I was bored, so I took a look at this one for the heck of it. It *might* have made an entertaining run if you could: get the case, immediately get the warrent, and then fly right the crook's hideout and arrest him. Sadly, this is not the case. While the crook is selected when you're given the case, the final destination is not. The next stop appears to be selected only once you arrive in a city. That means the TAS would be composed almost entirely of watching the flying screen over and over again (and of course waiting while you slept). I was getting bored just testing it, so I doubt anyone would really want to watch it.

Even back in 1997 there were other people using Nemo, which is why I've always gone by Nemo2342. Luckily I've never been popular enough for anyone to imitate me.

I'm not too solid on 8-10, but if there's a reasonably quick way to get to/through the great palace, this could cut out the need for jump, the handy glove and downstab.
Just when you thought this game couldn't get any more broken... ;)

Not really. I'm pretty sure I've taken it down with a single Fury before.
I think the Furys are about the only ship that performs well against the Sa-Matra. They're usually the only thing I can use to take down the barrier (and it still costs me more than 1, because I suck at using them). I was quite awed to see Bisquit take it down so effortlessly, but I guess that's what a TAS is all about.

The route planning was excellent, and the battles were perfect. However, it did get boring watching you fly through hyperspace all the time. I'm going to vote yes, because it wouldn't be right for me to vote meh on this when I've voted yes on RPG TASes that are so similar in structure (ie short periods of really cool stuff followed by stuff you want to fast forward).

That was pretty funny. It's a shame it wouldn't let you beat the level after your death.

Yes vote from me. The entire run was great, though I loved the way you took out the Atomic Base II with so few shots.

I don't know about being the most pointless, but Wall Street Kid could be one of the top 10.

That was a very nice improvement over the previous run. I was particularly impressed with the new strategy against the Dark King. Voteing Yes, obviously.

There were a lot of games like Ys back then, but none of them aged nearly as well. Which makes me wonder if there was ever any progress made on a PC Engine rerecording emulator. Ys needs a TAS badly. =(
Why not TAS the NES versions? Yeah, they're in Japanese, but we're not going to be reading the text anyway.

They could both go in the same movie with a reset in the middle. But Tornado is like an Easy mode and it means playing through the game twice so I'm guessing that would be more boring than a Falcon-only run to the credits.
Tornado can be accessed with the BABY code, with no need to play through the game completely. On a regular play through I seem to finish off enemies much faster thanks to the hypershot, though that probably wouldn't make a very interesting TAS (charge charge charge FIRE the end).

There were times when bad music, crazy-simple combat, and ridiculous level grinding were the acceptable standard in JRPGs. =) Voted yes!
If you leave out the 'bad music' part, it sounds loke a Ys game.

I'd like to see a TAS of Flying Warriors done. If you could manipulate the targets that appear on your opponents body somehow, you could get some really fast beatdowns in the fighting portions.

I forgot to mention my all-time favorite "evil" character: HK-47. That is all, meatbags.

I'm not opposed to the idea of having a run for every game either.
There are quite a few games I'd like to see beaten, simply for nostalgia's sake. Most of them probably wouldn't make an entertaining TAS though, and thus would not be acceptable for this site. I think it would be great if one day we did have a TAS for every game, simply so you can see the game that frustrated you as a kid beaten (or pwned, as the kids say).

If I could, I would vote yes. You've made a game that frustrated me as a kid seem almost playable, which is quite a feat.

The Dark Savant (Wizardy 7-8), Werdna (Wizardry 1 and 4), Firebrand (Gargoyles Quest, etc), Cecil (FF4), Setzer (FF6).... this might take awhile, come to think of it.

Beer? No thanks. Mixed drinks? Yes please! I'd rather drink straight liquor than beer, honestly. At least you wouldn't have to taste it as much :D

I also think this would make an entertaining TAS. Most bosses have distinct weakpoints, as I recall, though it might be more fun to watch you dismantle a robot piece by piece with well placed shots. Should there be 2 TASes, one for each ST (Falcon and Tornado) or just a single absolute fastest time to the end credits run?

Unless you find some really interesting sequence breaks/bugs to exploit, I don't think this will be a very entertaining TAS. Part of the fun of the NES TAS is watching someone zip through the game so fast that you can't even keep up with the text, and I just don't see a way to duplicate it in the N64 game.

Now we just need someone to do a run for the Gameboy version :D
The games are fairly identical, except that the gameboy version seems to have annoying things like not being able to buy the alarm flute (you have to find it in a cave) and Zebu popping up everywhere to explain the item you just found (like ball of wind and rabbit boots). I think the gameboy version is best left undone.
The main differences that I recall are that 1)Monsters take damage from any sword (instead of each monster being weak to certain swords) and 2)You don't have to level as much to hurt the bosses (not entirely sure on this last one). It also switches up some of the later boss fights, if my memory serves me.

I liked this run, though I'll admit that that first round had me worried that we were going to see bicycle kick lameness over and over again for the whole movie. If I could vote, I'd vote yes.

Holy crap, that was incredible. Can someone explain to me what, exactly, those speed power-ups are doing? I know they're supposed to double your ship's speed, but towards the end he's passing through enemies altogether. So what are those speedups doing that makes this possible?
