Just found it weird how you were trying to remember two of the games for the GB which are most ingrained in my memories (one for being so lame, the other for being so cool and fun, and both being crazy).

This is an original Gameboy game. The box art features a purple dinosaur holding a shovel. In the game you dig holes and have to find keys or something to progress to the next level. It's a puzzle/action game I think. Also, another original Gameboy game. It's a sci-fi/spacey platformer. Your character is wearing some sort of combat suit or driving a mech of some kind, or maybe is a robot, it doesn't just look like a person anyway. I think one of the bosses is a fish skeleton.
Wow. 1. Boomer's Adventure in Asmik World 2. The Adventures of Star Saver

Is it possible that this was a non Batman game that had some graphics switched to turn it into one later? Anyway, the game was kind of meh-ish, but the run itself was... I can't really recall and I just watched it. I guess I'll just vote meh.

@IronSlayer - Could it be Mega Lo Mania? I don't remember if it had a PC version (wiki says it did). It sounds kind of close to what you're talking about.

On a side note, the fact they finally allowed us to customize the controls is a huge plus in my book. Turning off "Up to jump" has been a fantasy of mine for years.
Really? That's cool. In Melee I sometimes liked to play Ganondorf, and he had this really powerful charge kick attack that could knock out someone at 0%, but it was an up+a attack and it was a bit difficult moving the stick slow enough for him not to jump kick instead.

You evil bastard, now it'll be another half an hour before I go to sleep. Oh well, I'll most likely be voting 'yes' in about half an hour if I bother to vote. Edit: As I assumed I would, voting yes. Oddly enough, maybe because I haven't seen a Megaman run for a while now, the whole run seemed to move really fast. Anywho, great job.

.... WOW. This game is so... The whole thing was so... I mean, too many sprites actually made the game go faster? It was so insane. I really don't know what to say, the enemies were so hilarious. This is like the first TAS I've seen where it still seems like the player is having trouble with the game. And the way you were hit, I don't even get how that happened. I'm voting yes. I mean, a guy trying to attack you with falling dead birds, and those cats that go crazy all the time... I enjoyed it.

Well, the run will probably be ridiculously long anyway. I personally think that most RPG runs that go for 2+ hours might as well show everything the game has to offer (including crazy ass glitches as long as they don't stop the game from actually being beatable).

It might also be bcause Alex Kidd seemed to be very heavy on the Japanese culture references.

Well, this topic turned into something else... Anywho, the first TAS I've ever seen was a River City Ransom one. I think it was the last 1-player run made. Then I saw some of the Megaman ones and was hooked on the site ever since.

Heh, playing Front Mission III with save-states is fun, oddly enough... Especially when you consider the fact that every attack has a chance to stun or eject the enemy... Muahahaha. Yeah, I obviously don't play some games for the challenge.

My first attempt at doing something even resembling a TAS can be found here: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/4441/Mech-RMbtr.vbm I was trying to make a sort of demo to maybe pique someone's interest so that he'll make a real run. Edit: If it's just a question of when I first started using tools, well, I've been using save-states since I've started using emulators. It's the best thing ever. Of course, I also abused the hell out of it on the beams in Quick Man's stage. :) I've played that game so much and re-loaded that part so many times that in the end I could just complete it without any help.

Well, I watched it, and to be honest, I didn't really like it. Maybe there was a problem with the emulation, but I didn't hear any environmental sound effects, which really bugged me. The bosses were very boring as well. I'm kind of trying to decide between a meh and a no, so I'll give the benefit of the doubt and go meh.

Oh, okay. It's just that the submission text for Wonderboy mentioned a precedent, I guess it was meant that the game sets the precedent.

... Didn't I see a cross-system obsoletion when Wonderboy for the SMS obsoleted Hudson's Adventure Island for the NES? Edit: Wait, I'm confused, what's the difference between cross-system and cross-platform?

If it's the same game, then it doesn't matter if it's on a different platform. A run of the Genesis version will still be compared to the run made on the NES version.

Oh, haha. Guess that's what I get for watching a run at 4AM. Well, voting yes.

I enjoyed watching this. Oddly enough, almost every level reminded me of some other platformer game. But I do have a question. Would it be possible to manipulate the rocks to fall closer to the swing-apult thingy at the cave cat boss?

The game itself would have bored me. On the other hand, I have a simple mind that couldn't stop laughing at how you made sure to try and make as many competitors as possible crash (I especially liked that one in the 2nd track I think, where you taunted him, then caused him to crash in mid-air). Anywho, unnecessary yes vote.

From the description it seems that there are known improvements? I'll go watch the movie now.

Well, it would be cool if you ended up being the bad guy... Such a twist would be enough for me to change my vote to a silent yes.

I'll add a meh vote. The game wasn't really interesting, and the music in some areas was kind of aggravating. By the way, I didn't really understand the end. Were your pals actually the bad guys, or were you the bad guy?

If I recall, you need magic cards or something, some of them have abilities that require the crisis bar. Like that wind card or thingy that you start with can heal you in battle when the crisis gauge is full or somesuch.
