Technically that's five hits, the electric orb hits Fistleo one frame before the first slash does, and then a triple slash follows.

WIP 3: up to entrance of Area F There, Area E and G are done. I found a way to destroy enemies without time loss as HX using the electric orb attack; this saves quite a bit of time since we don't need to necessarily avoid all enemies or slash them anymore. YouTube

It's a simple TAS of a simple game, but nice enough for a yes vote for me.

And by the way: I think this game deserves a 100% run.
I'm not sure if it's worth it. All 100% adds to the game is seeing all secondary areas (except amazon secondary area) and all reploids rescued. On the other hand, 6 out of 8 stages will be partially revisited and you'll see Dynamo SDC'd six times. Plus, there's no interesting route change or anything either: aside from going after some reploids near the ends of the main stages, it'll be virtually identical to the all-stages run, just with 6 stage revisits tacked on in the middle.

I don't think this is a good idea. Runs in the gruefood are usually not published because they're not good enough for the site. Having an award for them on the site kind of contradicts the purpose of not accepting runs.

WIP 2: up to entrance to Area E Rolanmen1 did Area D last night, so I finished it up to the entrance of Area E to post a WIP here. The WIP is pretty short this time, spanning only Area D as a true stage/mission. YouTube

Not necessarily. I'd name some specific examples here but I'm too lazy.
I don't get it. So you either say that this route isn't faster (which is pretty much true), or that speed > entertainment is false (well, this is a speedrun, so it's pretty much true as well that speed > entertainment) or that the Yammark fight here is less entertaining than SDC, even though you post below that you're sick of seeing Zero SDC all the time. And neither make sense with the "specific examples" thing you post after that. So what are you trying to say?

How mush shorter would the movie be if it started from dirty SRAM (ie skippable cutscenes)?
If I remove all of these animated video cutscenes, about 13372 frames would be saved, or about 03:43.51 minutes. That's not an enormous deal.
are you serious? I remember Moth telling me the cutscenes are about 30 minutes long, and I think Epsil has sub 1 hour non-TAS with dirty SRAM
Maybe I've miscaculated, since I went pretty quick trough the video. But maybe Moth is also counting those textual cutscenes. I don't know. I think that should be redone.
Yeah, with SRAM it's possible to skip everything that isn't gameplay or door transitions. The textual cutscenes make up a significant part of the run, which could with SRAM all be skipped.

I don't understand how that speed works… is X supposed to be 896 dashing to the right and -896 dashing to the left?[/url]
Yes. 896 subpixels/frame = 896/256=3.5 pixels/frame, left is negative speed (subpixels subtracted from x) and right is positive speed (subpixels added to x).
ALAKTORN wrote:
Y seems to be jumping all over the place
Do you mean Y or Y speed? Be sure to watch Y as a 2-byte value, otherwise if it's near 256/512/768 etc. it'll fly around between the highest and lowest values. As far as Y speed goes, if I move upwards it's negative, if I release the button and fall down it's positive.

Where do you think it's improvable? X speed should pretty much be a constant +3.5px/frame there with no slowdowns at all, barring a few places. Anyway, here's the list of RAM addresses I (currently) use:
0214FBA4 - player invincibility
0214FB65 - x
0214FB69 - y
0214FB6C - x speed
0214FB70 - y speed
0214FC38 - charge 1
0214FC39 - charge 2
021510AA - boss hp
0215109C - boss invincibility
0214FC30 - dash length

Just let's forget about that idea, for the 100%, i think that the route involves on going the secondary area of inami temple to get zero and hyper dash, and therefore, beat every investigator without going to any secondary areas, avoiding a fight with High Max.
For a 100% (all reploids saved) the secondary areas do need to be visited a few times, though, but in this manner: 1: get Zero in Inami 2: beat all 8 investigators to skip high max 3: get all reploids in all secondary areas except amazon area 4: do gate stages The problem is, X is still mostly useless like in the all stages run. Zero would probably be superior time-wise in the secondary areas because he can just SDC Dynamo and X can't. The run would just consist of Zero collecting Hyper Dash, Jumper and maybe Saber Plus if there's room for that, and then collecting everything X would use but never does use because he's never played.

Wouldn't mind watching a PSX version run with this bug included. I think it'd be pretty funny. ("okay, intro stage finished... waitwhat, final stages already?") I don't think being restricted to X-buster is that much of a problem.

Actually, I did make plans of that at one point, but never decided to do anything with it because it isn't interesting seeing the same stages gone through multiple times.
