Oh geez, I am loving the ridiculous oob, routes and gunplay. I didn't know anything about this game or TAS and now I'm really excited for it :D

Well, then I got another question. This game was TASed by nitsuja, you, Sonikkustar and many others very experienced TASers, why didn’t anyone try so obvious thing before?

I tried Rogue Legacy demo. It crashed from startup with hourglass. However, it asked me to install .NET framework and XNA framework, and I think we already observed that XNA games are not working.
Ah yeah, that wouldn't work then. Maybe in the future then :)

Is this really necessary? Okay, the guy made a mistake by submitting an unoptimized TAS. That's no cause to just dump on him.
Agreed. This kind of situation arises from confusion, not from malice, and it's simplest to just correct the misunderstanding with correct information.

You have to understand this is my 1st TAS EVER.
Not every TAS has to be a submission to tasvideos when complete. The purpose of tasvideos is to hold records for beating games that beat all known existing records and cannot easily be improved. If you are new to TASing, make TASes with the purpose of becoming better at TASing or figuring out how a game works, not to submit yet. And you can always ask for feedback by posting your TAS in the topic for that game instead of submitting it - submitting it is equivalent to claiming 'My TAS cannot easily be improved by anyone' which, if you are not sure, should not be done.

Oh, I was wrong, there's nothing you need the mouse for in Rogue Legacy. So if it works in hourglass... it can be TASed right now.

Of this game? Not sure. I don't mind TAS's that do use glitches but play through most of the levels (No glitching to skip a level) and stay relatively within the boundaries of the intended path within the levels. TAS's like the fairly recent Super Mario World ones where you swim under the levels or fly through terrain are boring as all fuck and then the most recent ones just glitch the game to show the end (Much like this particular TAS does), hurray?!
There is a 2p warpless TAS and a 1p warpless TAS: Link to video Link to video They are from 2005 and 2006, though. I bet they could be improved a lot.

Is Rogue Legacy TASable? It is compatible with Windows XP. It would make a good TAS due to the difficulty of the game, its popularity and how incredibly broken the controls would be in a TASer (you can twitch left and right with no momentum whatsoever). It might require a mouse to play, though, but that seems to be getting worked on anyway (by Brother Mojo et all) http://www.gog.com/gamecard/rogue_legacy Minimum system requirements: Windows XP / Vista / 7, 1.6 GHz processor, 1 GB RAM, AMD X1950 Pro/Nvidia 7900 GT DirectX 9.0c-comaptible video card or better with 256 MB VRAM or more, Direct X 9.0c-compatible sound card, 400 MB HDD, keyboard, mouse

Of course it's boring, all the good games have been done already! :) I'm just glad to have found a game that I had experience with and that did not yet have a movie posted here.
I have to disagree :) A huge amount of interesting games have yet to have a TAS made for them either due to the difficulty of optimization, not having been TASable until recently, lack of exposure/popularity or some combination of the above. Also, good speedruns of good games can always be beaten/you can try TASing new categories for them. Obviously 'has a speedrun on speeddemosarchive' is not synonymous with 'would make a good TAS', but for some ideas check out http://tasvideos.org/SDARunsWithoutAPublishedTAS.html

Probably the official response will be 'no, it is not an official version of the game', but I want an amazing spyro TAS badly and I'd love to see the rules bent on this one.

Just posting this so it has somewhere to live: Link to video Windows game in the style of La Mulana/Maze of Gallious, 2D platformer with tons of upgrades and a hub world branching off into levels ending in bosses.

hilarious if it wasn’t for me it’d be even less optimized, I’ve beaten his first level’s time unassisted before and am confident I could do it again, but I cba just sad to see how bad everyone is at judging quality
Do you have any videos or screenshotted times?

Why? You can't copyright a glitch :) Just do it and give credit where credit is due

Interesting watch! I enjoy all the ridiculous acrobatics you have to do to avoid rings especially in loops and seeing all the different characters at work. On a related note, seeing as how the Sonic Advance 3 TAS was made back in 2006, is there enough new tech that has been discovered to make an improvement, or is it too well optimized already?

I love how my TASes becomes precedents.
I actually know the former case where Vault obsoletes Moon. Current glitched Chrono Trigger speedrun beats both Star and Moon tiered speedrun, while it ended up being in Vault. It was when tier system didn't take place, though.
This is an obsoletion that I never liked myself because while it was technically faster it obsoleted an extremely entertaining glitchfest (compare the 5.0 rating to the 8 of the previous TAS)

GoddessMaria15: Too arbitrary for tasvideos, but if an arbitrary goal makes for an interesting challenge and end result, what's the big deal? Other goals like 'what's the minimum number of rings you can beat the game with' and 'how much of the game can be beaten with knuckles and no d-pad' are interesting.

I think 'what is a glitch' / 'what is not a glitch' should be determined by psychological reaction from a typical viewer.

If the conversation isn't to do with the thread or meant to be read by anyone else, that seems like a good candidate for PMs or IMs.

This might be amusing: As of today, every single fight but one now has a perfect run in real time (in game time matching the TAS time): Link to video Narcis is the only one left.
