He's working on a no save DKC speed run now, but after he's done with that he plans on doing a speed run for ALttP.

It's July 5th now, so why isn't the new version Snes9x on their site yet?

If you're talking about the falling through corners glitch, we knew about that already.

Every movie on the site was played in slow motion. If there happens to be one that wasn't played in slow motion, then it probably isn't very good and should have been rejected.

It's entirely possible to simulate auto-fire by slowing down the emulator to the point where you can easily shoot every other frame. That's only true if you're using the 60 fps hack. I think some of the Megaman movies were made before the 60 fps hack was created.

Well I don't know what an fvm file is, but assuming you meant fmv, just click on Config then Speed, and then change the number next to ExecSpeed.

they all jump on the clouds The only purpose of jumping on the clouds is to get more coins. Jonas Strandman just wasn't such a good movie maker, but the slowness of his video had nothing to do with running on the clouds, that just made it less fancy.

So how's your DKC speed run going so far? Have you done any runs through the whole game yet?

Your cache stores the non-logged-in page, and you're actually logged in. I don't think that would be the problem since when I click on submit movies I'm still not logged in. Your cookie settings prevent you fromlogging in. The Wiki doesn't like the space in your name. Do you know how I could fix those problems?

The links to the Contra 3 and SMW smvs don't work. Can someone with editting powers fix that? Btw, I already asked this but no one seems to have answered me yet. Does anyone know why I'm not able to login at the nesvideos site? When I type in my username and password and click login, it just loads the login page again, but I'm not logged in.

Oh, I see, are they still make changes or is there some other reason it's postponed? Btw, by 6/11/04 I meant 6/30/04. I'm not sure where I got that 11 from, but I suppose it doesn't matter since I should have read the previous posts before posting.

It's 6/11/04 now, so where's that official version they were supposed to release? Can someone give me a link to it? I can't seem to find it on the Snes9x site.

Mister DAN's proposed disclaimer may not have been the best, but I don't want to give the appearance that we're absolutely sure that the current disclaimer explains everything perfectly and can't be improved anymore, and that we're not open to suggestions, so I'm going to leave this open, and that way if other people want to make suggestions for how to improve the disclaimer, or if Mister DAN wants to respond to what we've said since his last post, they'll be able to.

But the official release is tomorrow. Is it really worth emailing it so it can be hosted just so people can have it 1 day sooner?

No, I'm pretty sure you have more than 1 frame. I think if you wait a little too long he'll just start moving, so the next time you hit him he won't be in exactly the same place.

"The video you are about to see is an illegitiamte hoax. It was created using a recordable savestating emulator and should not be confused as a legitimate run." Apparently you think this would be an appropriate disclaimer that gives the necessary information. If this is the case, then if we use this disclaimer it can't be a hoax, because hoaxes are intended to fool people, and would try to hide information. I thought the current disclaimer (which did last long enough to be read) which included the words "tool assisted" was enough, but if just knowing that tools were used to make the gameplaying easier isn't enough and you need to know all the details of exactly how Famtasia works, then how about something like a 6 second disclaimer that says: "This emulator movie was made using save states and slow motion as a tool to perfect the gameplay of this entertaining movie, and is not a legitimate record." I propose to Bisqwit that each video he encodes have a disclaimer at least 10 seconds in length which reads as the following: For most people, I think only 6 seconds would be more than enough to read a disclaimer of that length. Anything from 4 to 7 would probably be fine, but 10 would just be boring and annoying. Otherwise, as a competative gamer who is having more and more difficulty proving my accomplishments with the advent of these illegitimate videos How would you have more difficulty proving your accomplishments now that more people are making Famtasia movies? Famtasia has been around since 1999, but it just wasn't so popular, but it was still possible for people to make speed runs with it and attempt to pass them off as legit. Now that so many people are making Famtasia movies (though very few claim them as legit), websites that keep track of video game scores will see what Famtasia is capable of and they'll just be much more careful, so if anything, the recent popularity of Famtasia has helped prevent legit and Famtasia movies from being mixed up. If no one knew about Famtasia, then if anyone tried to pass off a Famtasia movie as legit he could easily get away with it. If you don't like the community, stay away from it. Well he hasn't flamed yet or said that he doesn't like the community in this topic, he's just trying to help improve the disclaimer. Despite what he's said on GameFAQs, we shouldn't assume that he's here to cause trouble, so as long as he stays civilized there's no need to tell him to go away. http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=339&highlight=complain Read this Mister DAN. Btw I don't mind if people like you are frustrated.I'm doing these videos and that's all. It seems that you missed the point of his post. He didn't call anyone a cheater or unproffesional, or tell us to stop making the movies. His post was about what the disclaimer should be. He spoke politely, and he wasn't too unreasonable in his request, so if you don't agree with him, then instead of being arrogant you should logically explain why you don't think his request is unreasonable, explain what you find objectionable and/or false about his disclaimer, and outline exactly what the point of tension is. If you are correct, then you shouldn't have any trouble politely explaining these things, and if you can't then maybe his point was stronger than you thought it was. Please lock this thread I'd rather see some intelligent discussions and hopefully an agreement on what the proper disclaimer should be, so for now I'll keep this topic open, but if it ends up turning into a flame war, then I most certainly will lock it. I see... Apparently the truth strips the fun away. Which comment in this topic implied that the truth strips the fun away? I think we're all in agreement that people should know the truth, but I think some of us aren't in agreement about what information is necessary to make sure that people know the truth, how much detail should be included, and what information should be in the movie itself and what information can be at the site instead.

