It should be a concept demo because of the fact it uses SRAM. Infact, so should the Julius run and the hard mode AoS run (none of which should of been published anyway, but thats another story..). If this is published and not a concept demo, I might as well start working on a magician run In CotM to obsolete my 22:44 run and my 5:34 run, because it would mean SRAM is the norm now.

I think pirate only does runs that start from SRAM :) It's nice to skip the way-too-long introduction of the game (which is around twice as long as this run). *recalls Aria of Sorrow's obsoletion situation* Should I stop working on my run now? ;)
No JXQ! Edit: Also, why do you say in your in your submission text condescendingly, that Kaz discovered the whip launch and not me? Since when did I say I did? If this actually is published it should be a concept demo.

Funny, just today my old and trustee PSX controller I've had for years and use with a USB adapter started messing up. The R1 button doesn't work anymore. :\ Atleast I have two other buttons I can map it to. RIP JXQ's controller!

I'm pretty sure the only other book on your route you get after the Max Slimer fight shortly before the second meeting with death. I guess wait for Kaz to give the definitive answer. If thats true though, you'll most surely save more time keeping the book for a MUCH faster Max Slimer fight with the Gradius Shield than just saving a small amount of time in a few places extending the launch. Edit: Can you manipulate big hearts off like Skeletons and the like?

I see you didn't jump at the slope, and thus used the same luck-manipulation sequence as I did at the end. If it is possible (not that you want to go back now), you could get the car to shoot very early from the left, so you can jump to avoid it and land on the same platform at the edge, and jump again.
Yeah, I tried fooling around some. Thats why I have over 4000+ rerecords on only a minute or so of game length. I ended up loosing a lot of frames trying to manipulate the ship in other ways. So, I just copied your input. Atleast I got 2 frames. I'm going to work on Chill Penguin then Boomer. After that, I'll have to decide which route to use. It'll probably end up being your test run route.

i choose #1. you could have a really close and epic 2p battle as a bonus. make it really close to keep the viewer guessing who will win. you can also pull of any combo you want.

remember you can extend your launch speed in air if you whip or use a subweapon as soon you can attack again. you might be able to use the book subweapon to extend it, then jump and you'll get even farther in that room. that is, if you actually have any hearts to use. you could always start a new stomp launch off one of those pike guys, or another candle. you have to press forward for one frame to stop momentum to start a new launch though. otherwise you'll go forward instead.

here you are JXQ. it's not optimized but it shows it's possible atleast... I think the angle your at is key. edit: I did it much lower this time. I don't think the back dash is needed, but it helped some.

Looking pretty off the wall. I'll test the stomp launch some after I finish the MMX intro stage. It'll be different with different sized enemys though.

I've just finished Skull Knight. Yay! Now I have the double jump, and need to relearn optimal movement before I progress further. I'm trying to whip launch off of candles and/or enemies and having no success. If anyone has any pointers I should be aware of, that would be cool. Thanks!
Cool. I'm not sure about the optimal way to do the whip launch off enemys or candles yet. I do know that doing the dash launch you hit 'A' for 1 frame and forward for 1 frame, then you back dash as so as you can, and then you hit B and whip 2-3 frames later and you'll start flying. Have you done this any so far? There are a few edges you can do it off of to save time. I've got a movie a few posts back if you missed it. If you don't mind I'd like to see a WIP.

I wish I had a pale complexion like he did. Maybe I should avoid the sun for 20 years. Btw JXQ, have you worked on this anymore? Just curious, no hurry!

I have no idea where he went. It reminds me of this though. There has been a number of people here who just up and left and never said anything about it.

I never unstood why Juste went around collecting furniture... I mean what the fuck is the point? I guess I'll take some time out my busy schedule trying to rescue Lydie, and kill Dracula and collect some furniture?! The fucking Castle is destroyed at the end anyway! What a dufus.

Oh I am. I'll worry about the route after chill Penguin. So if anyone is going to convince me to use a certain route, or if someone somehow gets the heart in Sting's level, do it before I'm too far ahead.

One frame away! I'm only one frame from freaking getting the heart. I only need to press right one more time before I hit the wall. I just barely climbed wall by holding for 11 frames instead of 12 though. So I think it's impossible but just barely. Maybe one of you guys can get it because I give up for real this time.

Here you go, have fun... Stop my movie after I hit 'Y' and move all the way to the right you'll see that it grabs it clearly. The dumb thing doesn't come back with it though. If you could some how keep the heart on the screen long enough the game would probably not delete the sprite. I went as far as I could, but maybe you can find a more optimal way and make it work. Good luck...

Wow, I keep finding more stuff out. Apparently you can launch glitch off of edges if you back dash and whip right after. You should be able to abuse this everywhere with a edge like this. This saved about 6 frames vs the normal way of getting it.

Apparently it's possible to clear that gap in the Skeleton Cave without the Ice Fist after all! It seems back dashing at the edge of platforms gives you good momentum. I'm sure it's useful in a bunch of other places and probably will save time in jumps like that all over. I'll see what else I can find.

1) What do the levitation boots do that are manipulated? Are they better/worse than or even similar to the super jump?
They let you slowly float up to where ever it is you need to be. Slowly is key here, as the super jump is way faster for climbing vertically. I assume Kaz doesn't have the super jump at this point and uses the boots to sequence break.
2) What weapon goes with the lightning book to get the Gradius shield? And when's a good time to grab this weapon?
The holy book and bolt book are for the gradius shield. As for when to get it, I recall Kaz getting it some time after the max slimer fight. That doesn't help much so I guess Kaz is the best person to answer this. Keep it up! PS: You should be way more faster than 235 frames at the first keyhole. That is if you use my trick I just discovered, and skip the Ice book. I see no reason to get it.
