Video description needs to be updated - Death is not used as a shortcut, but death is used as a shortcut.
Great video. The whole team at Ness' Nightmare made me lol pretty hard.
Music of first level took me back to horrible memories of IWBTG. Funny how it worked in reverse after all this time.
Also the site page for this run is broken.
Holy crap I never noticed that MMX5's bosses are cut and paste from previous Mega Man games.
Obviously the Devil Dragon, but also that was Rangda Bangda in the second stage, and I could have sworn that Ridiculous Dingbat at 9:50 has the same attack pattern as Shade Man from MM7. Even the music for the first two was the same.
Midair Hadoken against Rangda Bangda was awesome, hadoken on Sigma at the end was funny, and for some reason I lol at the mid-boss in Spark Mandrill's stage when you 'walk' on the puddle of water.
I didn't think the four visits to Armored Armadillo's stage would be worthwhile but they were interesting in their own way.
Loved the use of Boomerang to snag all the Heart Tanks and Sub-Tanks.
Main punchline isn't nearly as funny as the little things you notice later, IE, that they're playing for Hearts or that Dracula has no points while Death is in the lead over Belmont.
Firstly, I wanted to say this
Okay, now that I got that out of the way. Great TAS. I like the speedruns on SDA that have been done with SOTN for a while now, and this was something I never thought was possible.
Having said thus, I noticed that this video TAS is slowing my computer down quite a bit when I run it, lagging up switching browsers, opening and moving windows, scrolling on websites and explorer, etc. I'm using VLC and my computer was ordered and put together from high-end parts only last month, and I've never had it run this slow. Is there something up with the encoding?
I like the return of the Recommended movies.
Though it would be kind of nice to have the stars all be links to "Recommended Movies" page.
I dunno, just a random thought.
I could totally see that, but I felt like sitting and explaining things was getting on the technical side, whereas what I was hoping to do was make running jokes but otherwise let you watch the speedrun. Sort of like MST3K's tactic.
I suppose I probably don't have the voice for commentary anyway, heh. Can't deliver jokes that well.
Checking out CF's in a click.
I could sit down and make out a script of funny things to say and try and get as many jokes as possible in there, much like an MST3K instead of highly technical commentary.
Although I think I was just too proud of my Shinespark joke.
I mean I won't if everyone pretty much agrees yeah, it wouldn't be interesting. But I'd like to make a contribution beyond just watching since I've got no interest in making TAS runs despite being a huge fan.
I could give it a second attempt and just flat out say "Yeah I'm going to steal some jokes from JXQ, thought I'd let you know" and go from there.
Though I suspect that SL's probably right.
What's inappropriate about it? The fan-commentary on the Earthbound speedrun went in the SNES area. I figured this was the closest thing that was similar.
So I did.
I did it at like 1-3 in the morning, so I might do a second take and write down some of the better jokes I used. Most of it was me just watching the video and casting some jokes, and trying to avoid ripping off of JXQ. I think I did okay, but I might do a second run and keep some of the jokes in mind.
Given some of the positive feedback to JXQ's and NapsterPSX's ones I figured I would cast my hand in here.
I'd love some feedback. Anyone know where I could host it from? It's 163 MB.
I'd just like to say I enjoy the hell out of Guanobowl's run if only because I merged the AVI and commentary together.
I am, however, interested in an Any% and All Medallions run, and downloading the test encode now.
Loving the run so far. Having seen Guanobowl's so many times I was really surprised when you used the shield sliding trick right as you entered Hyrule Field.
Reflexively said "It's a sweet fuckin' name, that's what kind of name it is!" at Spirit Temple with Nabooru.
Favorite moments: Bombjumping to get the block in Dodongo's Cavern. Skipping Kaporea Gaborea by Stick/Sword switching. Blocking the Octorock's shots and sending them in crazy directions. Leaping into Barniade to force his attack pattern to resolve quicker.
Stopped watching it cause I had a thought;
I'm thinking I just might do a commentary on this without recycling any of JXQ's jokes. I could think of some funny stuff to say and I wouldn't make it just one take. And less phone calls :P Would anyone be interested, provided it gets accepted and published and all?
D'awww
Was disappointed at the lack of input, but I'll keep old JXQ's hilarious run just cause of it. Downloading this one now.
EDIT: I know why it isn't there, and I understand it, but it's still a letdown.
That was entertaining as all hell. It was like watching a pro-leaguer blaze through the game while fucking with the opponent. That was awesome.

LOL @ fake wavedashing after Fox dies
Beating Giant DK
KOing Yoshis on Yoshi Team with eggs
Chainspiking Samus on the lava
Why, you've shown me the light! This one sentence just destroyed the foundation of my affection for playing Brawl competitively! I am so glad you are here to bestow this wisdom upon us!
Christ, I can understand preferring Melee to Brawl but ranting for an entire post about how much Brawl sucks for balance issues (nevermind the fact that Melee was Space Animals, A Ninja, and Some Prissy Bitch With A Longsword) as if to try and convince us to toss aside the game is just ridiculous.
As for specific examples, Kirkq did his job just fine. Brawl is just a different game. I wouldn't mind you preferring one over the other inasmuch as you demand that we prefer it too, by making hours of statements about how hard Brawl sucks and is unbalanced and caters to spamming etc etc etc. [/b]
Favorite part: "Idiots at SWF".
That was classy.
LOL @ Billy uppercutting Jimmy at 8:25.
Doublemint LOL @ Billy and Jimmy punching each other at 8:15.
Hilarious. Easy yes.
EDIT: Movie encoding information is for the Kick Master video released a few days ago. Might want to fix that.
Silly question
What exactly happens in Launch Base Zone 1 that causes Launch Base Zone 2 to forget to be played?
Actually, better question: What is done to Launch Base Zone 1 that causes LBZ2 to forget to run?
