Oh yes, that was amazing! Your runs are always a real pleasure to eyes. The usage of the Super Arrow stunned me completely. Plus all to othe bugs you used. You really can't explain by words how good it looked ;) I'm voting YES of course. If this isn't worth publishing, then nothing is. And btw, thanks for filling my request by riding in a Super Arrow in CrystalMan stage (and in some other stages too) ;)

I just watched the .avi (which DeHackEd made, thanks to him btw) and it really is something! All those fast moves and quick/unexpected routes made it look very nice. Exellent idea in the Big Penguin Race star (in CCM) to switch the camera angle. It made some variations to the movie, plus since it hasn't ever been used in speedruns before (atleast to my knowledge), it really stunned me (in the good way of course)

Boco, could you give us a link to your latest run? or is this latest: http://www.geocities.com/boco_xlvii/ff5movie.zip ? I'd like to try/test my encoding skills on your run. :) EDIT: And it would help if I knew which rom you used.

Yey! Finally someone is continuing on making FFV run. It's definitely one of the best FFs ^^

Here's a screenshot of that shortcut: http://koti.mbnet.fi/maza-/pics/FF5.png (if you haven't already found it) EDIT: If you don't know much of those secret passages, I think you should check every room (where there could be a passage) with Thief, to make sure you won't miss any shortcuts.

Are you sure that Mew can't be caught any sooner? If it would be, you'd get more levels to Mew rather than your starter, which would most likely speed up the run.

I vote for pure speedrun. I think we should first get a simple as-fast-as-possible TAS and after that any/some of those others. I myself like quite much 100% speedruns/TASes but I still think you should (at least first) make a as-fast-as-possible run.

Nice! I'll most definitely watch your run, primorial#soup but I'll do that tomorrow. It's bedtime for me now ;) The mainreason for this post was, that I happen to have quite thorough walkthrough of Pokemon Blue/Red. If either of you is going to make a new run of Blue/Red, I could scan it to minimize the trouble you'll have to go through in making the run. The only minus on the walkthrough is that it's finnish, but I guess it's the pictures that really matter. So just say so if you want me to scan it, okey? :) EDIT: Here are some of my scans which I made for Tilus: Silph Co., Pokemon Mansion 1, Pokemon Mansion 2 & Victory Road. As you can see, I have edited the a bit so it's easier for people who don't understand finnifh to read them. The scans I'm now willing to make of the whole booklet would be simply scanning the pages and uploading/giving them to you. I wouldn't be editing/translating them since that would mean a huge amount of work.

After watching DeHackEd's 30fps version and comparing it to 60fps version, I definitely think we should stick to 60fps. Even thou' the size of the movie is somewhat bigger.

Wow, you have been working fast! If the end part is as good as the beginning, this will truly be one amazing run.

Yes, very nice. Definite YES vote from me. As Guybrush said: "Clever usage of death and the other character.". And what comes to the level 8 boss, I thought it was kinda entertaining. That may be because I waited for something _much_ less entertaining :) Anyways, you managed to make the whole run quite entertaining with those character throws and deaths. Atleast kept my eye tightly on the screen since there was so much happening. ;) EDIT: btw Guybrush, nice idea for the screenshot.

Mine also. ;) Best FF ever (or atleast one of the best). To see a complete TAS of FFV would be a dream come true.

I have made a TAS of Rockman & Forte with Megaman. Althou' I made it with GBA, not snes. If you are even a bit interested, you can find it here: http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2759 In my oppinion it's not that good. It has some quite obvious mistakes and the move could be more optimezed (atleast in some points). I think if someone really experienced with TASing made a run with Megaman (and really invested on that), he maybe could get it under 40 mins. Well, because it's my first TAS, I think you can forgive some of my mistakes in it (but not all of course).

Yes, very nice and fast looking run. Few points which got my attention: First, the way you take the DK barrels was just so nicely planed. By this I mean that you take those barrels only when it doesn't slow you down (by stopping the screen for a moment). Second, all those little sortcuts where you throw your buddy to skip a barrel or something were also great. Third, those parrto stages rocked! They were so fast it was sometimes hard to keep up. ;) And fourth, I really liked the shellfish bossbattle. I never knew you could get on him without getting hurt. Plus it was very fast (like the whole game ;) ). the only minus (to me atleast) was the saw stage. You kept climbing the tree offscreen so it started to get a little boring. Of course it was first kinda cool to see you jumping for every branch before you could even see them, but after a while it started to get a bit boring. A YES vote from me!

