Its possible to prove that savestates are used but not possible if slowdown was being used. You could very easily play a game conservatively using frame advance and pass that off as a near untouchable speedrun. Emu has inconsistencies in speed anyway. I think you would have to record using camstudio showing a windowed emulator e.g pro64 or other emulator that does not have slowdown or savestates.

I think it would be better if someone downloaded it and compressed it and put it on the archive.org. I hate bit-torrents because I get excetionally low download speeds. If someone has a director account on YouTube you could put it there.

Actually, it would be best to play the the inverted song of time so delays from being told what time of day it is can be avoided more. Once the oath of order is obtained you can simply glitch into the top of the clock tower using the levatating trick. BTW you should try and get 130 ruppees at the start as a Deku, you simply put 31 in the bank. This means you can purchase a bombag and 20 bombchu's. This would also mean that bombchu's would have to be used very wisely as well.

I guess this is illegal, but this is how to do CC on Emu. It would look cool leaving Kokiri early to do it. A very efficent one as well http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RZukjZ5yOZw&NR

The only thing with TASing this game is that Mupen isn't ideal. I don't know all the tricks so I would need a lot of assistance and being able to conserve all these bombchus and bombs for the floating tricks could cause planning problems. I wonder if the game can be done without the inverted song of time since a day lasts about an hour so its probally more than possible to do it. I think this game could be completed in 2:15, and has a barage of tricks compared to OoT.

Would it actually be worth skipping the hookshot in the next run, after all with the route revisions you would only need to use 5 bombchus in the child adventure. Do the endless sword spin from Dampe's roof, cross the the first gap in Shadow with bombs. The Forest Temple could be quickly reached with one bomb and 5 bombchus. The next route would probally look something like this Kokiri (skip slingshot/ use deku nuts on Gohma) Spirit (find a way to do diamond bridge room in Spirit without bomerang or slingshot and don't learn requiem) Death warp after gauntlets Lost Woods Goron City (blow boulders) Death mountain (toss bomb) Dondongo (Use boosts to get to get bomb bag) Magic fairy (still need to check if its neccessary to get magic) Hyrule Castle (incase its neccessary for magic) Zoras river (use stored ground jump to avoid owl and one to blow boulders/ use cucco to skip playing lullaby) Zoras Domain (bottle skip) Jabu (leave as little health as possible) Death warp after Jabu using bomb to kill Link Head for Market from Kokiri Adult Graveyard (bomb boost from Dampe's house/ ignore Dampe's grave) Shadow (bomb boost across gap get hover boots and leave) Head for meadow via death mountain learn Minuet and use bombs and chus to get to forest Forest (beat Forest) Head for Lake Hylia and steal rod (we may need to plant bean or learn Scarecrow song) Bottle adventure Temple of Time Learn Prelude and become child Imeadiatley become Adult again Do Ganon Early the hard way Ganon's castle Complete first spirit chamber manipulating a bombdrop from beamos and Get 20 bombchu's from the next room Do Ganon glitch with bombs Use a mixture of arrows bombs and chus to clear the three rooms Get close to Ganondorf and use bottle to swipe ball and light arrows to stun him; pause and equip sword ; defeat Ganondorf in one cycle Escape castle (avoid making Zelda scream since Guano lost time through that) Ganon Battle Complete Game Estimated time 2:10

I have no idea how games that use 1/1000th of a second could possibly give any form of accuracy e.g. Mario Golf: TT, but then again would can figure out exactly any time in a game with clever calculations, but knowing what part of the animation hit a certain flagged point in the game.

