So I've decided for now, the route and the times I’m not revealing. Oh no, are you starting to catch TG syndrome, Sleepz? I think TSA is annoyed now, so it seems this might backfire for you and instead greatly increase the chance of your run being beaten. Edit: Lol, now that I'm reading over this post, I really like that term TG syndrome, maybe I should add it to the glossary. ;)

This guy got a sub-30 while trying to beat the TAS, which he thinks is the WR. GJ GameFAQs. Yeah, and what about that guy who beat Genisto's 10:54 SMB3 TAS on a real console? You can't trust everything people claim on gamefaqs, it's very likely that he's BSing.

TSA, I remember awhile ago you mentioned a sub-33 run that some Japanese guy did. Do you remember what the exact time was? Is the Japanese version of the game slower or faster and by how much?

Is the chess tournament over yet?

The first idea brought up was using the Magical Rod vs ever getting the White Sword, enabling a different route. I'm confused, how could that possibly be faster? They both do the same damage, the white sword is less out of the way, you can get it sooner, you don't need to kill a room of enemies first, and you save 2 keys.

After consulting with two others on this I'm curious who these two others are, anyone we've heard of? there is an extremely risky option plausible for a human run that actually nobody has considered yet and it's being researched on emulator at the moment to verify it's worth it and doable Do you mean something in the TAS that was never considered for an original console run, or something that no one ever thought of? What is this risky option you're talking about? Is it just what you said in the next paragraph or do you have something else in mind? Is it gambling twice? Edit: Btw, Sleepz, when are you gonna be sending in this vid? I just asked Radix about this, and...
mjf345: has richard said anything to you yet about his loz speedrun? do you know if he plans on sending you the vid? brickmasterradix: no mjf345: :-( maybe i'll have to start bugging him about that, i hope he didn't forget about sda brickmasterradix: if he thought the captures of his last run were crap, tell him they got recaptured and are great now

If you don't like the term tool-assisted speedrun, Arc, then how about toolassistedspeedrun?

How about everyone just calls them TASs? People that like the term "tool-assisted speedrun" can think of it as standing for that, and other people can think of it as standing for "time-attack superplay". Then everyone will be happy. Edit: Omg, this is amazing! I just noticed that there's a checkbox for minor edits now! This is my dream come true! Hm, I wonder if this should be a minor edit. Maybe not, I have to share my amazing discovery experience with everyone. :)

What version of Snes9x do you need to get this rom to work? If you have a question, please read the FAQ first to see if your question has already been answered.[/bisqwit] Try looking here for the answer: http://tasvideos.org/EmulatorHomepages.html#snes9x_

you cant have 4 perfect players, one has to lose Why is that? Don't some characters have advantages over others? Whichever is the best character will win, but that doesn't mean the others didn't play perfectly, just like you can play connect 4 perfectly and still lose because you went 2nd.

So who's gonna remove the paragraph from the wikipedia article? We can't let it stay there.

Sleepz, are you ever gonna do another SMB3 speedrun to send to SDA? SDA does allow the Bowser's Castle shortcut where you go through the wall in case you didn't know already. I'm sure you wouldn't want someone to just do that shortcut to get a cheap win on you, and I think Angrewg (he got 5:09 in SMB) said on the TG forum that he was going to attempt an SMB3 speedrun eventually.

Michael, yes, it’s a new WR. There’s also a slight chance that it might not be beaten. This should be interesting. After his OoT speedrun, I think TSA is planning on doing LoZ next. So far, every time he's said he's gonna beat a WR he's kept his word. Will this be the first time he fails? How unbeatable is your time? Sub-33? Sub-32? You have to stop counting screens. But counting screens is fun! It's my hobby. Do you really want to take away my only joy in life? :( *starts crying* Anyway, more seriously, what about those extra 40 rupees you need to get that aren't from caves? Do you need to kill any more enemies than you would have or spend more time picking up the rupees? Btw, 35 seconds is quite a lot, I'd assume the difference would also be pretty big if you're not picking up the magical sword. Is it possible this route is also better for a TAS? (maybe I'm being forgetfull but I'm pretty sure the TAS whistles to 1 for level 6)

Sleepz, in that route you posted, why are you getting the arrows and bait just before level 7? You have to walk an extra 6 screens for that. Why not just get the bait before level 2, then get 100 rupees before level 7, then whistle to level 1, and get the arrows on the way to level 6?

The triple verification will be finished any day now. Triple verification of what? I hate it when people do this! >:( Just tell us, did you or did you not beat the LoZ WR, and if you did, what was the time? If you did beat the WR, you better be sending a vid to SDA also and not just TG.

Any day now. What's any day now? Do you mean you'll beat the WR any day now?

Still no star for the ALttP movie. :( Can you name just a single thing that's bad about the movie? It obviously can't be poor game choice because many people consider it to be the best game of all time.

I could technically set up an SNES and play DKC between moves, I don't think that's against the rulebook. Yeah, go for it! Also turn the music up really loud so your opponent can't think.

Just one last excuse: chess tournament in 9 days :P. I'll finish this run eventually though, since the bounty is waiting for me. Wtf? That's a pathetic excuse! I've been waiting months for the first day of summer when you'd have more free time just so I could remind you to get back to speedrunning DKC and this is what I get for it? I'm sure the DKC speedrunning must have been already scheduled much more in advance than the chess tournament. Tell them you can't go because your busy playing DKC, or even better, take DKC and an SNES with you and play while you're there! Also, even if you do go, as you said it's not for another 9 days, so that's 9 days you have that you can spend speedrunning DKC before the chess tournament.

The only problem is that I don't have as much free time these days to do runs, unlike during summer where I could do many runs each day. Ok Deviance, you have no more excuses now. Today is June 21st, the first day of summer, so time for you to get back to speedrunning DKC. :) Let's see a 43 minute run already!

we all agree on using a saved game with 150cc? I thought using a saved game was against the rules. Is there gonna be an exception for this movie? Btw, I know this game has some codes, are there any codes that unlock 150cc?

Sorry for the n00bish question, but are there any differences between the 4 characters, or is it just a matter of preference? Btw, in case you didn't know about this site already, here are some scores for this game: http://www.klow.net/smb/rankings.php?game=smbjr

I think it would be a good idea to have the Yoshi's Island tricks on the SuperMarioBrosTricks page.

I thought I remembered voting when I first watched this run several days ago, but I just noticed that I didn't vote yet so I just voted yes now.
