So I didn't really take part in any of this discussion when I really should have but I guess it's better late than never since implementation has stalled. I don't think having playground as a submission status can produce the desired actual listing of playground movies. There's no way for the site to know for example if two submissions share the same branch, short of say a branch label string comparison but that's not good coding and branch labels are easily changed. If all that was desired was for one playground run of each branch be displayed at all and given the playground submission status, this would be enough. However, for a leaderboard style implementation, it is not enough.
A process similar to, but much simpler than publication is required. "Add Playground listing" should be somewhere as a page that people with the proper permissions can go to. The page should be a form with
- Submission
- Branch label
- Any existing encodes (in case they are not in the submission text)
- Any existing previous fastest playground listing that is beaten. I know people would like it handled automatically but this fails to take into account emulator differences, which is a common occurrence in TASing.
Anything I am missing?
