Link to video There's some kind of button limit (like the minimum a button presses challenge in SM64), but I'm not sure what the exact rule is.

That barrage of yes votes is fairly surprising, actually. Personally I wouldn't put it into moons... while the run is short and cleverly optimized, the game is still kind of obnoxious to experience with your senses. I gave it a 'meh' (just now).
It's surprising, but contrary to what Tangent says, I believe people are finding it genuinely entertaining. (It helps to know what the game being played RTA looks like.)

Hello there...I was wondering if anyone has advice on what to change in a Metroid ROM to achieve the same Kraid position on Powerpak as on console. On Powerpak, whether from poweron or reset, Kraid is further away from door. Thanks.
Sounds uninitialized RAM related.

Now then, what does this mean for the TAS? It means I'm gonna have a fun time blowing my ears out trying to get solid RNG while maintaining some kind of respectable pathing/timing through this damn place.
Maybe you (or someone else) can find a RAM address that indicates if the game will glitch out, and display it on screen.
It's highly unlikely to be as simple as a single RAM address, given it's a music related glitch.

Well, sound tends to be butchered during frame advance, so chances are, you would be forced to use trail and error to find the right frames to press regardless.
It's butchered, but it's deterministically butchered, so you could learn to recognize what means what (if there's only very simple sounds playing for example)

It is not the emulator's problem, it is the problem that your keyboard cannot send all possible combinations of buttons (in general, if you hold down too many at a time, it stops registering new ones, and how many is too many depends on the keyboard and which buttons) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rollover_(key)
Strange, the keyboard accept <AB but other directions not, how to fix it?
If you're skeptical if it's the emulator's fault or not, you can test in notepad. If you hold down three buttons and notepad immediately reacts to the third one being held down, then your keyboard is working fine. Try different combinations if vAB doesn't work. Like vZX or vQW or vTY. There should be a combination somewhere that works.

First off I want to say, I am a long long long time viewer of this site. I love tasvideos.org. It has been my home screen for at least 5 years. Seeing this video on the home screen is what pushed me to actually make an account and post something This rom hack is GARBAGE! Look how broke it is! Sonic can jump off thin air in every stage and stay unharmed. This is a thorough and quality site. With all due respect, this TAS video has no room on this site. We have to draw the line somewhwre. This DEFINITELY crosses it. Am I right or wrong? Is this not a garbage TAS? In respect for tasvideos.org I purpose this TAS video be removed from the site. Do you agree or disagree?

By the way, they want to see a (4 player if possible) TAS of the ending credits sequence where every single block is broken. You know what to do :p

There's no thinking that needs to be done, because there's nothing you'd call it besides Playaround...

Okay, I can't go with the branch name "Mokujin" can we just simply call the branch "playround"? Yes, I'm requesting someone to think about the branch name.
Playaround, it's what all the other fighting game 'for entertainment' TASes use. And it certainly doesn't aim for speed.

How about TASing Sonic hacks instead of original games? Runs of the hacks are usually way less optimized, and there is a very wide area for improvements, finding shortcuts & so on. Also, as marzojr’s experience shows, TASes of Sonic hacks are quite acceptable on TASvideos if they are done well.
There's nothing wrong with TASing something already TASed for practice. It makes it even better to learn that way, since you know what it's 'meant' to look like right away ^^

The equivalent of the html 'pre' tag in BBCode is the 'code' tag. Like so:

abcdefghij

(Assuming you can't change it within Bizhawk:) If the OS is Windows, you can use a simple AutoHotKey ( http://www.autohotkey.com/ ) script to bind any key/button input to send Alt+F4 instead.