I think MM would be harder because of the very high octane tricks. It is interesting since the gaming order can be completeley abused. I'm fairly certain the order would be Goron Area >> Zora Area >> Ikana >> Deku Area. You would need a heck of a lot of bombs and chus though and that the eventual completion time would be somewhere in between Guano's completed run and the next BA + Ganon Early run. Good job; I did secretly doubt that you wouldn't be able to complete this. You just have to remember that the ruppee run and tree are probally the hardest parts in the game. Just be thankful that there is a lot of researchers who are still trying to find out stuff in this game. The game hasn't been fully ripped apart yet I still belive that there is other tricks although some generally out of reach e.g. Leaving Kokiri early , lots of options but none to promising Getting on top of the area as a child in Kokiri in to avoid Mido and cutscene with tree Doing the room in Spirit with diamond and falling bridge without the slingshot or bomerang. The best way is doing something simalar to what we see being done in the Deku tree in order to skip 4 rooms, but by using the green skull monster. (This would be a lifesaver) Getting bombchu's from well without explosives Breaching DoT. I firmly belive its impossible, it requires superspeed and there is no items other that a sword, sheild and ocarina. Even if its breached the door forces the player to the side and into the void. Getting pass the door again as an adult wouldn't cause that much bother since the walls can be breached and from that point Adult Link can use a death warp to pass the door. Thats simply the Child Stuff I'll cover the Adult stuff later.

The next run would tear the game apart even more with the BA + Ganon Early strategy. I've voted yes even though there's a lot of imperfections in it (I'm not critizing the areas where luck was required for the next room) which probally meant that the game was done mostly using slowdown instead of frame advance and there is a lot of methodical errors in it e.g. ruppee run, parts of tree and Forest Temple as well. I've thought about doing a TAS on this game provided Mupen gets updated and becomes more friendly to use e.g. Auto Stick Spin Manual Angle and Tilt input system (very useful)* Frame Skip goto frame input ** * e.g. 250.51 degrees and 0.78 tilt (0 being neutral 1 being full tilt) ** e.g GOTO frame |45678| (| X | = input frame box) Its difficult to explain but I hope you understand what I'm trying to say

How come save states never work for me? They load at the correct frame but automatically give me control at that given frame. I've tried checking it as read only but it makes no difference now I'll have to play it at 1000% speed as usual.

Whoa I never thought I would miss so much. I'm sorry I wasn't around during the poe boost, but I did give a detailed description somewhere earlier in the topic. Seriously its not worth busting your ass over it especially since that holy grail bomb glitch could be done quicker. If you're doing another run then I take you'll be doing Ganon Early + BA, which could probally save about 20 mins overall although I haven't gone to the bother of calculating it correctly. I'll watch it in full on Monday providing you're able to complete it by then. On a side note without seeing the Adult run, you could get the arrows without any keys and withing about 3-4 mins. Edit : No it doesn't work my method was to beat the first stalfos room and use the bomb method to reach the top of the room but it doesn't work plus there is iron bars on both the doors at the top so you need to com efrom one of the doors on the oposite side i.e convetional route. However, on a rather pointless not you can get on top of the raised platform that lowers after the first stalfos is beaten in the top half of the room and from the platform you can glitch through the walls with a jump slash.

NSM said: it isn´t better you get some esmerald in Star Light Zone 2? If I remember in JKQ´s a big ring appears :p No, that was Spring Yard 2 and in Star light he only collected 16 rings within 17 seconds, which makes it the shortest stage in the game. I don't see how 50 rings could be got with a 6 second diversion.

YESSS!!!! I've finally aquired all 6 emeralds and I'm currently on Spring Yard 3. Overall compared to the pure speed TAS I diverted 2:33:58 of time. So from here on in since no stages need to be completed in 30 seconds since the two star light stages can be completed in 22 and 17 seconds. I can now try and nit pick JXQ's although I doubt if there is many improvemts to it and I'm even more doubtful if the in game timer can be lowered in any of the stages. So here it is. I think Porugal will win tonight since they've already had their bad patch and come through it. The players who are being re-instated will feel like they've been given a second chance and will take the opertunity to do well. This is also probally the first world cup where Italy have at least adapted a positive attidude towards winning games rather than trying not to lose them. I wonder if Juve will be relagated to the bottom division. EDIT: God dammit another wrong prediction

If anyone does another TAS for this game then this would be of relavence. This is how to do Ganon's Glitch without a sword, I only pray that light arrows on B don't require and sap magic away since the magic meter isn't refilled before the Ganondorf fight. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Q7Tbi_BUhI Super slide works as well but the angle to slide directly into the tower isn't there.

