Anyway, here's my opinion:
Are there any frames of the robot going OoB with more action filling the screen? I agree that it should be the trick to showcase but this isn't 'well framed'

It is apparently not optimized, so he shouldn't submit it anyway.

Had to watch it twice to realize what was going on, even with the notes. Very clever :) I'd love to see this as a submission.

I think it would be okay so long as it shows something new off. If the crystal TAS route is exactly the same as the gold TAS route, for example, I doubt it would be accepted for minor differences.

Hi AndiHoffi, it's not the same category as you propose but check out this real time score run by andrewg. "Super Mario Bros - World Record High Score - 1,435,100" Link to video "This is a score I got back sometime mid-2011. This was played by Twin Galaxies' ruleset which basically just states that one cannot leech points by using a single turtle (over 2 times), no glitches can be used for score, and you have 5 lives to do it."

I wonder if a TAS submitted to tasvideos of this game would allow for the use of the 'cheat' labelled button or not. Is it morally equivalent to L+R or morally equivalent to a cheat code?

Having commentary available with the TAS is a huge draw for the TAS, especially for people not familiar with the game at a high level (which is, let's face it, 99% of people). So I think this is the way to go if view count is a concern. It works for speedrunners (xGDQs)

How about the Kirby's Adventure glitched frame-war? It got improved something like 10 times, starting with taseditor and ending with I think MESHUGGAH.

I think that just making a single player TAS would be amazing enough on its own for this game. Less ambitious maybe, but much more likely to happen since single player has been more solidly routed out and glitch hunted ^^ I hope to see work on this game, it's really fun to watch and fast paced :3

Yes vote. This is a hugely hard game to say you have played as fast as possible, with difficult movement, manipulation and unfathomable glitches. To take on such a project is commendable and you've done well. There's something neat going on in every stage and I wonder what new glitches/improvements will be incorporated in future TASes of this game (if anyone tackles it). BTW, I think you should have a link to video proof of all glitches you did not use in the run, but could save time (for benefit of future TASing)

More directly, a new TAS would benefit from all the new OoB glitches, wouldn't it?

The only thing I hate about Kickstarter is the fact that it works with amazon. That means I can only pay with credit cards. Where I am from, credit cards are very uncommon, so that means I cannot support something I am actually interested in. I already asked them if they could include a Paypal option, maybe that will work. If it doesn't, do any of you have an idea on how to pay in a way that stops me from needing a credit card?

Random question - Can a NESBot be made to be compatible with a Powerpak and thus allow console verification of any NES game? Or is there a technical reason making this impossible?

The RTA WR is on White 2 ( http://www.twitch.tv/sinstar20/c/2545915 ) but I don't know if it means anything for TAS or not Also werster picked White 2 as well, having this to say: "Black 2 vs White 2: The difference between these games come from the layout of different areas. The first plasma first adds an extra battle for White 2, but the second one has two less battles in White 2. Reversal Mountain also has one less battle. Time saved for White 2: 2 battles, ~2 minutes" So unless there's something TAS/segmented only to exploit in Black 2 over White 2, White 2 is coming up as the winner.

I already thought about a G/S/C run as well, since there seems to be no run of it (not counting the glitchless run), but I don't know much about the glitches in this generation, yet, and they are not as well explored as in Gen I afaik. Also, it appears to be harder to gather information about it (e.g. I wasn't able to find any reliable information on the glitch used in the video you linked). There will be a lot of research to do first, but I may be up for it in the near future.
I suggest you approach TheZZAZZGlitch ( http://www.youtube.com/user/thezzazzglitch ) and PM him. He is an experienced glitch hunter in RBY and GSC (he helped demonstrate an arbitrary execution glitch in gold with the coin case, for example) and knows his stuff

Extra bonus if it could be used as a regular gamepad as well (perhaps there could be a switch to select which mode it is in.)
Indeed, it would be a great feature which could make the device look more credible in the eyes of casual gamers. Actually, it would be even more awesome if the gamepad could also log the buttons while in the "normal gamepad" mode, and then replay these while in the "TAS replay" mode (mode 3?). This would introduce even the most ignorant people to the concept of logging and replaying input (without needlessly bringing the next, complicated step: tools like savestates, etc). And no problem if these replays are going to be desync-prone - even a single successfull public attempt to replay World 1-1 of SMB should be enough to get the idea.

Rules for puzzle mode: -You can only make one 'stroke' that can't overlap itself -Every horizontal line must be made entirely black or entirely white If you think the TAS is boring, try to solve each puzzle before playing the solution. It gets hard in the 30s etc :)
