Apparently there is an easy mode. What exactly is the differences between that and normal?

Also, in Moons we explicitly allow esoteric goals as long as the definition feels solid and the movie is entertaining, the guideline you quoted existed long before we created tiers, and can't be taken as a rule in such cases.
Indeed the sentence at the start of that very section states

The reason that specifically was suggested was because it would likely be an example of a goal that would feel strange to the audience. This goal does not feel strange to me at all.

Two things. One, they're guidelines, they're not rules. Two, he presses y there in that spot to grab a barrel, not to run.

I think your keyboard/controller was ghosting so bad it could only press one key/button at a time you might want to look into that.

Except it's used for more than just running so not really? Also it would still be "Minimal", not "No".

I do want to mention that if we’re considering renaming to somthing like “No Y presses” then that would be incredibly misleading since the Y button has to be used for one of the bosses.
I mean "Minimal Y-Presses" would be extremely accurate, that's not the problem with that label though. It's just that it sounds very mechanical and doesn't let the viewer know what to expect unless they can remember the exact controls off the top of their head.

So personally I see the goal as providing unique and interesting TAS content, the only question I would have would be if there is any better way to rephrase it since you're arguably forced to run at many points. Personally I'd say this is a valid walkathon but that's largely because of all the times in school where I was late to class but there was a "no running in the halls" rule. If I had to guess, my motions then resembled this a bit.

My one gripe about leaving them out completely is that this is full completion: the challenge missions are tracked and unlock bonus content. There doesn't appear to be any other content that is tracked as completed.

So in regards to the goal: Fastest completion is contained in this movie so if this submission were to be accepted as is, it would need to obsolete the current publication. One could theoretically separate the bonus challenges into a separate submission, however, this would have to use SRAM as they require beating the game and therefore would not be vault eligible. While the main story is obviously worthy of Moons, the additional challenges get a bit repetitive due to recycling levels. Some challenges are still interesting, the playarounds during timed segments and the pacifist and low ammo runs stick out, however there is still quite a bit of repetitive content. I don't think it's bad enough to send it to Vault but the potential is there. I'd like to hear what others think.

If the difference in difficulty is just number of hits on bosses and length of the autoscroller, I see very little reason to use hardest. EDIT: So additional input is required to actually reach credits from the normal mode movie. Typically we prefer the input given to reach credits however we do also allow for a separate movie file to be given to assist the publisher in creating an encode that shows them, but only if strongly preferred. Please upload a movie to userfiles and indicate your preference and I'll update the original submission accordingly.

I got really bored after the first 3 minutes due to how repetitive it felt. Voting no.

Please do not be too discouraged even if you don't get accepted here with this TAS. Even if there is not a place for publication for this hack on TASVideos, there might be some audience out there that might appreciate it and at the very least you have built up some skills working on this.

The improvement seems perfectly legitimate to me, don't think anybody would miss 8 seconds of menuing.

Main reason I brought up other goals was simply to assess whether there would be another branch in which the training levels when done in this style fit better. Since it was established there would not be, I would like to figure out how people feel about the training levels and whether or not they should be included in this submission.

if the movie would be sufficiently different from this one, it would be recommended to cancel instead.

links to a broken flash player, though I think that person might still be around. Could someone possibly get in contact with them to make it public again?

If improvements are possible, it would be nice if they were known how to be performed rather than locked behind a broken link.

I want to say back in the day I had found ways of avoiding every enemy in the game but it's been a bit and some of them are really hard. I could probably try looking into the remaining airway enemies. EDIT: Never mind I'm dumb actually the air cheap and the air shooters I didn't actually know how to skip.

This may be a bad example as WMJ's movie seems to trigger an image on screen there that yours doesn't. Granted I don't know exactly what that is so I don't know how important it is but it may be a bad example.

The amount of people intentionally inflating their rerecord count is low enough for it to be a non-issue. Besides even if you remove the ability to manually edit it, you could still increase it by just repeatedly loading savestates without doing anything.