You could make like a pseduo mail chess match. Where every frame you send your opponent your 'move' (inputs). This would be cool but due to so many frames would take an extremely long time to make. The idea of 1 person plays 2 players against each other is a cool idea too, and a bit more practical. I'd certainly watch both ideas if they were done.
Yeah I like that idea if you have 2 forum members coming up with an input for every on a match that lasts for 1:30 overall, it would take forever though since last time I played mail chess it 6 months to complete. I think a small collection of matchups would be could that have an overall running length of 5-10 mins would be good. I'd definitley watch it.

I watched the run in its entirety and its very good considering it was a test run that only took 4600+ re-records. My favourite bit was the the elavator sequence 25 mins into the movie although I have some concerns over it. Sacrificing huge amounts of time to do something that looks cool to you, but merely looks stupidly time consuming to me. I got the impression that the bosses were'nt being attacked at the first oportunity and you weren't manipulating their behaviour correctly. I would definitley vote yes if you re-did this movie with improvements Please forgive me as I'm not too familar with the Shinobi series I was just giving my judging from what I've seen from an entertainment perpective.

It would probally be easier if two player were controling one character using frame advance. I don't know how you could control 4 players at once, since there would have to be some kind of saved input for that frame. It would still be just as hard as creating any other TAS, since you don't want to give the impression that it was deliberaley setup so a certain player would win or make it seem like oponent character just deliberatley took a hit instead of dodging or countering it.

Silly me I though I needed to break 24.33, I calculated it as being 24.25 or if I being mathmatically correct it would be 24.249999999....... I would like some advice on this stage although there is no way I think I could relistically get into the lower half of 23.33 since I don't see how I could arrive directly at the button/bouncer with 50 rings without have to do a delayed jump i.e. hit the box with 10 rings. I could have re-alligned that jump when I was upside down and collect one instead of 2 but there is simply not enough rings at the start to do that, so theoretically the higher half of 23 is possible but not <23.333.

I manually timed the raw playing time for my timing I Started when Guano gains control of Link in his house Stopped the intant the death animation occurs after Spirit Started again when control was regained in Links house Stopped when master sword sequence was activated My overall timing was 1:14:30, which is roughly what could probally be achieved by a speedster whose trying to activate the sword sequence as early as possible without bomchu's or getting SG's. What did everyone else get. Although its not clearly defined when Link becomes an Adult I clearly feel that the master sword sequence is easier to time and is when you last have control of YL.

Aiming for the fastest time wouldn't be the target. It would be achiveing an untainable level of play such as dodging and countering at the last available frame/pixel. Street Fighter isn't an ideal game, but maybe I'm wrong. If there was a good Saturn Emu with slow down and re-recording then I could re-create a 5-5 2p vs team match on Virtua Fighter 2 (just as an example).

I don't know how times <45 can be achived legally. I know there is the warp song trick that can give time of 0 secs, but it takes 4-5 mins to do in real time. The best I've done during an actual run is 54 secs. I can't remeber my record since I'm not a fan of the Dampe race minigame.

What a complete bastard. I'm 11 frames ahead of the previous run, but the moving platform before the signpost was slightly higher and caused me to increment my jump by two units and for each frame that you need to increment the jump by it costs 5 frames, but at least I made a 1 frame improvement on marble 3. Spring Yard will be easy and I'll experiment if 23 is possible (unlikely). If not I'll go for 30 secs. I trully convinced that sub 1:13 is impossible unless there is some zipping glitch. I've done Spring Yard as well and I (think I(please confirm) ) broke 24.33. I couldn't see a better route through because I don't think think its possible to fly directly into the the button and hit the yellow bouncer with 50+ rings. http://rapidshare.de/files/24862960/Sonic_the_Hedgehog_1_ALL_EMERALDS.gmv.html
