Unless you're going to edit the header/information, you only really need to know the button IDs listed under Controller Data. With that, you can just hex-edit the VBM the traditional way, using a hex editor.

Yes. Here's the VBM file format description. You'll probably need that in order to understand the VBM file you're going to edit.

Look, Jwinslow/PJ, If you were banned, you don't make another account. That gets you banned for good. It's happened before (portalofrain, codered, anyone?). So, you best delete your PJ account and log back in to the JWinslow account. I'm pretty sure you're unbanned by now.
How is that "other account" thing determined? At our school, we all have different e-mails and e-mail passwords, and since the only way I'd know JWinslow23's TASVideos password is if I knew his e-mail password (which I can't get access to). So how do you think that PJBostic and JWinslow23 are two accounts run by the same person? Look it up, Frank Lloyd Wright has two different students named Phillip Jaycob Bostic and Josiah Ryan Winslow, you can figure out whose account is whose! Jeez, just because we're real-world friends and it is made public here, people think of banning me.
The "other account" was determined/assumed due to the fact that your and JWinslow23's posts shared an IP address (I suppose it's likely your school's IP address). Though YoungJ's point is moot anyway, because the account PJBostic existed weeks before JWinslow23's ban. I can't confirm the thing with your names, but understand there were multiple reasons to suspect that JWinslow used an alt account (most suspiciously, reappearing after two weeks right at the time when JWinslow23 was banned). Either way, there should be no further problems with you or your account. (Your school's IP may still be banned, but I can't tell for sure). Just don't make the same mistakes that JWinslow did (which, other than spoiler tag abuse, also consisted of general immaturity, making tons of stupid or useless threads, and just annoying posting in general). Hope that clears up everything.

I discovered PJBostic shared IP with JWinslow23 for most of his posts, as well as other similarities in behavior and post timing, and brought it up with other site staff. I presume some other senior/admin then banned him, or it's just their shared IP that was banned. I'm not sure about that.

I knew you'd come up with that list. Three of those runs (Dr. Mario, Quarth, Zanac) skip to the end in order to finish them faster, one of them (Wildwater Kayak) only has a single functional level, and the other one is F-Zero, which is the most famous case of what wouldn't be published by today's standards. Of those five titles, the only one that doesn't finish the game is F-Zero, which as said before, wouldn't be published today. This submission, like F-Zero, also only clears the first stage of its game(s). So I still don't see reason to unreject/accept this run, other than to repeat F-Zero's mistake. Only runs that finish their respective games get accepted. This submission does not in any way.

Why? It doesn't complete anything further than one stage in each of the game. I don't see any reason to unreject/accept a run that doesn't clear any of the games it goes through, especially considering each game has clearly defined win conditions.

If you mean the combo itself, then I'm not really sure about how 'impossible' it is, but it is at least very hard. I think I saw multiple one-frame-links that would be quite hard to do consistently, as well as a quite tricky meaty st.F+HP to U1 at the end, which is a one-frame link as well and requires perfect timing for the F+HP. It's maybe not impossible, but at the very least, very hard/ridiculously hard.

that Dudley's moves is humanly impossible to do? you underestimates the human's hability
Take a close look at the input sequence on the left side of the screen. All attack inputs are done perfectly and nearly instantaneously, there's not a single redundant input button or stick position, and the half-circle inputs don't include diagonals which would either mean that the stick is spun so fast that it skips the diagonal input (which would mean a speed fast enough to spin around the stick 15 times per second, at the very least), or an input sequence of left-neutral-down-neutral-right, which is very nearly impossible to do perfectly, let alone in a ~3-frame span. The input is clearly tool-assisted, and humanly impossible.

Sounds alright. Filenames aren't everything, though. The only thing that matters is that it syncs when played back on a good dump.

Depends. If the hard mode is available from the start, go with that. If it needs to be unlocked, use normal mode instead.

I don't think sub-18 is possible. I think the limit is a little above 19 seconds. That is, unless we find a super awesome glitch that just makes this 4 times shorter :)
Oh, please. It's an A2600 game. Of course you'll find one!
Actually, it being an A2600 game reduces the chances of finding something interesting. The game is so simple and small-scale, that I don't see much of a chance for there being anything game-breaking in this one. And yeah, I doubt even the possibility of sub-19. There's not a lot to be saved anymore, unless something really unlikely happens.

From the endless load of end-of-the-world/doomsday conspiracy theories, particularly involving today (21-12-2012, Mayan Calendar, blah blah, etc), this has to be my favorite theory. Gangnam Style is the cause of the end of the world, and it was predicted in 1503! (FYI, Gangnam Style on YT has 998.000.000 views as of this writing, and is expected to reach one billion in a couple hours from now) EDIT: And yes, it did reach the billion views today.

I was so sleepy at that moment. x.x
Ah, that's a nice trick. I've known invincibility could pass through the holo-totems, but I couldn't think of any way to get invincibility there. Nice to see there is a way, after all.

It depends on what tools both characters are allowed to use. Are they restricted to armor/tools from one game, or everything they ever obtained combined? If the latter, it would be a stalemate. Mega Man X with X8's Ultimate Armor and charged Chameleon Sting from X1 would be functionally invincible for infinite time (and have an instant kill attack at his disposal). Samus would counter with any incarnation of the Screw Attack that would also be completely invincible to attack - so neither one would win. If only sets from a single game are allowed, however, it'd probably make a more complicated situation.
