio decoding configuration will result to no audio for me as well. So how about if you check your settings and notify my if the avis still dont work?

Works fine with me. What codecs (or codec packs) and players are you using? I have K-Lite+BSPlayer and works like a charm.

Sir VG: Are you sure you have mp3 decoding enabled? Because last time I reinstalled my codecs it was disabled. If you are Windows user, you can check it simply by going to Audio decoder configuration, which can be found in ffdshow start menu group.

Thanks for all of your support, I really appriciate it. But about me being a publisher, I think I need to quote Stan Lee: "With great power comes great responsibility". I'd be really honoured to be publisher, but I'm not sure if I could handle it properly. I have no idea how to actually publish a run (the encoding and seeding I can do). So unless one of the publishers would be willing to teach me, I'd have no chance at all in publishing a run. Though, don't take this as if I'm not interested a bit, because I am. If Bisqwit is really willing to give me a chance, I sure would think about it seriously. (That is if I get some publishing training ;). ) And once more, thank you all for the positive feedback. It really cheeres one's day to hear such feedback from so many people.

Is it possible to collect all the cards in one game? Or do you need to link with other GB or something like that?

Here's a little improvement idea for the next version: I'd like to record movies so that the status messages would be in the avis. Perhaps an on/off check box option, in case someone would like to record avis without them? Or if it'd be possible to do on my own, would someone like to guide me through it? (I'm very eager to encode pirate_sephiroth's Castlevania: HoD run, but in my oppinion it definitely should have those messages on)

Wow! It's already submitted - and accepted for publishing. I have followed your WIPs very closely and there's no doubt about it: A yes vote and nomination for star material! Mario 64 is outstandingly good game to TAS and Foda is definitely the right man for the job. You make the run look very entertaining with all those fancy mooves and camera changes.

Edit: Eh, if this gets published, which I believe it will, I really think that the m64 should be released with saves before each world like what Spez made... it would be much easier on viewers who can't sit through the whole thing at one sitting, or want to watch a particular parts of it in advance for whatever reason etc. Just for convenience sake...
A very good idea, indeed.

I'd say: continue on! But I'm no expert in chopping ROMs to pieces, like our friend FractalFusion, so you might wanna hear other people's oppinions also.

AKA: That's very fast! Is your Behind the Whomp's Gate star even faster than FODA's? It sure looks like it - at least the glitching part.

You could also use the fcm file of the published Mega Man run, frame skip to the point from where you want to play and make a save state yourself. Or at least that's how I would do it.

Looks good. Though it's kinda hard to watch it with 100% speed (so I had to watch it again with lower speed) :D. I hope you continue making this even though it may at first glance look like this game isn't the best choice for TASing.

For more precice info: 1) Download the VBA emulator from here: http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2050&start=0 (or simply clicking here) 2) Execute the vba-rerecording.exe and open the correct ROM via File -> Open ROM (or with Ctrl+O) 3) After the ROM is loaded open the moviefile (.vbm) which you downloaded from TASvideos site via Tools -> Play -> Start Playing Movie. Now the movie is playing and you can watch it, but in case you want to start watching from a save state: 4) Before selecting the movie file (meaning before step 3.), activate the read-only mode from Tools -> Play -> Read-only mode (or with Shift+8). 5) Next load the movie file like in step 3. and after the movie has started playing load the save state you have via File -> Load Game -> Load from file. PS. I think these "how to play infos" should be found in the FAQ for each emulator so that every second newbie isn't asking here how to play them (though maybe a little clearer and shorter than what I have written here) ;)

Metronome would be (with out a doubt) the best move for a TAS like this. It would be the most entertaining one, and you could still use that Guillotine of yours few times for a faster time. ;)

kirbymuncher, use this: http://koti.mbnet.fi/maza-/mIRC-v6.2-nesvideos.zip Just extract the zip and execute mirc.exe. I set the settings so that you'll automatically connect to the TASvideos channel, #nesvideos, at irc.freenode.net, though it would be best if you'd take time to get accuainted and check the settings etc. EDIT: Deleted the file since kirbymuncher got it.

Yes, I would also like to see a lvl230 Oddish battle. So if it's not way much slower than using rare candies, it would increse the entertainment value quite much ;).

Would it be possible to record AVIs which have the "movie start" and "movie end" messages in them in the next version? Plus of course the bug I earlier mentioned fixed:
Maza wrote:
There is a problem with the AVI recording of fceu-0.98.16. I tried to record an avi with it but the video was black, the audio worked fine though. After that I tried recording an avi with fceu-0.98.15, with exactly the same codecs and it worked fine. So the problem is in the new version.
EDIT: And "always on top" option would also be nice. Thank You. ;)

Once again it has been prooven that "AngerFist" in filename equals for "high quality" ;). I'm not saying that Vatchern didn't do as much work for this run, but somehow AngerFist is just my favourite MM TASer :). Good work both of you! And now, AngerFist, you can resume the quadrunproject :).

Looks very nice. Though it got a little boring when you used that glitch so many times (four if i counted right). I liked the way you jumped to get the "Mysterious Mountainside" star. I hope your way is faster than the jump + kick, which we have seen in so many occasions. There were some nice acrobatics and nice usage of the free time in the "Mystery of the Monkey Cage" star.

Yes, absolutely fantastic (as people have already said)! Tiny Huge Island is my least favourite level but you really made me like it :). The Koopa race was FAST as others have mentioned. It really made me smile also. Another star which I liked quite much - in fact more that Koopa the Quick race star - was the "5 secret places" star. It was so very fast that i couldn't believe my eyes :D. I can't wait to se what you'll make out of the Rainbow Ride, which was once my favourite level ;).
