Do my screenshots look great too? Also do you watch zoomed in? If yes, what filter?
I don't think I've had any problems with screenshots. I watch videos full screen, using whatever technique mpv uses.

Do you seed their torrents?
I have my torrent client set up to seed until it sends out a full copy. Although if I didn't like something, I'll generally end up deleting it before it sends out a full copy.

I prefer MKV Modern HQ because it's relatively small file size and looks great. I keep a stash of TASs on my HD and backed up on external devices. Archive.org or YouTube stream seems the least frustrating if you just want to watch something, however, you never know when YouTube is going to decide to block a movie (or the entire channel), or Archive.org is going to run into funding issues.

WIPs should be submitted to userfiles. Then make a post in the appropriate game's thread about it, or discuss it with others via live chat.

I am not Bubbleman. I love the Castlevania level. Overall, it looks like a fairly well made hack.

To my knowledge, this is the first movie we've had which does something like this. Quite novel to see a game can be beaten with different characters using the same input. In Mega Man X6, both our heroes have a light-saber in this one, so it does allow the Mega Men to have a similar move-set. The movie on the one hand shows how the two are same for most of it, but then it also shows how they diverge with their special weapons, yet still remains synced while only ~6 minutes lost due to it. The levels are played for the most part identically, but then the boss fights use the special weapons to their full potential, so just viewing it casually, doesn't look like you intentionally handicapped one of the characters in order to make it easier to maintain sync. Great job!

I noticed right before the Mother Brain room, you kill a Metroid and get +30 missiles. When playing this game, I've never gotten Metroids to drop anything when killing them. Also, I've never seen anything but +2 missile drops. Is the +30 missile drop something unique to the Metroids? Is the drop % on them really low?

without skipping the first three levels using the SHIFT+L cheat code
By the way, this isn't a cheat code per se. It appear in the manual as a command to assist the player is practicing the game. The code allows you to jump to any of those levels to immediately practice them, but also lowers the time limit to make it supposedly impossible to beat the game. To actually cheat in the game and skip levels, you can pass the command line parameter megahit, followed by the level number. In general, there's also keyboard shortcuts to save and load your progress.

My only question was why were you using something different than other movies on this site, as that's what I thought your submission notes was conveying. If it's the same as other movies (which I have just verified), then it's fine.

Why was this created/chosen? How was this created? Also, I'm trying to import this image, however JPC-RR says it doesn't recognize it. Edit: Okay, I see the file just needs to be copied directly to the drive library.

Thanks, good to know! I'm just now wondering if the Freenode staff are actively filtering discussions about moving away from Freenode in some way. We should probably assume networking issues over anything, especially since my connection has been acting up all week, but with what DeHackEd pointed out about Freenode staff going nuts, I'm starting to wonder what else may they be doing?

Yes, we need to tell everyone about it, but without stepping on the Freenode's staff toes.

That's the sort of thing which will cause the Freenode staff to come in and take over the channel, if they find out about it.

I asked users in #tasvideos last week to setup an account on Libera, and come join. Till today, I haven't seen anyone even bother. I assume over the coming days, people will begin to migrate. I purposely did not put in the topic or anything like that because of what I suspected the reaction might be from the Freenode owner.

I spoke to a few people privately who told me they want to stay on Freenode unless things get bad. From my perspective channel takeover is very very bad, however, ordinary users don't see that as a problem till it affects them.
Samsara wrote:
policy updates where people are literally asking "can i be racist now???"... This is all very public information. If we stay on Freenode, it's absolutely going to look like we support this abhorrent behavior.
None of that is in the officially published Freenode policy on their site.
Samsara wrote:
I imagine your hesitance to move is just that and not actual explicitly advocating what Freenode is doing, but I don't quite think it's logical hesitance given the sheer amount of true information out there. For the sake of the site and how we are perceived in the community, we should absolutely move as soon as possible.
I'm not hesitating at all. The moment I saw what was going on, I set up stuff on Libera Chat, and started working on some other things we need for the move. However, until today only 3 people from #tasvideos moved to Libera, despite me mentioning last week people should sign up to Libera. The larger network as a whole also only saw a small % of users currently migrate. However, if we force people to a new server, and they don't come, it's an issue. Part of the issue may be is that Libera is currently having capacity problems (probably due to services being swamped with new users setting stuff up). My hope is in the coming days we see most of the users migrate, and Libera works out whatever troubles they have. Unfortunately they do not yet have the capacity Freenode has (most of the sponsors are still sticking with Freenode?), and some stuff hasn't been setup on Libera yet.

Not all of that is necessarily true. See this from a respected member of the community: https://gist.github.com/prawnsalad/4ca20da6c2295ddb06c1646791c61953

Some former Freenode staff members who quit set up the new network. Many big names have moved, but from several people I spoke too, not everyone wants to move. Libera Chat also does not yet have the same network capacity that Freenode currently has.
Mothrayas wrote:
One of the first changes was an update to freenode's policy page, removing references about disallowing hate speech on the platform. This is a major red flag - and many who weren't considering moving out before, would definitely start considering moving out now, lest they get associated with a network's implicit endorsement of hate speech.
However that's not on the actual site. See: https://freenode.net/policies To quote:
Unlawful activities and related support activities are considered off-topic, as are inappropriate advertising, heavy media file trading, proprietary game software modding, warez, porn and various forms of antisocial behaviour, including (but not limited to) political, racial, ethnic, religious or gender-related invective. In accordance with UK law freenode has no tolerance for any activity that could be construed as: incitement to racial hatred incitement to religious hatred or any other behaviour meant to deliberately put upon a person harassment, alarm or distress. We do NOT endorse or encourage discrimination on the grounds of e.g. race, religion, gender or sexual preference and operate with a zero-tolerance policy for libel and defamation. While we believe in the concept of freedom of thought and freedom of expression, freenode does not operate on the basis of absolute freedom of speech, and we impose limitations, e.g. on "hate speech".
A downside of Libera Chat is also that it is now bound by Swedish Law, which we have to ask whether that's a problem or not. I am currently in the process of getting Libera Chat ready, however if the users won't move to Libera Chat, and continue to prefer Freenode, then that is moot.

Here's the relevant source from SDLPoP: Download seg007.c
Language: c

// seg007:15D3 void __pascal far fell_on_your_head() { short frame; short action; frame = Char.frame; action = Char.action; // loose floors hurt you in frames 5..14 (running) only on level 13 if ( (current_level == 13 || (frame < frame_5_start_run || frame >= 15)) && (action < actions_2_hang_climb || action == actions_7_turn) ) { Char.y = y_land[Char.curr_row + 1]; if (take_hp(1)) { seqtbl_offset_char(seq_22_crushed); // dead (because of loose floor) if (frame == frame_177_spiked) { // spiked Char.x = char_dx_forward(-12); } } else { if (frame != frame_109_crouch) { // crouching if (get_tile_behind_char() == 0) { Char.x = char_dx_forward(-2); } seqtbl_offset_char(seq_52_loose_floor_fell_on_kid); // loose floor fell on Kid } } } }
My understanding of the code in this version is that a falling ceiling is always supposed to take 1 damage if you're crouching, the only difference is the animation that plays.
