Relax. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. No matter how much you may disagree with them. (Incidentally, this run doesn't have any no votes so far, so nobody really considered the run bad. Who are you even talking about?)

Of course, I might feel well if it is published, but this game is just a windows game, which couldn't be adjusted to the assistance tool.
We do have Windows TASes on the site: http://tasvideos.org/Movies-Windows.html The "assistance tool" here being Hourglass. I don't know if IWBTF works on it or not.

It's definitely bug-compatible with the important ones for a speedrun. In particular, the most outlandish bug listed is the ability for a chain-explosion to produce extra trons, and it certainly replicates that faithfully to allow me to save a bunch of time in levels 90, 94, and 98 (probably some more like 82 as well, but I haven't taken a detailed look at that level yet). Go figure that if it handles that case correctly, emulating the other bugs is a relative cakewalk.
What about the red disk duplication bug?

I don't know if it would work in this game, but in SM64DS you can open the moat door early by causing Yoshi to clip through a wall in such a way so that Yoshi goes from being above the water to below the water without ever passing through the water's surface, so the game never renders Yoshi as "swimming". While a similar wall clip glitch is probably not possible in SM64, could there be some other way to bypass the water's surface, such as by entering it at an extremely high speed? What happens if Mario in frame 1 is entirely above the water, and in frame 2 is entirely below the water?
In SM64 (not DS), at any time if Mario's height is under the water surface, he'll immediately get into a swimming state. So there's no way to clip through the water surface and walk on the floor as in SM64DS. However, it has been proven possible that if Mario is only underwater and at the right position for 1 frame, he is still considered on the ground for 1 frame and can enter the door during that frame. (This was done with a cheat device; there's a video of it somewhere on YouTube). Also, when BLJing at extremely high speed from the slope/exit point of the moat, it's possible to get on the floor of the moat for 1frame. Thus, the only theoretical possible way to get the moat door to open is to BLJ, and move from the slope (exit point) to the door position in 1 frame and have Mario enter the door. (Unless, of course, somebody finds out an entirely new way, but that seems unlikely). However, so far nobody has been able to do that, and it may very well be impossible in practice.

I noticed it as well when I watched it, although I hadn't addressed it. It's true that this technically disqualifies the category, but the run already has enough issues as is, and the effect is practically nonexistent.

Its entertainment rating value is less than impressive. For old runs, when the Vault tier was established, runs with an entertainment rating of 5.7 or lower were automatically put in the Vault. That's why this run is in the Vault.

The only difference is the graphics of the title screen. If I'm correct, all Mega Man 1 runs sync on both the USA and JPN versions. Besides that, the MM1 runs on the site have always used the JPN version. It's practically tradition.

I'm not really sold on the concept of a glitchless damageless buster-only run. It takes the three most interesting elements of speedrunning/TASing this game away, making the end result look quite bland. I'm not really sure about the optimization level, either. TASing this game to optimal precision should require way more than 2500 rerecords. The lack of optimization is apparent during some boss battles, especially later on. In particular, the first fight with Bomb Man, the Cut Man refight, the Copy Mega Man fight, and the refights with Ice Man, Bomb Man and Guts Man have clear issues where the boss stops blinking sometimes, meaning you don't hit them as fast as you could. Some like Bomb Man and Cut Man suffer from bad luck manipulation, but the others have no such excuse. There are also other little things I'm doubtful about, such as switching weapons at less-than-optimal times. I'm voting no. It lacks the entertainment, variety and glitches that Mega Man runs usually provide, and its optimization level is questionable.

It seems the issue appears when loading a savestate through the interface menu (File -> Loadstate doesn't seem to go from read to write properly). Use a savestate through the hotkeys instead (Shift+F1 to F9 to savestate, F1 to F9 to loadstate). That should work.

Are you sure? If you're playing a movie, read-write mode is on and you then load a savestate, it should continue recording from that savestate on. If it claims that movie playback stopped, then you either didn't set it to read-write mode correctly or you didn't load a savestate correctly.

When in read-write mode, load a savestate, and the movie will continue to record from there. You can also save a state at any point during the movie playback, and then load that state (in read-write mode) to continue recording.

Fair enough. Like I said, it could be any reason the author wants.

Idk if the exceptions are granted because the author wants it, or if the site wants it. That hasn't been made clear as to why there are exceptions for a rule for which there were to be no exceptions.
It's because the author wants it. If it were up to the site, all movies would get the TVC treatment. If the author objects to having their run to TVC, we link to their YouTube video instead.

To my knowledge, I haven't ever seen such a request "denied" but even if so, until the run is published you can always cancel your submission. However, I am quite sure that the site would much rather oblige to putting your YouTube link there than potentially losing a very good submission.

Well the partial problem extends from your #3, as we've had no response from someone high up on the site declare a yes or no. I don't want to submit my run and have my request denied, and then lose the rights to my dtm.
Okay, I understand if you want to have definite written proof from a site admin or so before submission. In that case, I'll see if we can get one of the admins to respond about this situation.
