Looks good. I figured you would probably want the broadsword if you are skipping items you don't need. IIRC the enchanted broadsword isn't much weaker than the magic sword. I guess the other bows (long, magic, and fire) and the magic lightning aren't worth it? I guess you won't be getting the chicken drumstick? I would imagine it would save time on the shadow demons and perhaps some other enemies, but maybe it isn't worth the time spent getting the ambers.

I assumed you would get all the items from the HoH minus the treasure and stuff in an 100% run. I figured you would get all chalices/items/life bottles. That would definitely make the planning easier. IMO, doing it the other way is just an all chalices/best ending run. Either way It's your run I'm looking forward to it all the same.

Looks good. I was wondering if it's possible to skip talking to some of the guys in the Hall of Heroes. Sometimes they give you useless stuff like treasure. That would save some time if that works.

Just noticed this was being worked on. I love this game and I always wanted to see a 100% more than anything. Have you made any more progress? I'm not expert on this game, but from what I can tell what you have is pretty good. Compared to the published movie the movement is a lot less shaky.

Oh I see that sucks. Either way I guess even if it's possible it would be TAS only. I have been speed running with Reinhardt and been trying to find things applicable in a SR. I have came up with some real nice boss strats for the Villa bosses though. I am just scared of the damn cog skip with Reinhardt. I'm trying to find a good setup, but it's just pure luck and a run killer.

I found a way to spam Holy Water faster. It only works on Reinhardt unfortunately, but I figured I'd post it for the hell of it. Link to video I was also seeing if he could skip most of the tunnel level. Near the start is the platform where the moving platforms come. Unfortunately you can't make the jump it seems and you just slide down the slope into the spikes. The slope is too steep to do the trick I found previously. Too bad cause that level is pretty long and boring.

I understand.. hopefully you won't get burnt out like I did. If you get past this hurdle at least the rest of the game will be much easier and less annoying to TAS. I wonder if a camera hack is possible. I doubt it's feasible though.

Any progress Nahoc? By the way, here is a small time saver for the boss in FoS phase 2 by CF23. Link to video

I haven't had a lot of time to work on this lately. I've messed with mission 5 some which is definitely the hardest mission yet. I think the MCV rush/build in the enemy base is still the best way to go, but it's a lot harder to do in this mission. I will likely continue this game on the PSX. If we ever get Dosbox rerecording or hourglass mouse support I would do one of those instead. I think it's more likely this gets finished before that happens.

Does this game work well in JPC-RR with mouse support? I have no idea how to use that emulator of course I would be willing to switch if it works well. If anyone wants to test it I would appreciate it. Here's mission 4: Link to video Nothing really interesting here, just rush the village as soon as possible. I thought you needed to kill all the buildings/villagers before, but apparently just kill the buildings I did to trigger the end. This also showcases the bad A.I. It gives up on me and I lose no men. :)

That's a little funny because Seth's missions are supposed to test the player and you are provided with more resources once Kane shows up. Once again, great run! By the way, I don't know how the PlayStation version compares with the PC version, but do you have a choice between versions of subsequent missions? If so, what choices are you making and why? (I realize that the two options are always very similar, so it doesn't matter much.)
Yes it's the same as in the PC version. So far I have chosen (on mission 2 and 3)the closest starting location relative to the enemy base of the two choices it's given me. There are also some minor details like in the last mission the other starting location starts you with three engineers, but further away from the enemy base. The MCV moves faster than a engineer by a small bit so it's obviously not worth it. You're right about the Seth missions. I always found it amusing how he gets more and more annoyed with your success. "If your lucky I'll have a helicopter come pick you up". :) I have a feeling the GDI campaign would be less interesting and/or maybe longer. I don't know as I have way more experience with the Nod campaign. I only played the GDI one a couple of times total because Kane is the man. I guess engineer + apc would be a main strategy other than MCV rush.

Another mission done in less than a minute. :) Link to video This was pretty straight forward too. You start with an MCV which you can sell to get a free engineer. Since you only need to capture the prison to win the strategy is pretty obvious here. The game is picky with deploying the MCV so bikes are used to clear some space. The next mission is really easy too. I will enjoy it while it lasts. :) It would be nice to clear every mission under a minute.

Thanks for the feedback. These early missions should be fairly fast. I suspect the later ones will be much more complicated and longer. I won't submit this cause I know it can be improved with frame advance. I just want to make sure I have my strategies down and have something to compare to first. It's a very fun game to TAS though. :) Edit: It appears the the Playstation mouse works with Red Alert and Red Alert - Retaliation. It doesn't appear to work on this game though and I don't even think the emulator supports the Playstation mouse. I'd love to see those games done someday if mouse support is ever implemented. I'm not very familiar with those games so I would put that on my wishlist for someone else to do. :)

Nod mission 2: Link to video I'm pretty sure my strategy is perfect here. I tested massing minigunners in the enemy base, but it was slower. I don't think much too much time can be shaved off here. Maybe a few seconds with better execution. This level definitely makes you multitask and shows off the kinds of strategies you can expect from this.

