I voted no. My vote may not be as technically important as somebody else's vote seeing as I have little to no contribution here, but I have what I personally believe is a good reason to reject this movie. From what I can tell, TASVideos prides itself on publishing only entertaining runs, with said runs having to be entertaining to the average viewer who does not know the game. This is the impression I get when I see absolutely awesome runs being rejected for reasons such as "it's only entertaining if you have played it". As such, this game being a piece of gaming history should not matter in any way whatsoever as to whether it should be published or not. And it was not entertaining. Thus, this is a "no" vote for me. Edit : From what I can see reading the comments, I'm not the only one sharing this opinion.

VVVVVV. Plants vs Zombies playaround? Like, the puzzle levels. Although that would require starting from a saved game... And I'm 106% supporting Super Meat Boy. I'm drooling already at the thought. If flash games count : Super Mario Crossover, the game being played with each character separately. Of course, I know that no game would get eight runs of it on the site, though...

En lisant ça, j'ai des doutes. :p Je ne savais pas que tu étais Québécois, Janus. Si j'avais su, je n'aurais pas autant hésité à t'aborder lorsque tu travaillais sur les TAS de BoF et BoF2.

In light of this new TAS, I suggest to add a "Hell yes" voting option. For the time being, I'll use the lowly, underrating "Yes" option.

Making a joke submission because it's April's Fools is one thing. Insulting an entire country, on the other hand, I disapprove of that... Therefore, I voted yes.

Janus, Janus, Janus. You're a freak. You only go after long games. Are you trying to establish a record on the site? :p Someone made a topic on the GameFAQs board, and one of the game's veterans gave various thoughts about possible strategies that could be used. http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/196817-breath-of-fire-iii/57517886 Not that I have any experience with actual TASing other than watching them, but I believe the Lava Man trick might be the way to go, since you get crazy experience. It takes a while to do it, but you get so many levels, which make every single boss fight shorter afterwards, since you hit for more. Besides, you may get a powerful skill from a master you are training under, such as Shadowwalk, etc. Not sure that would end up faster though. I'm not a veteran of the game anymore, as I haven't played in so many years that I forgot a lot of stuff. I wish you the best of luck. This is promising.

The Force Gene (which is required for the Warrior form) is found in the underground lab at the plant, which you get access to roughly midway through the game, when Ryu is adult. It's not too far off the beaten path, in a vent.

Sure, lets obsolete some runs BY A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT GAME. Makes sense to me.
That happened with the Top Gear 2 run of the last country obsoleted the "one track" Top Gear 1 run. Although the circumstances wanted it in that case, but not in this one.

It's kinda sad that so many of woabclf's runs get rejected. Perhaps it's time to move on to other games?

13:37:73? Yes vote for that alone. :p (Seriously, very nice run. I never played the game and I was entertained - that's what all TASes should achieve.)

The 7th Saga is the hardest RPG... no, the hardest game, that I have beaten. Seeing it destroyed like that is satisfying beyond belief. Yes vote, no question asked. I followed each update on YouTube, so I knew I was going to vote yes anyway. However, this is one of these games that might not be that interesting for someone who hasn't played the game beforehand. Especially with all the walking and such. But most of the boss battles are really tense due to the "limited" manipulation of this game compared to many other RPGs.

In all honesty, I wasn't too impressed with the run. Which is a lot to say because even woabclf's Rockman L run (which was rejected) keptt my attention more. But I know I am a minority here. I don't know what's with that hack, but something about it isn't appealing to me. But it only concerns the hack, not the run. The run itself is good. Especially the use of special items. Due to the nature of my problem with the run, I refrain myself from voting, but I wanted to voice my opinion nonetheless. A few extra personal comments : I dislike a lot of the robot masters stage designs. I liked Wood Man's stage song (from an SNES game called Live-A-Live). I liked Dr.Wily stage 1 the most of the entire hack. While I know it's the fastest way to kill that boss, seeing the dragon die the same way in every hack gets redundant. Wily stage 2 boss was great. Wily stage 3 seemed fun to play. I didn't understand anything (in a good way) about Wily stage 4. Actual, I changed my mind. I vote yes for publication. The Dr.Wily levels are really good. I just found the robot master levels a bit "meh".

