Great work Chemist, the team attacks I mentioned earlier are certainly very useful, although the main one on one fighting strategies that I suggested weren't used, plus you tend to floor enemies without killing them. Anyway very much appreaciated that you showed the glitch being done on a .gmv file. I reckon with that glitch and other known improvements we'd be looking at saving 7-9 mins, where as if we play for the bad ending we could still be a good 2-3 mins faster.
Very tight although make sure you test the possible mega or recoil flip that Petrie showed (and the method I perhaps suggested) as there are a lot of very minor distances to bomb hover in GBT, also when entering the clock tower try to see if its possible to use a Goron boost since you can place a bomb against the door, roll up to it and do a Goron jump.
One main comment about the run is how come you don't use the repeated dolphin dive strategy when using Zora Link? Or does it make no difference from normal swimming.
I noticed in the description that it mentions the player taking the role of a teenager, but doesn't the game start on the main characters 10th birthday.
You could also strongly argue that Arkanoid shouldn't be there as well as Mega Man 5, especially when the movie looks weak compared the other starred Mega Man run.
The older run was unoptimized at the start but once Hyrule was entered the run became a lot more acceptable, with not to many strategic errors after that. People seem to confuse the last one through being unoptimized through not using up to date methods, this one uses the up to date methods but does not move well from A to B.
Sonic 2 GBA should get the chop in my opinion, although if only one was allowed to stay then I would keep Sonic 2
They are a lot of Mario games and I think they'll be too much of a firm stance on each game to be able to boot one, I would personally remove SMW2
Can't comment for obvious reasons
ALttP should be taken down
Can't comment much although I'm against starring any RPG games purley becuase there generally displeasing to non-fans.
Watched becuase I was more interested in the route and gaining a greater understanding of RBA, unfourtuantley telling all the mistakes and possible improvements would probally require me to double, maybe even triple post. One thing I will say is that you can superslide past the owls no need to prepare a ground jump.
After watching it for the 2nd time would the latest Gun Star Heroes movie make a good star nominee. I'm not too familar with the game but the run has the same sort of thrill affect as the Megaman 1 run, and its not too long and the action is varied.
I'm not demanding it to be starred, its just a light suggestion.
I liked how everything seemed illogical and then Bam! something trully amazing happens, the glitch to get past all the Victory road stuff is definitly my favourite, and I also have to say that this is the first full length run I've seen where I haven't got bored and skipped stuff. I vote very yes.
Never use jump attacks or floor enemies, unless its the finishing blow
Never hit enemies with a 3rd fury attack when using Blaze
The most effective new strategy would be to use left, right punches. Quite simply when use you punch an enemy the punch tends to stay extended for a long amount of time, its possible to land several hits if you make the other character face in the oposite direction then back again.
More use of team attacks, I only used it once in my WIP (after that I used the bottle) . Its doesn't quite kill enemies in one hit but you can walk up to the enemy using the other player and while the other player is in the process of doing there team attack the other player can land a solitory weak hit and then the other player using the team attack can make the kill, this might prove very useful on level 5 paticuarly for Mona+Lisa.
If any run gets done then it should be a 2p, I started a run many months ago, but I got clogged up in all the strategic plannings, so I've effectively abandoned doing it. I would need to almost completely start from scratch again anyway, after spotting a series of improvements and strategic errors although I do sacrifice a little time just to be a little more stylistic, here was my WIP
EDIT: Chemist, could you not just upload a video instead please.
I was under the impression the published movie is really a half optimized test run, this WIP sort of confirms that. It seems to programmers took no account as to what could be achived with the speed potion which as you mentioned is probally worth taking a relatively major detour in later levels just for the sake of obtaining it. Yes, definitley has all the optimizations I could think of and more.
I was just about to bring that up, if you watch the following video you'll see Link doing a mega flip with bombchus.
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=S5pkYq98EBM
Now if you watch the following two videos one from MM the other from OoT you'll notice something.
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Bh4HVfpV-LMhttp://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=s5dw_OHMns8
The effect is exactly the same although it takes a more complicated setup to pull off in OoT, while in MM it could be done entirely with a bomb/chu. Now if you were to plant a bomb or setup up a chu the liklyhood is you could perform a mega flip, which can potentially save a lot of time over endless sword techniques and could allow link to reach over long gaps say in parts of the GBT.
