Beating Death's first form, and then exiting the fight during the second form produces the hardest of hardlocks, it flat out crashes the emulator... no idea what'd happen on an actual cartridge / console, but stuff like this might not be exactly healthy :P
When you find crazy crashes like that, you have to make a note for them, because stuff that produces crazy/destructive behaviour is usually where ACE is found ;)

EDIT: Okay, wow, that was fast (click for video). I gave it a couple more attempts before nodding off, and I ended up finding a faster way to fall after the screen transition. I was almost literally a frame late to getting the clip, but fortunately I found a very slightly faster way to fall that gave me the frame or two I needed to pull off the clip immediately. I was prepared to spend hours on this to no avail. This was actually kinda anticlimactic. I'll have the final file up after the aforementioned sleep, along with a brand new encode. The final time is looking to be around 19:17.68 now, give or take a couple frames.
Beautiful.

Just in case anyone ever gets bored enough to make Amy's Story TAS, it has some new clips now ;) Link to video The other one is using the old man statue to clip in the first minute of the game. Not sure if it's on youtube or not, I saw it here: http://www.twitch.tv/venick/b/544370049

"Does not eat any chucks" What about Does not spawn any Reznor? The same logic applies...
The logic behind the decision is that chuck eat -> bring orb to level -> use orb to skip level works regardless of what the level is. Whereas spawning a reznor to beat the level is interesting because it relies upon properties of the level you enter. If you can spawn a reznor/skip the level almost anywhere in Super Demo World 120 exit, it would of course be banned under a similar mindset. It's kind of like how you're not allowed to use ACE in 100% style categories.

It's a TAS, notice the name of the channel that uploaded it. Also, BUMP because this is a huge improvement. I was just looking at this because dragondarch was doing runs of the game, and noticed how much faster it was than the run on the site.

General question: do game shark cheats work generically that way? For somethin as in a color of an object and so on?
All a gameshark code is is it forces a memory address to a certain value, so you could reprogram a whole game with millions of gameshark codes in theory.

Play on the version that is easier for you to TAS in. Differences in timing due to version differences/emulator differences/language differences that only change lag/loading/etc are ignored by TASVideos judges when deciding if a movie is faster or not (e.g. if the meat of the gameplay is faster, it's faster)

Is it emulator dependent or does it have some subtle ingame cause? Maybe asking someone with SNES debugging knowledge can help find what's going on. :o

The glitch was named a wrong warp when it was found, but it's not really one. The category for this run would be "Game end glitch" indeed.

So I came out of "retirement" and finished my Super Demo World - The Legend Continues "120-exit" TAS yesterday. The problem is that I did this on SNES9X v1.43 which is not accepted on TASVideos unless a continuance is granted. The reason why I stuck with SNES9X instead of LSNES is because I started this run on August 28, 2011 and finished half of it before SNES9X v1.43 was no longer accepted. Is there anyway I can get this movie to be an exception?
Any chance it resyncs on snes9x 1.5x? Or does the lag differences change it too much?

Have you tried messing with programs like joy2key and 360ce to wrangle keyboard and controller inputs into each other and vice versa?

It would be better to make (or find) a 100% everything unlocked savefile and make individual level TASs for youtube. Then after you do a bunch, if you're still having fun, you can think about doing a new game any% run :3

Was this submitted under the old system? Because, under the new system, I don't see why this wouldn't pass. We decided that not being entertaining was only a downside to certain categories, and that technical feats could stand on their own. I also don't understand the idea of having a movie that was rejected actually published, with rendered videos.
I'm not sure I follow. The new system, vault, allows publication only of simple categories (100%, any% glitched and non glitched. Ok, the latter part I'm not as sure about but you get the idea). You can't vault 'minimum buttons pressed', so it has to go in moon, and if it was able to go in moon, it would already be published.

Well, even if it's a Steam game, sometimes you can just run it in offline mode or move it somewhere else and it runs fine. I would test but I do not own this game currently and don't feel like bugging my friends who have never used Hourglass before to muck around in it.

Anyone knows if Shovel Knight can be TASed in Hourglass? Everyone and their grandma is speedrunning it atm, so it seems a good choice.

Would a TAS of this game be faster than the HD edition? (I know there are no Wii U emulators, though) It is in RTA, but i'm not sure about tas.
Definitely, you can superswim without storage in TAS. Or do you mean TAS of this vs TAS of HD? That would be tough, since HD RTA has no superswims at all, but HD TAS would be able to superswim everywhere yet again. Probably HD would win but I'm not sure.

Are my eyes going bad, or does this have a longer time than what it obsoleted? Should we put in the description why that is?
Possibly the old movie was timed at 60 fps and the new one at 59.7275005696058
Don't you guys usually mention that in the description when that happens?
Yes. You may notice though that the publication description hasn't been written yet. Obviously someone will need to write it first, then you can see it mentioned in the description.
That's not good enough! I want it done yesterday! ;)
