You can manipulate anything in the game without wasting frames ;-)

kill more enemies just for fun. All the enemies buzzing around that could have been slain made me sad as you passed them. This run was good, but could have been better if you spent more time focusing on killing enemies without wasting time. Especially because you have 3 types of magic shots that you can switch very fast between to deal with killing monsters without stopping; the homing type especially useful.
Killing enemies for fun tends to cause lag, I tried to put a balance between doing it and not doing it. Its pretty evident when enemies have been killed. You shoud also be aware that you're still limited by how many projectiles you can have on screen, so you can't just do rapid switching between weapons. The blue homing balls are not particularly effective since in certain situations they take ages to land on there intended target and aren't very powerful.
I think you could have done lag reduction better. For one, I noticed that more enemies/sprites/projectiles on screen could cause the game to lag (if you killed more enemies for fun, you could have saved lag frames), and second the dragon super shot thingie really lagged things up. The red frame counter in gens 9.5a is immensely helpful in detecting lag, and I watched carefully and noticed many laggy segments (not fadeouts when the counter increases from not having input control) where you could have prevented it.
Most likely true, I've already touched on the point on killing enemies for fun. The Lava dragon does cause the game to effectivly goto 30 FPS but its super effective in a lot of situations, often when its needed to elimate every enemy on screen. Lag reduction will most likely be the main focus in terms of improvements, but its not as simple as killing everything as quickly as possible before the screen fills up with sprites.

Pulp Fiction is probably the film to watch in terms of learning how to write good screenplay.

The run in some ways is great with Maxim zipping round castle, but I'm not sure it provides suitable middle ground between the glitched sub 30sec run and the 14min semi-glitched Juste run. The main problem is that the game wasn't really designed to be played with Maxim. Other than a secret character who can just own the whole game at will. From reading the submission, the selling point is "each boss is thrashed to a pile of wailing pulp" which kind of reverts back to my earlier point about Maxim being too over powering. I'll vote "meh" in the mean time and let further discussion continue.

Why would you need to worry about the Owl skip, its hardly an obstacle when it comes to low%.

Familiarity is grounds for a standard? Don't you want to show more of the game off without making the run too long?
That sounds ideal, but in reality it will always be in relation to this game "Too short, doesn't show enough of the game" "Too long, boring and repetitive" "Arbitary" So dammed if you do, dammed if you don't culture arises.

This is what cucco collecting should look more like. This is taken from my MQ wip, since then with a few strategic changes 3-5 seconds have been saved. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=b4mpxaHlkW4 This is how Link moves more optimaly from Kokiri to Kakariko. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=RXZmuGp5jyI

No need to mention that in the description as it applies to a lot of games none more so than *cough*Super*Metroid*. It could perhaps be made more clear in the guidelines

Groobo did a test run and got 1:02:17, with TAS conversion that would be about 1:09. He openly admitted that it sucked and only tried to replicate what a speedrun on SDA might look like, thus removes some TAS strats.

Too many errors I'm afraid and yes I did watch all of it. Most common ones were poor sidehopping and backwalking angles, text not being optimally skipped and scrolled through. Also at times you backwalk and even diagonally backwalk excessive distances as Young Link which is known to be a slower form of movement when compared to sidehopping. Also the two very precise tricks in the game didn't look very TAS like. The Temple of Time skip and the bridge skip in Gerudo. Using ^c to line up as well as several twitches and a extended delay before performing both tricks looks very unassisted. Also the Adult Parts had some poor route planning and management which alone cost about 3-4 mins.

That second test is the most disappointing. It kinda rules out being on the bottom for one frame to open the door.
There is a reason for that. Thats because when Mario tries to open a door in a normal situation he must be on the ground for a couple of frames. Within that period the game will check to see if Mario has collided with things like water, lava and paintings etc.

Its faster to skip the minuet cutscece if you were to kill Link just before he triggers the scene.

I find it more arbitrary that some Pokemon games have been obsoleted by entirely different Pokemon games. Saying that one game (that uses one glitch) should be obsoleted by another game (that uses a completely different glitch) only adds to the supposed hypocrisy you speak of. IMO.
Again, another mirror statement from you that was designed to attack me *yawn* EDIT: Clarification I consider R/B/G/Y the same family of games and any slight differences negligible. A version change would be acceptable grounds for obseletion short of switching to different regions with faster texts. The Green run did not obselete the current hour+ run because it used a glitch near the begining which skipped nearly all the game. On the other hand this movie used a glitch which effectively skipped all of the game. So effectively you have 2 glitched any% which 1. Uses a glitch after a few mins of play to skip to the end of the game, which is simalar to ALttP. 2. Uses a glich shortly after gaining control of the main character to skip to the end of the game which is simalar to HoD. Also the way you implied IMO sounded like an attack on me given that it has the same spacing after my last paragraph and there was no reason to use it. My application was to prevent 'I think not [/url]', while your one was well... To imply something which didn't need implying in the first place.

I don't see any problem with modifing RAM addresses in a game as 10's of us have been able to play back the .vbm and verified its legit, of course you made a some what disguised point of how the movie might look fake to outsiders. These acusations will continue to rain down on the site for a very long time to come. It doesn't make it worse than movies on the site which abuse more visual glitches e.g. *wall zipping and clipping glitches. I actually think its more of a credit to the movie and author for being able to find such a unique glitch and implement it. Its way better than the other short glitched movies on the site** I would also say it was an arbitary decision to keep the Green run as well, and will once again build up problems in the future. Creating either impossible or very difficult situations and will likely just enforce the hypocrisy on this site. * Don't try to mention that wall zipping isn't technicaly a glitch ** IMO

Does anyone even know if the keys are actually stored in separate memory locations? It seems very possible that getting a key increments a key count and the lobby key door requires having 2 keys rather than having a specific key. This can be tested by hacking into BitFS before BitDW and seeing if you can open the lobby key door. If this is the case that moat door is worthless and the only chance is to magically glitch the lobby key door into opening.
Why would the programmers do that? Any decent programmer would assign the two keys with seperate variables.

I knew that someone had found a large time saver, but I didn't know a run was being worked on till this broke out. I remember mentioning to SL a while ago that I thought 40 frames might be possible which now seems just about right. Don't worry, I'm pretty much burned out from TASing this game, but I still look for stuff that might be useful for the 70 or 120 star run, I've already mentioned a 20+ second time saver to R_z for later on in his run.

Not that theres been any great adapations to the big screen but I personally think Resident Evil has made the best jump (not that it excels). The big problem I have with adaptions much like Warp mentioned, is that when I go to watch one of them I'm thinking of nothing but the game. So I'm definitley expecting to see actions and elements that I can directly relate to the game much like in Tomb Raider. As for Zelda, Thats a game I really wouldn't want to see fucked up on screen, cartoon maybe but not a live action movie.

And of course the 16star run is long obsolete. I am rejecting this submission.
I wouldn't be opposed to seeing a new 16 star run, as the last 16 star run is the most entertaining SM64 run on this site.
I have talked this over in private. Whether the re-instatement of a 16 star would be acceptable or not idk, but the conclusion is that it should do whatever it wants apart from the step blj which obliterates the game. Of course with the recent 4th category to Super Metroid it would be awkward to reject. I estimate that if a 16 star was submitted Today it would get a time of around... 14:40
