LOL at Halamantariel's post. It did make me laugh out loud. Thanks Dromiceius, for your comments. I knew I wasn't a GREAT speaker, (I'm taking no offense to what you said, but I'd like to readily acknowledge it) but I just wanted to be good enough to get the job done, and as long as I get at least that, then I'm happy. Just for the record, there are several spots in my own commentary where I didn't say quite what I was thinking and it kind of came out wrong, just really little things. So, there were times where it sounded like I didn't know what I was talking about but I had so much going on in my head I couldn't put it into the best words. Heh, about the Stoic club, I totally get it now and thinks it's funny, I meant that when I was younger (like 10-11 years old) I was kind of like, "huh?" Good observation about the dad/phone being a satire on the Western's lack of good-dad parenting... or something like that. It's probably accurate. Um, did anybody like my 'treat' at the falls? I figured that may have been something new for most of you but no one has said anything about it. I mean, you don't need to spoil it or anything, but I thought it was a good idea for the mostly silent break. Ugh, 11 hour day at work today. I'm taking a shower and relaxing!

Hey, I just wanted to say that I am really glad you guys liked it. I mean, you all are the ones that I care the most about whether or not you think it's worth listening to. Bisqwit, I know what you mean about what you think of your own commentary. I am still afraid that people would find mine boring, but hey, if people like it then that's great. I'm sure I wouldn't mind and would enjoy seeing your commentary for Rockman 1 no matter how boring you thought the info came off. :P I would like to hear from anyone who took the time to listen to this, don't be shy! (I liked Nitrodon's comment about the Book of Shyness!)

Heh, I just listened to some of it and while I know I could still do better, I had a really tiring week and didn't come off as energetic as I would've liked but that's ok. Also, I'm probably my own harshest critic, I have a hard time listening to my own voice. I worked about 50 hours last week and didn't get a full night's sleep before recording so... that may explain it! But, I'll just wait to see what everyone else thinks. I haven't ever really used a mic much so I was afraid to talk too loud or say things that would sound bad in the mic but talking quiet isn't any better. OK, I'm going back to bed and I'll check back later to see if anyone listened! Whew, I'm tired. -_-

Sorry Vidar, it was uploading fine and then my comp had some problems and I had to leave again for the night. I am uploading it to a different site now as the other one I was using just all of a sudden isn't working for me. I'm using sendspace. I'll edit THIS post when it's done. EDIT: It's done uploading! (btw, I like sendspace a lot. I thought you had to register to upload, but you don't so that's why I skipped by it earlier when I was looking for a place to host .mp3 files) http://www.sendspace.com/file/nvmzmh Link should work fine for everyone and download relatively fast. I just hope that whoever takes the time to listen to it enjoys it. I'd also like to hear from anyone who has anything to say about it. Enjoy!

Ok, it is uploading now, it will be done in like 20 minutes or so. I will edit this post when it is complete. I went with the 24 kbps mono version, I think it sounds the best and the filesize isn't that big (35.7 MB). I really really hope everyone enjoys it, I think you'll find that it is much better than the practice commentary I did. It starts off maybe a tad slow as I was getting my bearings and I was a bit tired by the end but I kept it pretty good I think. Please feel free to let me know whether you liked it or not or if you have any improvements if I ever did this again (not planning on it unless the opportunity comes up, as in, I'm not really going to be actively seeking anything) My approach was to just be me and not try to be too over-the-top or force in comedy. It's not particularly spectacular but I think you'll find that I really do love Earthbound and I did enjoy doing the commentary a lot, it was a nice way to spend the afternoon.

Ok, that was quite a recording! I'm really happy with the way it turned out, I didn't have any unwanted silence or really bad stumbles or anything and thing it worked out nicely. I am converting this right now, and I have to leave town for a while so I won't be able to put this up until either really late tonight or tomorrow morning, but it will definitely be up. It will be either 32 or 24 Kbps mono so hopefully it will download pretty fast (thanks for the advice JXQ, and I think it helped my voice sound a little bit better, I don't like how it sounds at 128 at all) I am really excited to hear from anyone who listens to it! Post here or if you want to mail me at NapstrPSX@gmail.com you are more than welcome! Expect to see me around TASvideos a lot more, I don't know why I didn't get involved sooner. Who knows, maybe I'll contribute a TAS someday. :P

Hey, just wanted to let everyone know that I am beginning recording now! I am very excited and have read up a lot on some info of the TAS and am ready to present it all. I have a special treat that I would like to do for the 3-minute wait at the falls, but I don't know if I can make it work or not, I'm trying to prepare for that right now before I begin to see if I can make it work. If it doesn't and I figure out a way to do it later, I may end up cutting/splicing some of the track and putting it in because I think it's a good idea, but it's a suprise! Alright, here we go. EDIT: I tried my 'treat' out and it worked alright so I'm gonna go with it. I think everyone will really enjoy it and it is perfect for that 3-minute break. What will it be? :O

Here's a promotional pic for the commentary :P http://s141.photobucket.com/albums/r69/NapstrPSX/?action=view&current=IloveEarthbound.jpg A little creepy, I know. (wish I knew the html to make the link into a word like all the cool people do, I'm such a loser. I'm so excited about recording! Oh, the joy!

