I'd say the coins should be spent, as it gives the run opportunity to use extra power ups that otherwise would not be used, because the time saved from using the power up is not greater than the time spending the coins. A 'individual level time' vs 'full game time' argument I guess.

Is it known how you were able to just land on those spikes with no damage near the end of that video LTRP?

Brilliant. I was hoping for an alternate goal choice other than speed for a Knuckles run one day. I am really looking forward to seeing more.

Are there any spiders shown in this run?
Yes. On the YouTube video from 26.20-ish to 26.40-ish, and probably the 2 return trips through that room at the very least.

I won't get into the minefield of a 100% definition(yet); but I do hope a run along those lines can be done. The any% becoming a demo for a few major skips was a huge disappointment for me, (as interesting as those glitches are) as, for lack of a better term, it looked like the any% was going to able show the whole game off.

First of all, lets start by linking in the verification movie. This movie plays through the game normally (a good deal of it in real time), gathering all Chaos and Super emeralds and finishing the game. The latter is required so that the present movie can begin from Angel Island zone.
You would not actually have to make a speed run, tool assisted or not, of Emerald Coast. Just provide a movie file for the emulator, that unlocks Tails. Then start your actual Tails run, with Tails unlocked and ready to go. Good luck with your run!

Thanks; gotta save this for the tasvideos archive.

So if I remove the icon but leave the flag (so that Movies-AVGN still works) will people still need a Taxi? I'm sorry this single icon has caused so much anger.
Whoops; will it help that I was really, really, drunk when I started this topic? Still, associating the the site with a guy who only has polarizing gimmick that morons love or people hate is pretty dumb.

Ha, saw that AVGN is now a category on the front page. Well done! I now consider the site a joke! Bye!

Is it relevant to the discussion that this version of the game can provide a movie that is substantially different than the original SNES version due to the extra options that game has included? The GBA version extras include a second character with different mechanics, and an additional objective for the '100%' category. (The game tracks Dragon Coins being collected, and provides a bonus 'ending' for collecting them all.) The standard goal of 'fastest completion' must ignore these additions however, and thus creates the 'too similar' issue. In a port that can provide substantial differences to the original due to its unique additions; is selecting the goal choice that most closely emulates the original, even for the vault, a valid category?

Whilst I fully agree with the idea behind the vault; 'every game has a place here for a TAS of it'... You do realize you seem to be having a serious discussion about Desert Bus right? No one here wants to to take a step back and just think about that for a second?

Waiting for April Fools when he will submit a full, cheat less, fast and entertaining run, after months of even more of these types of submission until then.

http://www.twitch.tv/iateyourpie As of typing, two skips adding to about 1min 30seconds (according to the runner) found in the volcano. Skipping the block pushing puzzle to the super hammer room, and skipping the boulder that opens up the Heart block room.

Though it is encouraging that you (hopefully) have figured out why it works, rather than just simply brute forcing a low time. At the very least I imagine it will prevent a similar road block at the 'Huge Crisis' boss.

Yeah, what you showed off was excellent, great job. Hope you can get back to TASing (with a decent emulator set up) soon.

No thanks! ^^ Glad to see that a TAS of the game looks as nice as I had hoped. I saw that your route went through a Special Stage monitor, but did not get the rings to use it. What is your Chaos emerald route going to be? I'm surprised that there are quicker Special Stage monitors to use than that one.

There is one thing with this game: the only TAS possible is a 100% run
On the bright side, 3 of the 5 special stages are more akin to normal stages than the 'collect rings' auto scrollers. You also get 3 extra bosses in 100% IIRC. Glad to see this get some attention. (And to be honest would prefer 100% in this game anyway.) Good luck.

Have to say, I am enjoying Knuckles Advance week thus far. Great video GoddessMaria. Made the current run, which I enjoyed, look awful in comparison. Edit; Spoilers; Dash jump did post an week-ish old wip here, but now he has added a two day-ish old wip on yt. But shhh... its a secret to everybody. But from my average perception dash jump; Damn, the improvement is like night and day. Keep it up man!

Do you not have Tails with you as you have done the levels out of order? Edit; vvvv. I never realised they took that out of the DX version. In the Dreamcast version Tails is with you in Adventure mode at plot relevant points.

Your kidding... 15 seconds from the end, you find an improvement 15 seconds in? This restart 5 now? Edit; Wasn't trying to imply he should or should not submit what he has; just find it amusing 4 restarts in, where a runner would hope he has picked up on every little detail, he finds something new in, what must be one of the most infuriating places, the start... when he is at the end. God speed toothache.
