Taz-Mania is one of the unfortunate games demonstrating the holes in Gens's sound emulation. If you want to hear what it's supposed to sound like, you'll have to break out Kega. (Though that just graduates the sound from "irritating" to "underwhelming".)

This is the Epic Hitbox Abuse run. Most notably that bit in World 5 where Mario hops up into a warp pipe while there's still a Piranha Plant in it.

I liked the part where you didn't shoot anybody. Except for the level bosses, who got cornholed so fast they didn't even have time to ask for a reacharound.

For the record: the movie syncs fine with the 1.10 BIOS and the ISO/MP3 dump of the ROM. 'Course the MP3 tracks are less glorious than a proper rip. Voted Groovy for extensive use of warps and skin-of-the-fingertips level shortcuts. Also for humiliating Major Mucus, leaving that little bitch Peter to fend for himself, and going on a seafood-free diet by skipping Bob entirely. For all the time I spent playing this back in the day, I'd never realized Jim said "Thorn!" when bounced off thorns.

I almost wonder if there was some staff from Q! Entertainment involved in making this title, because the sync between the soundtrack and the explosions puts me strongly in mind of Rez, E4 and Lumines...

Nothing says Taito quite like an entire level of blowing the crap out of outer space Moai heads. But yeah, Marcokarty's got a point. The title on this run should probably be 'NES Gradius II "weapon set 2" in 22:22.79', not 'GradiusII "speed run"'. Which naturally means it has the additional hurdle of establishing a sorta-alternate category in a game without so much as a single published run to date, but, in the immortal words of Super Chicken, you knew the job was dangerous when you took it.

Are you sure this requires a savestate? I ran the FM2 file as-is in FCEUX 2.1.4a with no problems. Though I was a bit nonplussed to discover the hack author had apparently omitted the entire closing credits sequence.

You know, you'd kind of expect a weapon that homes in on and drills into the back of an enemy's HEAD, and then EXPLODES, to be a little more reliably fatal. Also, I'd be tempted to call a female lead in a Turok game a Turette, but then you spend the whole playthrough wondering why you're not hearing an endless stream of swearing. Okay, enough jokes. Yes vote, despite the fact that N64 diagonal-FPS runs make my head hurt.
