Out of curiosity, how would such a program run without frames of visual latency?

RE 1: Does your TAS aim for in-game time or real time?

'[396] SNES Secret of Evermore (USA v1.0) "100%" by Saturn in 2:04:06.12 ' When TheAngryPanda finishes his Secret of Evermore TAS (last I heard he was on the final boss), it won't be the same category but it'll be a modern, fully up to date TAS of this game. (And really, it'll be such a huge difference it should probably cross-category obsolete it)

I would use the iQue version. Now drop the subject.
Fun fact, you can't do GIM in iQue, for the same reason you can't do it on N64.

Actually before you start, would more testing around for any minor timesavers be helpful? Or at least list some possibilities, and see if new things can be found?
That's what the preparation is for :)

I really hope that an Isaac TAS - if such a thing ever gets made - just goes for nothing but fastest time and ignores all arbitrary stuff by the community.
It should be like the Spelunky TAS already on the site - so fast you don't even have time to take in what just happened :D

Here's a (not optimal) Yume Nikki TAS with the audio. Link to video Read the YT description to find out why and how.

I apologize for any mistakes in writing this; it's almost 2am. Welp, using a new trick that allows Mario to jump after leaving a battle, we can now cross the gap in the sewers by the Chapter 4 pipe. The set-up: Using Koops below the two platforms, keeping him there, guiding a Spinia towards him, and jumping onto the bottles in the back left between the platforms Then you must Spin Jump and release Koops so he hits the Spinia as Mario begins to Spin Jump. Spin jumping right before entering the battle allows Mario to jump for one frame after leaving the battle. Doing so at the right height allows Mario to gain enough height to make it to the left side. Since we can do this, Yoshi is no longer required to reach Chapter 4. This means that the chapter 3 route: Bookcase Jump, Macho Grubba, Chapter 4! Also, you get Yoshi back after defeating Doopliss, so not much time will be lost from walking with Mario instead or riding Yoshi. How much time does this save? It's an estimate of 10 minutes, but we're not really sure yet. RTA viable? Maybe??? It's pretty difficult and time-consuming. TL;DR - We can skip Yoshi = basically no more chapter 3
RIP Yoshi, and about time

There's no fundamental reason why Binding of Isaac isn't TASable. However, the tool for TASing Windows games, called Hourglass, is not compatible with Flash games at this point in time.

can't he just use the current TAS as a verification movie?wouldn't that be a better general practice for us TASers?
Densetsu no Stafy has a TAS, Densetsu no Stafy 2 doesn't.

Wow, I never knew this thread existed! I've been playing piano and working with analogue synthesis and live composition for a long time now and haven't really had anyone to share with. Regardless, I'm fairly proud of this re-arrangement since I wrote all of the MIDI by ear. https://soundcloud.com/playinpixels/noisia-arcade-machine-live Here's the original for comparison https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJiUgxxgz6k
Not bad, though I feel like with the pitch bend-y craziness of the original, you missed an opportunity to translate that brimming energy into something an orchestral arrange might do. Keep it up! Here's another from me, this time a collab with Count+Step: Link to video

What they mean is that if "Ragnarök" is a different category, it shouldn't obsolete Ouzo's TAS. It seems you have caused some confusion with the way this site marks the different categories (pacifist, 100%, all-bosses, no-warps, and so).
Calling it that is an injoke. It's 3 players category like Ouzo's TAS.

If you make a verification movie that unlocks NewGame+ and then you make a TAS that starts from after that verification movie and beats NewGame+, you can submit that. If you think it will be entertaining enough for moons, then it will be accepted.

Any favourite moments/screenshot suggestions (else I get to pick)?
The chapter 4 section with the circular battlestation that spins black and white streams of shots alternatingly is the iconic part of Ikaruga for me, so something from that would be my suggestion.

I don't want to sound insensitive, or offer diagnosis without firsthand knowledge, or claim to know more than professionals you've seen, but what you're describing sounds like a dietary issue. Are you eating healthy? Have you tried shifting your diet to foods with a lower glycemic load? Are you getting enough sleep at night and enough sunlight during the day? Precise issues are hard to track down when you're dealing with a more general destabilization of what the body needs. If you are managing yourself correctly, then I'm sorry for offering this suggestion.
Seconding that this stuff is really, really important. Pretty much through my entire school/highschool life, I mismanaged my sleep quality and would often fall asleep during class and have no energy. I never questioned it - I just figured it was how things went. I only made a serious effort to understand what things make me tired and what things give me energy starting last year, and now I feel WAY more in control over my life now that I can make and verify predictions. If you don't have energy, you can't do anything. It's a great place to start.