Unlike a game like Super Mario Kart which can easily be broken to hell and beyond, F-Zero is the kind of racing game that wouldn't be too entertaining to see a full playthrough (all three leagues - 15 tracks). But at the same time, a single track is rarely accepted on the site for the reasons we know. An idea would be to do like the Top Gear 2 run, which started at the last "country" of the game (in F-Zero terms, that would be playing only the King League), on the hardest difficulty. Thoughts? Anyway, I voted yes, because I liked the run. However, I'd be happy to see it published, only to be obsoleted later by a King League or full run later on.

Dunno how this could be done, but that sure would be interesting to watch! ...Well, not on this particular game, though. :p As far as the run is concerned, I'll refrain from voting (unlike the other movie submission), because it is an improvement, and maybe that alone can make the difference... Maybe. Good luck. On a sidenote, I wonder. Is this the quickest improvement to a run in the site's history?

I am a big fan of chess, and I am very saddened to come to the same conclusion as everyone else. My sincere apologies. I voted meh, but it won't make a difference in the end.

I think there's a mistake in the title. That wasn't Symphony of the Night, it was too broken to be! In other words, yes vote. :p On a sidenote, I thought it felt a bit repetitive at times, but it didn't detract too much from the entertainment.

Easy yes vote for me. Less dragons = more entertainment. Couple that with a faster completion time and we have a winner. ... I didn't watch it yet, so take my vote as you wish. But I liked the previous run(s), and wished for more powerful physical criticals ("Special") to begin with, so there is no doubt that I'll like this new run. Great job!

I don't see what is so special about what I wrote. I was just explaining a bit the reason why I think this TAS is good. But I don't mind, you can quote whatever I say. Anyway, for those who have never played the game, I'll explain in a bit more details. Basically, in Top Gear 2, there are 16 "countries". Each country consists of four(?) tracks. I am unsure if it's exactly four, or if it varies between countries, as I haven't played in so many years. You get a new password after you beat a country. I like to compare it to Zombies Ate My Neighbors, where you get a new password every 4 or so stages. As you gain money, you can upgrade your car's engine, nitro power, armor (collisions weaken your armor, and weaker armor = poorer max speed, probably cornering and acceleration too, I forgot), and so on. However, the opponent cars upgrade as well, as you progress through the game. I know for a fact that their upgrades do not necessarily match yours, as I tried low upgrades before, and they were getting upgrades and overpowered me quickly enough, but I assume it's by country. I would like to think that each racer gets upgrades separately depending on the money that they gain in races, but I doubt the game would be that indepth. If I recall correctly, you need to be in the first 10 to be able to go to the next track at all, and you need to be in the top 3 scorers to pass to the next country. Correct me if I'm wrong, I haven't played in so long. Like I said, it is absolutely essential to upgrade your car to keep winning (or qualifying, as finishing first isn't mandatory). Of course, you do get money, so it's not difficult to get a few basic upgrades while playing normally. But if you don't win enough or don't get the optimal upgrades (like getting armor upgrades first instead of engine or whatever), you find the opponent cars overwhelming quickly enough. This isn't like any regular platforming game or shooter game or whatever. You aren't invincible due to the TAS abilities to dodge any incoming attacks and hit the enemy everytime. Due to starting on the very last country with no upgrades, the opposition is overpowering. It's your underwhelming, unupgraded car against fully geared opponent cars. It's not about showing skill, as skill alone cannot win these tracks. It's about using every trick available to win and move to the next track. In this case, using other cars, along with other carefully planned strategies. I want to compare it to an F1 race. What if there was one car that went 25 miles per hour slower than everybody else? He wouldn't stand a chance would he? Real life needs tool assistance too. I think that a full game TAS would be uninteresting because it would be easily over 50 races (16 countries * 4 races = 64 races), it would get dull quickly. Don't get me wrong, I'd still watch it and enjoy it, but a lot less people would feel the same way. This TAS has a great twist. Many racing games (then again, it depends on the game too) get boring and dull quickly, due to the repetitive nature of a racing game, where it involves multiple laps of the same track. For games where laps are quick and/or show many impressive tricks (Super Mario Kart for example), it's not dull. But for game that are closer to "simulation" kind of racing, which is a lot slower-paced, it's not as interesting in general. That is basically why I think that a full game would not be received as well, for this particular game. The twist is great. Last country, non-upgraded car. I think it's the best setting for a TAS, for this particular game.

