Just finished watching the whole deal. Excellent run, of course, and also nice how quickly you progressed with the making of it.

Why do we have Vault, again.
For speedrun records. However, it's debatable whether a WarioWare run even has merit as a speedrun record, considering the vast majority of gameplay is entirely on a fixed timer. Note that the Wiki: Vault technical guidelines state that a Vault run must be distinguishable from a real-time speedrun, timewise. While I don't know of a real-time speedrun for this game, it does not appear like it would meet that criteria. This is why I don't consider it Vault-legible.

The first ~twenty minutes (of WIP material) are encoded here. That said, it would still be nice if someone encoded the full run.

Yeah, I'm currently also leaning towards rejecting it. WarioWare simply has too little to gain in time over any non-assisted run, barring menu navigation and, from the looks of it, some of the boss stages. The question, however, is whether those boss stages would make enough of a difference to make it acceptable as a speedrun. I'm still leaning towards no on this.

Split and locked. You guys probably managed to set a new record. Derailing a thread entirely, starting from its second post. I know you guys don't like JWinslow23 that much, but there's no excuse for this crap.

Wow, that's a nice find you have there. Collecting 100% of items by collecting just 58% of them? You must have found an OOT-esque memory corruption glitch which could lead to epic amounts of time saving. Please do share. Yes, I'm aware this is (most probably) a joke.

I also agree with nitrogenesis and Guga. This screenshot is just bad. This situation reminds me of Pokémon Ruby and its "I'm going to give you a little tas" screenshot. That one was also recommended against, as it doesn't give the idea of something TASlike happening. Screenshots should impress the potential viewers; show off unexpected things.

Link to video Glitch happens at around 0:45. Also, does Cheetahmen 2 even have a soft reset function? To my knowledge, it's only possible to hard reset. And I haven't been able to reproduce the glitch in emulator yet (using hard resets), which is probably impossible because of emulator determinism.

Changes always come with criticism. The site has been through a fair amount of change recently, which naturally leads to a significant amount of criticism in return. Still, I find it annoyingly hypocritical that those people who were always clamoring against game choice, are now complaining about degrading the site's values. I suppose some people just will never ever be pleased, regardless of what anyone does.

I've read before about CEO's basically telling their employees "vote Romney or get fired". After Obama's re-election, I suppose this is only a natural consequence. (Not that it makes any sense in the slightest.)

The only reason there was a row (which, for the record, was here) was because the 'original' author actively refused to have 'his' run/fastest time on the site. It didn't stop the recreated run from being published though. As stated in that thread, strategies and frame counts aren't copyrightable. A case could be made for movie files/inputs, but if those aren't given by the original author, then that's a non-issue either way.

There are rules and precedents about submitting other people's work without their permission. If ToT and Snark won't submit it and haven't given permission to anyone else to submit it, then it likely won't appear on the site.

Hey guys, I've been a long time lurker but this topic sparked something in me that made me sign up. Just wanna say I love the site! To the people that are against this category, I ask you, why? It's just a silly little thing for the site. It's pretty clear that if you dislike this you're just as stupid as the reasons you claim that this category is invalid. I bet you don't even like AVGN! So what right do you have to say anything about it? To the great, honorable members of TASVideos that uphold this decision, I applaud you! ---------------- I want the AVGN category to become huge! I want people to mainly focus on AVGN and later PewDiePie TASes, leaving the other games behind. This needs to be a main point of the site, how you guys have made videos of games that not only exist, but have actually been acknowleged by PEOPLE that exist! I know that it will increase traffic to the site like crazy. You need that! If the PewDiePie category is made I will definitely tell the Bro army, and then PewDiePie will probably make a hugely popular video about it!!! Imagine the fame you'll get from all of us 15 year olds :)

i ask how adding a fucking avgn category will at all help the image of the site that you have fought so hard to keep clean. this serves no purpose to the site, the site's purpose is to show off tool assisted superplay/speedruns, not to show off what games a popular internet personality has played or reviewed. you're simply slapping a face of an internet celebrity onto videos, with no fucking reason other than he's reviewed the game. feel free to tell me that it existed before, which just goes to show you're all fucking avoiding the point here, that it serves no purpose. no one apparently knew of it's existence before, but now it's being put on the game pages. ringrush brought up a great point in the previous topic: what does this say about the great games that have been reviewed by AVGN? battletoads, castlevania 2&3, super mario bros. 3, they are all now grouped into a category that is basically supposed to signify "bad games" or "jokes". i feel that is completely disrespectful to the TASer and will hurt the image of the TAS itself. this is just making a joke out of TASes that were most likely taken very seriously. some in the previous thread claimed it to be "owning the games that owned james" or something. but what does that really mean? avgn never claimed to be a god gamer, it's nothing special that a fucking tas would be able to do better at the game than he did. this to me is nothing more than digging for a reason to support the category. i also saw many in the other thread claiming that the category should not affect anyone and that if they're getting put off by it that the site basically doesn't need their attention. this is not at all a good way to go about running the site. there are already a lot of well known speedrunners and TASers that have expressed their disdain towards the AVGN category, stating or agreeing with statements expressing that the site has lost a lot of credibility for taking such a ridiculous concept so seriously. this is something i think a lot would have expected as an april fool's joke. i don't see how you can consider keeping something on the site that seasoned members would expect as an april fool's joke. i myself have lost any faith i had in tasvideos ever becoming a decent, credible site after this. i was already quite put off by the judging process, and the fact that TASes had been rejected for things such as game choice. i thought you guys were moving forward with the tiers, but it seems like you really went nowhere.
I'm most curious about the sudden change of heart. And capitalization ability.
