Sounds like you're trying to travel by tesseract, regardless you can do it both ways and either one way will be faster than the other or it would be the same, either way you would go with the faster one. If the question is you are right or you are wrong, it's impossible to prove an absolute negative and until someone proves you right any argument begs the question. If taking a longer path or making a turn will allow you to maintain your pace then do that, if the choice has to be made to take a longer path or make a turn then I suggest you make it because not chosing will definitely be a longer run.
