If 1000fps can be reproduced using only powerful enough hardware and intended in-game functionality, then it should be OK.

When a real human wants to speedrun Towerfall at 1000fps, what do they have to change? An in-game setting? An ini file or command line argument? Use of an external tool?

Well, if the TAS is optimized, and viewer reception of the category is high enough for Moons, and the category makes sense (beats the game, requirements well-defined) then it can be accepted to TASVideos. What's '124'? Is that catching all pokemon possible glitchless without using a link cable? Is it different enough from the glitchless co-op diploma run to warrant being published alongside of it?

If I understand correctly, a game crash happens when you do something the game can't cope with, so this should then theoretically be possible in this game too(?). I thougt that getting above the water surface in water levels, it could be pssible to achieve a crash, but how getting there should work is unclear to me. Anyone has an idea? Or is it not possible with known techniques?
If you go back a few pages a crash bug was being discussed: http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=430648#430648 Note that not every 'impossible' action crashes a video game. Some will be ignored, some will corrupt memory, etc.

Generally things should only be left unimproved in a submitted TAS if it's difficult to actually make the improvements: -An optimization that was missed or discovered after you TASed that section, and would require more than a day's work to redo everything up to that point -A theoretical optimization that you have tried to achieve but cannot (RNG not lining up, not quite enough pixels/frames available, a new discovery must be made for it to be possible, etc) If the submission form doesn't make it clear what level of optimization is expected from submissions, perhaps a staff member should reword it so it's clearer what first time TASers should do?

Thanks for the feedback, that was quick. I'll be honest, I knew about Baxter's run, so part of me expected that. Maybe I'll give it another try with something else.
If you specifically want to obsolete Baxter's run, I think your best shot would be to make pixel art. Maybe NES/GB era Mario or Link?

"One thing I noticed in playing various ports of the C64 version is that the hard caves are *much* harder than anything in the NES version! There are many more bugs and tighter time limits. I think the original version would make for a nice TAS, if only it could be emulated. " Bizhawk has C64 TASing now. Time to TAS this version?

Link to video This is an 'ice physics' game with almost no friction, where your life, your size and your fuel (your ability to change your momentum) are linked. In the second installment, Helious II (which use to cost money but is now free to download), the difficulty level is extremely high. The ability for TAS-like movement to vastly exceed that of a human's is notable in this kind of game, and it would be a visual spectacle with how many things are trying to destroy you as you fly around the level.

As for the RNG - I know with reasonable certainty that in Dodonpachi DaiOuJou, the RNG is advanced whenever anything 'random' happens, because if I take a savestate before a boss and use the laser a different amount, I get a different pattern, and I tend to see the same patterns over and over related to different lasering amounts. Any idea if something similar is going on in Dodonpachi? Or is it an input-reading RNG?

For pokemon RBY and GSC, the pokemon glitch forum 'Glitch City Laboratories' ( https://forums.glitchcity.info/ ) and youtubers like TheZZAZZGlitch ( https://www.youtube.com/user/TheZZAZZGlitch ) have extensive documentation of pokemon glitches and arbitrary code execution methods. Pokemon RBY is probably the biggest hotbed for ACE. Besides having a ridiculous number of ways to reach ACE in general, it has one of the easiest ACE methods to perform in real time on real hardware, with the '8F' item - using input like taking steps on the overworld, arranging items in boxes, etc. code can easily be written and executed. I don't have a timeline of ACE history in Pokemon RBY, but these are the places you'll want to start looking.

A long overdue and excellently researched TAS. Maybe this game will finally be put to rest? It's not looking like 5.54 can easily be hit, but who knows?

Excellent TASes of a puzzle game employ strategies, not just faster, but more complex and more precise than human hands can easily do. Yes vote.

Can you please say for this specific game, can "Aims for maximum score" goal fit the vault rules as kind of "full completion"? Or not fit? (Max possible score is finite number.)
#2211: alden's SegaCD Desert Bus in 41:17:15:05.68
It looks like Desert Bus got rejected for being too similar to real time play, not because the goal is invalid.

I think the fact that each match has a time limit, and no action gives arbitrary points without taking in-game time, means max score, deathless is a well defined category.
