It's been well proven that no betting strategy can beat roulette, unless you note down every number in order to figure out if there is a wheel bias or if the croupier has a signature throw.
If you were to toss a coin a million times you'd expect an near exact 50/50 ratio or at least 49.99999/50.000001. The most times I've ever made a coin land on the same side in a row is 14, but it doesn't matter if I did 20 in a row because each flip is exactly 50/50.
In essence short term = high variance; Long term = Low Variance
However, there is a game where you put a ball under one of 3 cups allow someone to choose, then remove one which doesn't have the ball under it then ask them if they want to switch. I don't know the exact maths behind it but mathamatically it's always best switch because it doubles your chances for some reason.
This thread has lost it's purpose. It should perhaps be limited to specific games when there is a submission. A lot of nostalgia circulating around in this topic. Once again for the millionth time, when the site first about it was purely about speed, runners did little to make the runs entertaining such as hugging the right side of a screen during an autoscroller, or running under something rather than jumping over it or killing it. The fact that it was tool assisted automatically made it entertaining to most people. As the site has gone on there has been more emphasis on entertainment and trade offs than ever before. *So everyone please shut the fuck up about it.

Shut up and fuck off. We don't need that kind of attitude around here.
Says more about you than anything else.

I could tell by the nature of his post it was light hearted. I was away last week, but still had my laptop with me. So there was no way I could tell him even if I wanted to. I'm pretty sure Bisqwit said somewhere that when requesting something it's more important to say why you need or want to know something. Unless the reason is already immeadiately obvious. But it's better to make a direct request than an indirect request even if you or others think it comes across as rude or arrogant.
A TAS which aims for maximum speed and does not beat a regular speedrun is not only against the rules, it's also shameful. It's a laughing stock.
In response to OoT being suboptimal. At the time when the all temples TAS was submitted I did suggest that it could obselete the current any% because it was superior in comparable aspects. It's likely the current all temples TAS will be obseleted before the any% does, so it could be reconsidered. but it's extremely unlikely there would be a double obseletion.
Also, the the current SDA run is not faster than the movie here when comparable timing methods are used. As we all know it's due to new methods which entirely mock the goals which the current any% must do to advance in the game.
You should also add ones for SMB1+SMB2. As Mukki said you should document all the movies in the obseletion chain including the currently published, not just the bench mark ones.
I wasn't exactly aware that chewing gum was common. I guess it's more to do with coping with stress. if anything it gives off more tells. Personally, I prefer to drink tea as it's good for staying relaxed and calm.
'Meh' vote, I approve of the hack but the whole backwards jumping especially when hitting a low ceiling was off putting. I'd rather listen to the music than hear the looping sound jump.
