Might make more sense to disallow more than 8 sprites on lines that have at least 8 sprites with the same x and y coordinates.

I'm not a Bizhawk developer, but I can say it would be decidedly non-trivial to properly fix the issue.

Those glitches are the result of inaccurate emulation, not a bad dump. They can be fixed by emulating the halting of the HuC6280 that occurs while attempting to access VRAM during DMA, or "fixed" by overclocking the emulated HuC6280 so that it runs much faster than normal(though that will probably cause mid-frame scanline effect timing glitches).

Don't label something as coming from "Mednafen" when you're not actually using Mednafen. The code of the Mednafen cores in RetroArch are all mucked with, and I'm not sure if they're even using "pce", or the non-default inferior "pce_fast" module, from Mednafen. Additionally, the PCE frame rate is slightly variable, something that AVI can not represent properly. Use Mednafen 0.9.x's QuickTime recording capability instead.