I think I might try just beating the red moldorms with the lazer shot technique (double hit trick). What's the lazer shot technique? Is that when you stab one moldorm and the beam hits the other moldorm? - The potion trick. Yeah, that's banned around the books, so if you do get it to work, it will be scorned at. But I'll try to make a video of doing it again so you can see it. What's the potion trick and why would it be banned? I thought the fastest way to kill Ganon is to just keep hitting him at the exact moment that he disappears, and he won't move at all so you can just stay in the same spot. If that's what you're talking about, it seems kind of silly to ban that. If you're talking about something else, then I don't know how a potion could possibly help you kill Ganon faster, so I wouldn't mind if you explained what the potion trick is.

1. Check there : http://tasvideos.org/movies.cgi?mode=list&maxage=1209600 That just shows all the movies added in the past 14 days, but it doesn't say when. It would be helpful if he added back the scrolling thing to that page that listed when each movie was added so I could easily check what was added since the last time I visited the site. 4.Well I'm open for suggestions and ideas.Just come visit us on chat. Server: irc.enterthegame.com Channel: #nesvideos4. Are all uploaded fmvs considered to be published, or can someone just upload an fmv that he doesn't want to be published, such as one that demonstrates a particular glitch in the game? 5.Yeah at the submissions page but you must be logged.Note that your login and pass are the same as actual forum login and pass. Well I know what my username and password is, but when I enter them nothing happens and I just see the same screen again, and when I try clicking on submit movies I see that I'm not logged in yet. 6.There: http://tasvideos.org/players.cgi?mode=list That just links to each player's movies. I was talking about pages such as this one: http://tasvideos.org/Phil.html?rev=3 Is there anywhere I could find a list of all of those pages? 7.Their submissions and their personnal page. I have another question. What exactly can judges edit? Also, can someone be in more than one user level? I also have two more question. Is there any way to see all the movies or fmvs for a particular game? Also, is there any way to submit articles to the page, such as a walkthrough for a game? Sorry if the answers to these questions are obvious, but it would be much easier to figure these things out on my own if I was able to login.

When I try to login at the nesvideos site nothing happens and it doesn't let me login. Does anyone know what's wrong? Also, the new site is a little confusing, so I have a few questions about it: 1. What happened to the list that said when movies were added that used to be in a scrolling thing at the top of the nesvideos page? 2. Where can I see the movies that were submitted? 3. How am I supposed to know which user level everyone is in? 4. Who decides which movies get published? Can any judge decide that a movie should be published, or do they vote on it? Also, will Bisqwit still be encoding all the movies or do the judges encode the movies, and if so can the judges upload the movies? 5. Are players able to upload fmvs that aren't being published to the site? 6. Where could I see a list of all the personal pages? 7. What exactly are registered users allowed to edit?

If you hold Ctrl+Alt+Shift you will only draw 1 card in draw 3 mode. May be useful, or cheating. You decide. I don't think we should allow that for this competition. You can post times that you got by doing that if you want, but make sure you say that you did it if you did. Anyway, an even more useful code is Alt+Shift+2.

I was just wondering how good you all are at Solitaire. I don't really care too much about points, so in this topic we'll just compete to see who can win the fastest. So far my best time for Draw One and Standard scoring is 98, and I think that's a pretty good time, so let's see if anyone can beat me. I haven't attempted any Draw Three speed runs yet, but feel free to post times for that also. My brother said he got 141 in Draw Three.

Never underestimate the power of save states and slow motion. No matter how good the legit speed run is, you'll always be able to find plenty of ways to improve it. I wouldn't be surprised if 45 minutes, or maybe even 44 minutes was possible.

DKC- 47:00 It may be possible to get 46 in a speedrun, I'll find out soon enough. I just looked at Penev's website and I noticed he said he beat the game with 101% in 46 minutes on an emulator (I assume this was with save states). He also said that he beat the game from start to end in 27 minutes on an emulator. Here's the page so you can check that out if you want: http://www.geocities.com/spenev/karttimes.html

Well I think it would be a good idea if you do a level 6 run, but finish the DKC run first.