Hey just wanted to let those who are interested know that I just got done mailing back halamantriel, so when it comes time to record the commentary I should have some personal bits from him added in on several things in the run and be able to point out everything that's note-worthy. I'm not sure if it will be an uninterrupted single segment or not (I doubt it) but if I do take a break or two it'll all be seamed together and shouldn't de-synch the commentary with the video. I don't think I'll have near as much non-game commentary pushed in like that when I do it, I won't be in any rush and I'll try to not detract too much from the entertainment of the TAS, yet talk enough so there's not too much silence. I am shooting for doing the recording sometime early Saturday, so maybe if all goes well I can have it up by the end of the day. I'll take your advice, JXQ, about shrinking the filesize down some by lessening the quality and I'm going to experiment with some stuff to see if I can make any subtle improvements. I am really looking forward to this! Seriously, I'm really excited about this and I want to say thanks for the support. I think it will turn out good and I hope everyone enjoys it. Like I said, I don't know if I'll be interested in doing anymore as I know there may be others that are thinking about doing this kind of thing and I don't want to take any possible openings away and I don't want to do a commentary for something that somebody else wants to do. I'll definitely come posting back when I'm finished or if I have any important updates or unexpected delays or anything like that. By the way, does anyone know of a better place that I could host the file, or is the site that I used Ok? I just tried to find something that worked, I've never tried to host anything that big before but it worked out pretty good considering it's free - and it says that it stays up for up 6 months after last download. Goodnight, everybody!

I'm back, and thanks for the responses! Well, like I said I already know of a lot of things I could improve on. Sometimes I said, 'uh' or 'and stuff' a bit too much. So, I will definitely be doing a full-length for this soon, definitely within the week. I shouldn't have any trouble feeling confident next time I do this, I'm just gonna go for it and just use my personal humor. Vidar, sorry, but I've actually never played CS so I guess it wasn't me. =( If anyone has anything else to say I'd like to hear and I'll be thinking up until when I do this about making it as best I can. If I finish this I would maybe like to do one more commentary, but I don't know, I'd probably just be satisfied with doing Earthbound. :D

Ok, I know I've like NEVER posted on this site, but I would really like to contribute an audio commentary to the site if possible, even if it's just one. I watched the Ocarina of Time run accompanied by JXQ's commentary and I think it made it so much more enjoyable to watch. So, I tried messaging Bisqwit about it more than 24 hours ago but I haven't gotten a response yet, so I decided to try and do like the first 20 minutes or so to see if anyone thought it was worth finishing. I was gonna just go ahead and do the full-length, but I didn't want to go through too much disappointment! I mean, I don't expect it to be as exciting as a commentary for a more exciting action game, so I think that it will be a little more lax since Earthbound is mostly a fairly laid-back game while watching it. If anyone is interested, here's a link to download it - http://files-upload.com/161583/Earthboundteaser.mp3.html You have to wait until the counter stops at the bottom, and then it turns into a downloadable link for the .mp3. I made it using Audacity and even though it doesn't sound as good as I had hoped it would I still think it's OK. I was afraid that maybe after posting this everyone would want to try and do the same thing so I hope I'm not bringing an unwanted trend, but I think that commentaries are really only worth doing for the longer TAS videos and make them not feel quite so, um... lonely for the viewer at times. So, either reply here or feel free to PM me or mail me at NapstrPSX@gmail.com to tell me what you think. Like I said, I am more than willing to do a full-length commentary and would love to have it on the site, but if that's not possible and people still want me to finish it I can try to find a place to host it elsewhere, and permanently, I just didn't have time to arrange that before going to bed tonight. (I have to go to work every morning at 7 a.m.) Thank you for your time! Sorry I am not here more frequently but I love TAS videos and have great respect for everyone on the site. I would like to show my face around and get to know everyone better. And seriously, I think I sound SO much different than this .mp3. OK, I just finished listening to it and I can be MUCH more animated and entertaining. I am pretty tired and I just didn't feel that comfortable because I don't know many people. If you think it would be worth listening to with a better mic and better voice then I will could maybe send another segment or if I find a good enough setup I may just go ahead and do a full commentary and post it or something. Much appreciation to anyone who took the time to listen and I already know of plenty I could improve on. PEACE!

Yeah, that was my first post here. I've been checking out this site since about mid-summer and it has grown a lot, I've just been too lazy to join. I'll probably never make a movie, but I have a pretty good knowledge of most of the NES games on this site, and a good amount of SNES knowledge, so I may try to help when possible, but the people on this site have a great idea for what they're doing. However, it's pretty amazing that times can continue to improve for games that were thought to be near-optimal.

I'm sure you guys have probably thought about this already, but would it cut off any time at all to change the computer to "hurry up" instead of "relax"? It would only take a second or two to go in and change it, and even if the computer only has a couple of turns where they are waiting for money to be paid out or given, it seems like it would speed it up to compensate for going into the menu and making the change. Any thoughts on this?
