As I said, why publish a slow run through of the extremely limiting classic mode when you could make the much more entertaining multiplayer free for all?
I briefly tried out a concept of 1p vs 2p demonstration for Street Fighter. It quickly became evident that I could not do it in a way that could satisfy both an expert of the game and a random viewer. Multiplayer free for all would definitley need to use four players and somehow be able to make every player feel independent of each other. If anyone wants to do it then I hope they actually try to plan it out first by writing ideas down and critizing what they're actually doing; rather than diving into it, doing a bunch of random shit and praying that it will get accepted. As it will end up being "Why would someone behave like this, or do that during a match", or will most likely not be any different or exciting from watching a competitive match on YouTube.

I find Yoshi a bit one dimensional to watch, a more quicker character would have been better say Fox. I'm glad you did the bonus stages this time around but I felt the 1v1 stages were a bit repetitive, since most of them were just drill kick about 10 times and then use a strong tilt attack to knock them off. Meh vote.

The pause delay has been fixed in the new unreleased version of Mupen. Sadly it doesn't have a soft reset, but it will probably be available when its eventually released. From initial experience, hexing out the delay was not successful as it screwed up the ruppee manipulation in the training area, and I can imagine most other areas in the game desyncing as well.

The optimal TAS for a fighting game is doing as much wild and interesting stuff as you can and doing THAT as fast/precise as you can. Watch Mortal Kombat 2.
The best thing a TAS can show in a fighting game is insane combos. Something which I feel the MKII TAS lacks, Rain would have been a better choice IMO. Unfortuneatley <=16 bit generation games don't really allow such an opportunity. You'd have to wait until more modern consoles become TASable so you can do the anime and comic based fighting games which allow for excessive combos.

TAS is a term that has been used long before this site was created and certainly doesn't abreviate to Superplays. It's just a term that was invented to screw with newbies minds. EDIT: It stands for Tool ASsisted, yes we enjoy messing around with peoples heads.

I'm not going to go into depth with this submission other than saying I liked Comicalflop's version better. I don't see the game getting published since there is some people who are hell bent on not seeing the game published.

I think this movie would have grounds to be unpublished as it breaks the rules of the site.

I calculated the Streets of Rage movie I did with Mukki and it comes out to 22.17 kills per minute. EDIT: 1064 - Genesis Streets of Rage (any) by AKA & Mukki - 437 kills in 19:45:45 - 22.17 kills per minute

In recent times I feel this run is genuinely special compared to other submissions. I'm sure that if starred runs still existed or if someone was just about to make a video showing off TASes then excerts from this run would be used.

This game is long overdue, and it's always nice to be reminded of that long tedious quest to find all the globes. It wasn't too difficult to follow given my familarity of the game. I'll give this one a yes vote.

This site started out accepting anything that was technically impressive, no matter how boring it was to watch, because TASing as an art was "new and exciting". Bubble Bobble, one track Top Gear, B.O.B.; they are all uninteresting to watch, yet they were all published because they showed off a technically impressive feat for the time. But we cannot constantly repeat the mistakes of the past if we are to make progress. Since there is no "unpublish" function, we simply do what we can with the old submissions (i.e. make the better), and try to learn from what we did wrong in the past.
Unpublishing would definitly solve some situations, or maybe not accepting an improvement would be the next best thing. In relation to the Top Gear run I don't find it boring to watch, just technically unimpressive. It could be removed if someone was to make a full run of it. As for this run I fail to see how anyone could vote yes to it. Unless you're some die hard fan of the game.

Lol, I really wish there were some wait times in a TAS where this could be done :)
I would totally do that in my run if using the ocarina didn't pause your surroundings... damn that would be awesome.
You could do it when learning the scarecrow song or when doing the ocarina dive.

For a 10 minute run, it doesn't matter if you use PRG0 or PRG1. I did a little comparision between WIPs. The top left being your one done with the block zip at the start, your one on the bottom left (I needed to alter what you did slightly to get this position), the current published run on the top right and my WIP on the bottom-right. It's probably too difficult to spot any major differences between the picures. So I've decided to blow them up, I also put the red dots to make comparisions easier. Compared to the current published run on the top right, my WIP was 2 pixels ahead, your one was 5 and your one with the zip is 9 pixels ahead. Mario moves at 6 pixels a frame when at full running speed so there is 1.5 frames gained. Sadly when I intially tried to do the mushroom glitch I encountered all the lag problems, this is where all the problems came from gaining the frame in the last WIP, but I'm convinced there is a way to avoid it, we just have to test various different aproaches until one works. That way we can jump a frame earlier thus make the mushroom appear a frame earlier and successfully get the mushroom.

I made a mistake when checking hammer bros movement in overworld. It appears you need to gain 2 frames in the first level to minimize it. Anyway I did a gain a frame in the first level but it wasn't enough to avoid the hammer bros. I can't see where an additional frame could be gained in 1-1 unless the mushroom glitch can be done more optimally. Here's the WIP if anyone wants to have a look at it.

Phil, I believe they did all the research they realistically could of before doing the video. You have to remember it's not a authors commentary or even someone who assisted in making the run. Also it's inopropiate to "pause" a run just to explain something. As it would irratate many viewers who just want to watch the run or critique on the commentary itself.

I quite liked the end of stage music and the ending, although some of the levels were a bit 'meh'. Overall I give this a yes vote.

We start with Super Metroid , the video was really well commented so we decided to continue broadcasting and made another video for Megaman X ( it will onlline really soon). You can easilly replicate the effect on a console if you hold the analougue out of position when starting up a game. Doing it however would be useless for all games as it just netruelises movements.

I did some more testing in later levels namely 1-2 and 1-3. If we can get carry the advantage to the end of the level and save 4 frames, then only 1 frame needs to be sacrificed in the next level unless an additional frame could be saved. In 1-3 there would be no need to sacrifice 4 frames at the chest, although to gain any additonal advantage 2 frames would need to be somehow gained before hand. So overall 1-1 = 4 frame gain||no frames sacrificed 1-2 = 4 frame gain||1 frame sacrificed (saving a frame during the level would make it 6 frames) 1-3 = 4 frame gain||no frame sacrificed (saving two frames beforehand would make it 6 frames) Total 12 frames

Nice job on that. Does going through the blocks save time? I noticed you went through the "?" block earlier on, and you are trying to get inside the same one Nitsuja did.
Going through the blocks gives a pixel boost which can be enough to save a frame sometimes two depending on the upcoming situation.

It should be noted that Nitsuja's WIP of the first level is 3 frames ahead of the current published run, but as has been mentioned on several occassions it's necessary to sacrifice those frames to minimize the hammer bros movement in the overworld. I remember Nitsuja mentioned that if he could get an extra frame he could avoid the delay and save 4 frames in total in 1-1. He said he manages to get ahead but the advantage was always getting cancelled out by lag midway through the level. I managed to get ahead and avoid lag as demonstrated in my demo . Unfortunatley I got stuck on the mushroom glitch, I can't seem to do it as optimally as Nitsuja since he lands earlier of the ground than me. Also to complicate it, I need the right speed and sub pixel position to glitch through the upcoming block.

Matrix has never been about story, plot or any character development. Unless you're deeply into Chinese Mythologies then the chances are you watched them purley for the fight scenes. Off the top of my head one fight scene lasts 4 mins, another one lasts nearly 9 mins and a car chase at the end which lasts for over 17 mins.