Yeah, you could do that to block off an enemy base and you would be left alone after that. I remember doing that some in the PC version. I would suspect it would work in this too. I have no idea if it's worth doing in a TAS though. I suspect engineer rushes will be the fastest way to win many of the missions. It definitely is on the early ones.

This series of games would be great candidates for TASes. They are fast paced and should have some interesting strategies. I actually started a test run for the N64 version years ago though unfortunately I was plagued by desyncs. Luckily I am able to do the PSX version. I am interested in continuing what I was doing before and that is running the original game on the Nod campaign. I recorded a test run of mission one. There's not much to say. I think there's not much to improve other than better luck with path finding and enemy blocking (although I had really good luck here especially on the bridge.). I figured It would be best to test run the game first and plan out strategies for each mission before I go for a serious run. If anyone knows this game well feel free to share any strategies. Here's mission one: Link to video

Nice I'll leave it in your hands, Nahoc. This game has a lot of TAS potential, but like I said my time is limited and this game is a lot harder to TAS than I thought. I think I would rather do a 2D game and I trust the end result would be better in your hands. :) Anyway, I will help you anyway I can. I'll try to keep glitch finding and/or help in any other way. Edit: By the way, I discovered something small. It may be useless in the grand scheme of things, but who knows? Anyway, if you put the put the pick up item button on autofire (c-right I think?) and jump backwards on a slope, you can stop on the slope were normally you would slide down. It only works on certain parts of a slope. I've been experimenting with it near the boss door on the slope, trying to get clip past the door.

It's definitely not impossible, it's just difficult because it reverses the camera. Seriously fuck the game designers who programmed the camera in this game. I wish the boss camera didn't exist or it could at least go away once you move far enough. Obviously they didn't intend for you to skip the boss.. Anyway, I figure I'll try to see if I can maybe glitch my way pass the boss door. I tried the press "L" to levitate cheat and if you go over his door, he never spawns (you still fight him at the end though.) If I could clip pass the door It would be awesome. I need to play around with glitch finding a lot in this game before I ever go for a serious run it seems. There is a lot of glitches waiting to be discovered I'm guessing and I don't want to miss any. By the way, maybe someone could help me. I'm trying to find some memory addresses with this game. I mainly want the speed address, so if anyone could help me that would be great.

I haven't had a lot of time to work on this so progress has been nonexistant. I will have to redo the first level AGAIN if I continue this. It's because you can skip the first boss. This is an double edge sword because although it saves a lot of time, it messes up the camera for the whole level. In my opinion it would hurt the entertainment value some, and also my sanity because TASing the whole level with the camera facing the wrong way would be a nightmare. I am conflicted whether or not to just kill the boss instead to avoid the issue. Another speed vs entertainment argument I suppose. I tend to prefer the former most of the time. You can see the trick here, just with the normal camera because he defeats the boss. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kl7tVUf7K_g&feature=player_detailpage&list=UU1WVliLUgnF3WAlzMjQYdZg

Voted yes, although I find this the most boring Juste any% run yet. Mainly because it doesn't show as much of the game as before and doesn't get the opportunity to whip launch off enemies. Good improvement, but I think I'll stick with the all furniture run. I find that one much more entertaining.

Oh okay. Not that I would care or would mind if you wanted to partner up on this haha. Yeah, it can be tricky to do the LGG on an angle. I know I didn't use it in my test run on stage 2 with all those moving platforms. I also will hug the stairs much better there. I should be able to save a decent amount of time there as well. Only thing I worry about is having the timed saved being canceled out. Mainly cause of the dumb meeting with rosa. We will see I guess. I swear I'm not doing a 3D game ever after this...

Are you working on this or something? I'm nearly finished with the Forest of Silence. I've managed to put the candle grab trick in and manipulate an extra crystal without wasting time. I've also reduced lag by manipulating the never ending spawns of skeletons and improved the platforming using the LGG (ledge grab glitch) better. The mini boss was manipulated to his death faster as well. If you want to know about the LGG I might be able to answer it. Basically I have to hit the jump button near a ledge and advance 2 frames then hit hit jump again. Holding jump at this point controls how high your ledge jump will be. In most causes you just want to hit jump, advance 2 frames, hit jump and release jump asap so you land on the platform as soon as possible. I usually have manually check what frame I can begin it with on each platform.