I am voting yes. Top Gear 2 is a pretty difficult game (on the hardest difficulty setting). As you play the game and beat a country or two, your car SCREAMS for you to buy it upgrades to keep beating races. Starting at the very last country, with a totally non-upgraded car? I wouldn't have thought it could be possible, even in a TAS! The manipulation is brilliant... Only someone who has played the game a lot can tell the extent of it. I think a full game would be boring to watch in a TAS, because it is a bit more repetitive to watch run perfectly. This submission uses the perfect setting (in my opinion) for this particular game... and even adds in the suboptimal car twist!

Hello. Um, sorry for this, uh... irrelevant comment, to the actual run... There is no seed to download the file from. I normally wait several days if there's no seed and any and every run I have downloaded in the past has always been completed due to getting a seed within a day or two. But I have been trying to download this run for well over a week now, and no seed at all. So, uh... Could anyone seed it? I'd be extremely grateful. Thank you very much.

Hey, I like Paladin's Quest a lot. I can't really help with strategies because it's been so long since I last played it, though. But I'm definitely behind you for the completion of that game, just like BoF2 (which was amazing) and BoF1.

I take it you are not getting the equipment in the chests along the way? From my personal experience due to playing "low level games" a lot (especially in BoF1), if you take all the equipment in the chests along the way, Frog's weakest attack (the pink thing he throws or spits, can't remember) did occasionally as low as 5 damage to me, when in the back row, at level 1.

I agree with that. I think that having a list of all commentated runs would make many players actually check out these movies even if they previously weren't interested in them. That would be my case, anyway.

Personally, I don't mind whether people make funny or informative commentary, as long as it remains an optional thing. If commentary (by the author) was to be added in the actual video (like commentated Let's Plays on YouTube for example) as opposed to in a different (mp3) file, then I would disagree with entertaining commentaries as opposed to informative commentaries. On the same note, I wouldn't mind seeing multiple commentaries for the same runs (assuming that more than one person / group of people somehow were interested to do that, were it to happen), if one was mostly informative, and one was more entertaining. For an entertaining commentary, you don't really need to prepare anything special. But for an informative commentary, it is particularly important to gather a lot of information ahead of time, reading the author's submission notes, the game topic and strategies applied, possibly adding information on previous strategies or ideas, and so on. In that regard, NapstrPSX's commentary of Halamantariel/Nitrodon's Earthbound TAS was amazing, because on top of that, he also added a lot of his own experiences with the game, as well as general, interesting information about the game that wasn't shown in the actual run. A shame that run was obsoleted. So anyway, I think that both kinds of commentaries should be accepted. I mean, if someone wants to make an entertaining commentary, chances are that person wouldn't bother making an informative one, so the run would have no commentary at all. Rather have one commentary which is good for a lot of people, than no commentary at all, right? After all, it's an optional feature when downloading a run, so it's not like someone who doesn't like an entertaining-oriented commentary is forced to listen to it. However, I think that it should be specified, when linking to a commentary, whether it's more oriented at being informative or entertaining.