Then I guess I'll have to encode one myself :) Thou' I'd still prefer DeHackEd or Bisqwit encoding it because they know what they are doing (unlike me). And thus can compress the size of the file to the very minimum while stille keeping the quality very high.

Why on earth hasn't this run been published yet!? It's more than just "good enough to be published". It's very fast and entertaining enough. And as McBAIN said: "It's not very encouraging for runners when they make a publish-worthy run, and not get it published." Is it because of the lach of voters? There's already 16 'yes' votes and none 'meh' or 'no' votes. I'd really like to hear atleast one reason for not publishing Xaphan's beautiful run.

Yes, this sounds a very interesting idea. I also would like to see the input sometimes and if it's really possible to make a subtitle of the inputs, why shouldn't we try this. Since you can include the subtitle(s) to the .mkv, there wouldn't be any extra files for the watchers. And few extra kb's in the moviefile wouldn't hurt anyone. But I don't think it would be a good idea to create individual inputsubtitles for every published movie. Unless we made them an own page / site or something. The published movies list looks already a bit messy/complex. So I say, go for it! We definitely should try this (with .mkv). About the BSPlayer's subtitle capabilities. You can use .sub .srt .txt and .ssa type subtitles with it.

Well, I havn't tested anything but after collecting every jiggy in the game, that one felt definitely the longest. Another jiggy that seemed a bit long, was the one in Gobi's Valley, where you have to fly through those circles (on top of The Ancient Ones). Althou' in TAS that can be speeded up quite a lot with the dive skill (B while flying). So don't rule out this jiggy just yet. And what comes to the transformations. I think the Alligator/Crocodile would be the best choise to left out. That's ofcourse if any of them will be left out. The reason for this is because you need it actually to only one jiggy (as qqwref has told before), and that jiggy will also take quite much time. (It's the one where you have to eat those red and white things faster than the red croc). The bee would also be nice to skip becuase it takes so much Mumbo Tokens (25). But if you don't take the bee, you'll miss atleast 3 jiggies. One in the highest branch of "springtree", Jinjo jiggie because you need to get one of them from the beenest in spring and the witch switch jiggie. Ofcourse all of this is just speculations which need to bee tested, but atleast we got something to start the testings with ;) (And btw, Kitsune, would you mind correcting the topic. It's supposed to be Banjo-Kazooie)

About a week ago I dusted my old N64 out from closet and played through Banjo-Kazooie 100%. Just for fun. And well, also to remind me of all the places, shortcuts, etc. The ingame clock told me it took me 10h to get it 100%. I myself though it would have been a little longer because it's been years since i've played anything in real N64 console. While I was playing, I noted one jiggy we can all agree on, which should be left out. And that is the Eyrie the Eagle jiggie (in Click Clock Wood). To get it, you must break it's egg in summer, feed him 5 catepillars in summer (which you must all collect around CCW), feed 10 more catepillars to him in fall and finally chat with him in winter to get on single jiggie. The gathering of those catepillars already take pretty much time, but you must also watch banjo feeding them to Eyrie one at a time.

Hey, that actually worked! Enabling the "accurate sound pitch" really stopped the 10 frame boosting! I thou' don't remember you writing about it before. Well, the point is that the emulator works now. Of course i must continue my run with v15 because i'm unable to open the .vbm in v16, but that really doesn't matter. The main thing is that it works again (well, it most definitely would also have worked before if I had enabled that sound pitch thingy). I would still like to try the new version thou'. So I hope there will be a v17 in near future. [EDIT]: And just in time. My vacation starts tomorrow ;)

Nope, the new version (vba-rerecording-16) still has the same troubles as the older on (vba-rerecording-15). :( When I save or load a state the emulator boost through exactly 10 frames. I noticed that this also happens when I make the gamescreen inactive by pressing Alt (to go to the File, Options, Cheats, etc.) or simply clicking File (or some other in the toolbar) with mouse and then resuming the game. The boosting happens also when I increase or decrease the emulators speed. Plus to all this, the new version can't open my .vbm which I made with v15. Here's a pic of it. Otherwise the new version seems a bit fancier/better than the old one. :)
