Since third-party hosting is still not in the free Photobucket subscription plan, there's no guarantee that images won't still be blocked from hotlinking eventually (unless you pay for it). You can use it, but if it's going to result in issues again I may remove offending avatars without warning.
Can't we use the same solution as for TinyPic instead? Namely: "All 72 TinyPic avatar users have now had their avatars restored with a copy hosted on the site."
No, with the main reason being there's no easy/consistent way I know of to download PhotoBucket images after they've been disabled from hotlinking. And even with a consistent method, it still takes a fair amount of manual work. I'm not interested in doing this work every time an user tries to hotlink with an image host that is well known for causing issues with hotlinking.

Possibly in the (not yet foreseeable) future. The current forum configuration does not allow it.

This also happened to be posted just before I had made a couple of PCE and related system TASes - afterwards it seemed to have picked up a bit. In the years before, only like a few per year were made on average.

Also not a judge, but I can provide a more objective answer by citing the relevant movie rule:
Prototype game versions are only accepted if there is no stable release version available.

Yeah, the requirement to vote is to have a certain amount of posts. I don't recall the exact number of posts required, but it's something between 3 and 5 or so.

It was removed when the poll question was changed when the tier system was introduced. I don't think there was a specific reason for it, it just was not added to the new poll question.

That movie is not zipless. Only certain types of zips are removed, others are left in. Also, the RCW port has obvious other differences/advantages, like instant weapon switch.

If you take out BIOS/startup loading time, yes it is. RCW loses well over 30 seconds before reaching the game's title screen.

Can this movie possibly obsolete [3029] PSX Rockman Complete Works: Rockman 2 by paosidufygth in 27:22.91
I would say no, for a few reasons: - it's clearly a different game. Rockman Complete Works has different controls (such as instant weapon switching), different sound (especially if Navi mode were used, which I would recommend for any RCW movie anyway), and different sets of glitches that work or do not work. - that movie is any% for its game - following the above two points, this movie is following a different set of restrictions than that movie - that movie is faster than this movie. I'm honestly not really seeing a good argument for obsoletion, other than "both movies go through Mega Man 2 stages without completely breaking them".

If a movie loses time to a WIP, it does not necessarily mean it loses to existing records. However, it can be an indication that a movie is clearly or provably sub-optimal, so such a movie can be rejected for that reason.

A tool-assisted speedrun aims to go as fast as possible within a certain set of goals. The goal of pacifist runs is to kill the lowest possible amount of enemies, and it's faster to achieve that with two players than with one. Hence, it makes sense to use two players.

There is no "better" option. Both methods are equally viable for creating a good TAS. Just use whichever method you like more, or are more accustomed with.

There does not necessarily have to be multiple choices, but we want to make sure that the available options are accessible to as many people as possible. BizHawk does not run well on Linux (if at all), so Linux users ideally would have an alternative that they could use. (This is also a reason why, for instance, Gens-rr is still up as a supported emulator, but that's another discussion)

Update: I've found a way to back up all TinyPic-linked avatars - adelikat is going to host them on the server, so we should be able to restore every former TinyPic avatar within a few days or so. In the meantime, I've replaced all TinyPic avatars with the following notice, to prevent large TinyPic images breaking pages: This affects all 72 users from the list in the first post.

This is something I will be working on (similar to how I handled PhotoBucket disabling hotlinking at the time). It will take some time, though.

As of yesterday, TinyPic started to disable hotlinking images to their site, as part of the process of the site shutting down over the course of the next week. TinyPic users have until September 16th, 2019 to access their accounts and download their images before the site goes down. Now that hotlinking is disabled, avatar images hosted on TinyPic are now replaced with a large 300x300 placeholder image looking like below. This violates our avatar size requirements and stretches out user profiles, so I'm currently working on the process of removing/replacing any TinyPic-hosted avatars on the site. As of writing, the following users have a TinyPic-hosted avatar which needs to be replaced:

I'm really not a fan of this idea - it essentially sets a time cap on a max score run once the first publication of it is made. If later on a score improvement is found at the cost of time, no matter the scale (even if it's just a single point that makes the run take one second longer), it would not be publishable per this rule. Then you get the situation where the run category you have isn't actually "max score" but really just "reach this arbitrarily published score", which is a poor fit for the Vault (and a poor fit for publication in general). I understand that this idea came about to fix other issues/loopholes with potential score publications, but it also just brings its own issues.
