Voting is to determine if it was entertaining. Your voting on something irrelevant. That said, a bunch of people seem to vote for other reasons other than entertainment. So please dont think I am singling you out.
I thought it was not allowed to accept TASes that do not beat all existing records for the category they beat (unless there is some ulterior reason why it cannot, such as a change of rules needed to make the TAS entertaining, or emulator differences, or of course if it is a playaround) Of course entertainment is important too.

Seconded. You could use the Glitchless category here as a guideline for what should be avoided: http://iwbtgrta.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page

Great TAS, yes vote. For screenshot I like #2 and #3 for the amount of action they imply.

TASvideos is not designed to be a repository of every possible TAS ever made, only TASes fulfilling certain objectives (high levels of optimization, beat all known existing records for a category OR is a highly entertaining playaround that still beats the game, can be played back by other people, etc) By all means TAS all you like, post TASes in the topic for the game on tasvideos, upload them to youtube, whatever you want - but if you submit it to TASvideos it needs to meet those criteria. Have fun :)

Saturn has a fully complete TAS of this game, and has had it for years(?) but hasn't submitted it.

(The reason why there is a special build of Mupen for DK64 is because the normal Mupen messes up the physics of the game.)

At 27:10 into the youtube encode - what is this high jump trick you use to get the missile after leaving the pirate ship, how does it work?

You mention ingame time is faster but frame time is slower... this is the part I am lost at. I understand about different emulators.
From the description, "It should be noted that this run would have beat the old one in realtime as well if made on the obsoleted emulator that was used for the last run." In-game time I believe is not affected by lag as well.

As a non-TASer I'd suggest something like this: 1) Get a very good feel for the movement mechanics of your guy (how fast you can turn, accelerate, decelerate, if you can slide against walls, if you can bump against a corner without losing speed, if you can bounce any, etc) 2) When faced with an area you want to optimize your movement for, route 'on paper' or 'in your head' what the ideal path for your model of how the character moves would be 3) try to match it, and watch the frame count as you do, as slight 'mistakes' may be slightly faster

Wait, do you mean you want to submit a TAS, or you want to make a video ABOUT TASes/TASing?

Does anyone know if the developers of PPSSPP have any interest in making TAS tools for their emulator? (Or are even aware such a target audience exists?)

Unless Bizhawk is already using it, you need a build of Mupen specifically designed to TAS Donkey Kong 64, edited by Cronikeys.

The precedence on tasvideos is that fighting game playarounds are accepted if they show off a large amount of glitches, oddities and entertainment. So, I would go for it if you have enough stuff :)

Someone watching Summer Games Done Quick 2013 asked if there were any Bunny Must Die! speedrunners. I thought this would be a good opportunity to bump this topic and remind people that this would be a great game to speedrun/TAS/see TASes of indeed! ^^ (Maybe the nico TAS needs to be mirrored on youtube?)

There are some people who think resetting mid-save is an invalid operation and shouldn't be allowed in a speedrun. This category satisfies those people. It also means that this TAS could theoretically work on platforms where the 'reset' input can't be used or accurately timed, such as Gameboy Player for the Gamecube.

Great, another game broken to the point it just jumps to the credits routine. Yes vote.
The best part is that this is such a well designed game, with almost no glitches in comparison to how messed up Super Mario World 1 was... and all it took was ONE glitch to break it wide open. I'm reminded of Luigi's Mansion King Boo Early.

Looks great, and well done for the extreme optimization by bot. However, there is a rule that says that SGB mode should be used if the game supports it. It would be a shame if this run was rejected based on the rule.
It would also be silly - no emulators that could do SGB for this game were appropriate given the TASer's criteria!

Are there any games where being able to do input more than once a frame allows you to do things you could not do before? (Barring the case of subframe reset timing)

A TAS of Devil Dice and the sequel Xi Jumbo could be interesting. Not sure if full game modes or just showing off crazy combos. Link to video The main difference between Devil Dice and Xi Jumbo is that you can now pick up and put down dice and stack dice two high. They have pre-set puzzles, randomized challenge modes and multiplayer battles.

Are the minor improvements forgone because you couldn't figure out how to make your bot aware of how to do them?

Can you release all input files/scripts/notes then? It can be picked up by someone else.
