What do you think about opening a thread (maybe with help with someone who can understand Japanese) about Mega Man romhacks, showing your list of hacks and asking about which one should be TASed?

The romhack is.. meh. Not the greatest ever, the graphics are not all that cool and the music is the same.
But the movie is good. Even with missed shots it's fresh and entertaining.

I voted yes. It's quite entertaining, and a nice add to the DK collection. In my opinion it's better than most of GB-to-SNES adaptations, and should be published.

Would you agree, then, that there aren't really any substantial gameplay differences between this and DKC2? I mean the style of gameplay as opposed to anything like level layouts.

(That's one thing that gets me sometimes about submissions being rejected. If something doesn't seem quite good enough and no such run exists yet, it doesn't give nearly enough people the opportunity to see it and say "hmm, maybe I could improve on this".)
Worse yet, this run is being made since March 28. No one, in any moment, gave this run any kind of critic.

As a puzzle fan, I'm happy to see that someone gave Super Tetirs 2 + Bombliss some loving.

My suggestion about this:
1) Don't use the category anymore, just accept two different character's movies
Oftentimes runs with alternative goals are accepted because they are entertaining even though they do not achieve the fastest possible game completion (but they do achieve the fastest completion with that goal). I think it's good to denote it when a run uses an alternative goal. "!00% completion" is one such alternative goal, and using a slower character is another. They both deserve being mentioned as categories.
(The custom has been, at least in some runs, to use "xyz version" where xyz is the name of the playable character, in the title of the run. However, I think giving it a category is also important because it helps in searching for such runs, create statistics, and other things.)
The problem is not the use of a slower character, but the criteria of "suboptimal". In Castlevania 3 you'll have to use completely different routes to reach each character, so maybe it's the route that is suboptimal.

I absolutely loathe this line in the submission text. People have the full right to disagree on something, and this line gives these people a label that they are are taking things too serious at the moment they post. I think it's very cheap.
Dude, check Upthorn's attitude, he's almost calling the cops because someone submitted a TAS without the author's consenting. He's even naming "property rights" for a TAS. The only one which have any "rights" in this movie is the Nintendo company.
This is not about fans and their movies anymore.

I don't really see a problem in a tag pointing out if the run didn't abused any glitch at all. Seeing that only one movie is marked by NOT using gliches, the defaut should be "abuse glitches moderately".

"Plays using a suboptimal character" - this is a strange category. SMB2J Luigi's run being suboptimal is undertandable, as SMB2U Peach's. But not the alternate Castlevania 3 paths, the "small only" Super Mario World (I mean, he's even the same character) neither... Castlevania Rondo of Blood Maria's run is slower due to a cutscene, not due to the caracter being suboptimal.
My suggestion about this:
1) Don't use the category anymore, just accept two different character's movies
2) Use this category only if the route is not forcefully changed (like both SMB2s, Castlevania Bloodlines)
Also about "demonstration", "playaround" and the "demos" special section.... aren't essencially the same thing?
Lastly, I'd suggest splitting the hacks from the demonstrations.

The better venue for that would be to link it from the DS games thread. I think it is very bad precedent to set that the author's permission is not required to submit a file to this site.
The thing is, it will make the Tetris DS thread a battlefield instead of actually discussing about the game. Then again, we already have 7 posts here, and no one actually took the time to see the movie...

Stop complaining. It is, the author's choice. He wants the Game Gear, I respect that. The run is good, the Game Gear is good. If you want the Master System version done then well do it yourself. You are insulting effort by people who worked hard. Move on and get publish this.
You are insulting my intelligence using weak arguments for defending a choice. IIRC, TASVideos is about discussing if the video, game choices, gameplay and gameplay choices are good enough to be published, not a personal dump of anyone's videos. It's not called insult, it's called "criticism".
