So it would have been ok if this TAS was submitted when the version it used was the current version? If VVVVVV then got updated, would the TAS be automatically obsolete?
Here is a new trick. By jumping and flying to force knuckles into the wall by the jump and fly trick.
Enjoy the demo on the trick on Death Egg Act 2 on the Long Play version of the game.

Very interesting game. Looks like one of the old DOS games, almost. I haven't played it, but I still found this really fast-paced and entertaining. Yes vote!
It's actually in many ways an homage to the Commodore 64k, including using the same standard font. I think it also imitates the palette, though the analog way in which colors were handled back then makes this an imprecise proposition at best.
It's a homage to games like Jet Set Willy and the Dizzy series in particular, with monotone coloured sprites that move on a set pattern for enemies, names for every single (non-scrolling) room that appear at the bottom of the screen and so on.
If only for the duplication done in Sluggy the Unshaven's Fort I prefer red coin duping to non duping. It adds a lot of entertainment value to the run imo, since by definition you only do it to skip slow to get red coins, and it's funny to see red coins rain down over and over :)

This game is a sequel in the style of Within a Deep Forest - you control a ball by moving it around and holding buttons to change its physics, needing to do rolls and ricochets rather than jumps. The game also adds a physics engine and lots of vehicles and balls and boards you need to correctly position to proceed.
I was wondering if this game worked in Hourglass properly. It'd be a really cool TAS due to all the physics and unusual ways of moving around it has.
after being away from this topic for a while, i see that there is improvement for TASing BT
does this mean that anyone is doing any runs now or just any WIP
BT only just became TASable with a mupen hack (see http://cronikeys.com/mupen64-bt.rar ) and BK is also being TASed so I don't think anyone is working on it atm. So, go ahead and show us your stuff :)
I've done a bit more any% TASing.
Fun news: I've started a playaround TAS. Since it is for entertainment, I'm doing it on Japanese. Anyone have any requests of what to put in? I don't have a full route yet, I'm just going for it.
Sure, I have a bunch of ideas:
Does BiT have any interesting things you can do during it?
Do the alternative trials skip, the one that needs no soup, where you hookshot a skull and its magic potion from on top of the doorframe.
Make sure to unload the ocean at least once, that stuff is funny.
Door teleporting storage wherever it's interesting.
Have both a silhoutte of an island and the island itself loaded at once (I forget what glitch does this)
Manipulate bokoblins into killing each other
Throw shitloads of bombs around at once
Do the windwaker dive with the pear
Show off the invisible cliff where you can hang off of mid air (cosmo got this and tweeted about it, it's on the same island as where you get forest water near the jutting out branch you can do a windwaker dive off of)
Playaround with pigs
Make the kids on windfall island fall through the floor
Nicovideo encode is up.
This is in 60 fps, definitely check it out!

And don't forget: View with japanese comments enabled for highest quality
If you scrolled past all that: 60 fps
I watched trihex stream this and woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow
Trihex streaming it and the TASer commentary really amplified the experience for it. Every little thing would get a replay and an explanation, and whenever Trihex was going crazy over something you realized just HOW good it was and WHY.
Damn, this run was incredible. 100 Yesses (for all the %s u got)
Trihex will be streaming the full run in 60fps with us on mumble/skype within the hour, if anyone wants to hold off for that.
twitch.tv/trihex
Sometimes snes9x 1.43 v17/18 will explode in 1-7 and other levesls, so use v13 if that happens.
F MY HOT TAS
Don't forget there are ways to assist in TASing that aren't doing the TAS yourself, like routing, glitch hunting, finding memory addresses and optimization :)
By the way, I don't mind people voting No, but I'm interested in some comment explaining the vote, so I can learn how to improve stuff and what people find interesting.
Be aware that someone voting 'no' doesn't mean 'you did a bad job' - in this case it more likely means 'This game still isn't interesting even if TASed'
I have a question for Mr. Grunz, what are the 3 ways to super swim? I'm thinking of beginning to TAS this game and want to know the possible ways to super swim, I only know one of them. not sure if this is the place to ask or not.
"Fastest stage 3" is like someone doing a fastest "World 8" run in SMB. It's an arbitrary goal and there's no real reason to stop on Stage 3 if there are more stages afterwards. It's like you gave up on going any further because it got harder.
No.
From the description:
"The run is only of the first three stages, because the game doesn't really change anymore after stage 3, it only gets a bit faster."
So it's not the hardest level, but it's the only non-arbitrary point to stop at (unless it ever gets so fast it becomes literally impossible, or there is integer overflow)
My hand slipped and hit the 'Yes' button somewhere around when Yoshi spat out a buzzsaw.
This run was AMAZING. Every level seemed set up to display a different aspect of Mario and Yoshi's amazing athleticism and repetoire glitches. The run was even more fun to watch on nicovideo with all the comment spam whenever something amazing happened. Entertainment level off the charts :D
My highlights. Did you notice all of these?
和歌山 (わかやま, Wakayama)
-Invisible/wrap around yoshi glitch
死の山 (死のやま, Death Mountain)
-Alchemizing a rainbow shell from nowhere
なばなの里 (なばなのさと, Nabana no Sato)
-Imprisoning and freeing Mega Mole
-The mysterious case of the 1up on the lone Bullet Bill
-Discovering Podoboo-Yoshi
-Riding a Mega Mole
-Discovering Baby Yoshi-Yoshi
-Glitched sprite Lakitu kill
-Mario demonstrating Koopa Shell arithmetic (1 + 1 = 3)
-Swapping a buzzsaw and goal tape into yoshi's mouth
一等地物件 (いっとうちぶっけん, Prime Property)
-Mario pretends Fishin' Boo and their trolltastic hitboxes don't exist - two at once!
-Ending 1 frame from death
博多湾 (はかたわん, Hakata Bay)
-The ultra fast underwater ascension + clipping through the maze
スカイツリー (スカイツリー, Skytree)
-Ascending so fast the camera can't keep up *2 or more
-Block duplicating an elevator for Yoshi
-Yoshi gulpin' down a whole Pokey at once
-Chargin' Chuck looking back as he realized he missed his one shot at jumping on Mario from above
-Recharging, juggling and ascending with multiple throw blocks (and doing some block duplication while we're at it)
クッパ城東京支部 (クッパじょう とうきょうしぶ, the Tokyo branch of Bowser Castle)
梅田地下街 (うめだちかがい, Umeda underground shopping center)
-'OK, I got Yoshi - cya later level' *clips downwards through everything and ditches Yoshi*
地獄 (じごく, Hell)
-All the instances where you sent mario and Yoshi down different paths and rejoined them later
-Some interestingly multistaged clip setups
天国 (てんごく, Heaven)
-Landing on the same shell you threw to grab a rainbow shell and break everything
-Mario getting stuck on thin air and flailing his arms trying not to fall down, Looney Tunes style
-ON/OFF block duplication to go up... and down
-Extended item playaround
-Doing some P-switch jumps to pretend the ending puzzle doesn't exist
クッパ城京都本部 (クッパじょう きょうとほんぶ, the Kyoto headquarters of Bowser Castle)
-Three wall jumps in a row
-Pausing the game (THE WORLD)
-Ending input
The reasoning goes like this: Imagine if a new glitch was discovered, called super-RBA. Super-RBA puts everything in the game into your inventory. 100% now consists of the any% route with a short detour to do super-RBA. Is it interesting?
You can't skip dungeons with it, as you'd lose light medallion.
You can get light medallion back by wrong warping from fire temple into the 'got master sword' cutscene where you first get the light medallion. (this is used in 'All Medallions' category to skip beating a bunch of dungeons)
