Well I'm not even half way through Kirby's Dream Land 3 yet, and I've just today started on Looney Tunes. I'm already pretty far in that though. It's a very short game. I did find a trick in the Speedy Gonzalies stage that saved TONS of time. But that's off track. While I am pleased with the tricks I've found, I think that Drill Dozer is too advanced for me. The game sort of expects you to buy all the energy tanks. (health boosters) Not buying them makes it a real challenge to stay alive. With the very small amount of health I'd have at the Missile stage, It would be impossible to plan out what to get hit by, and what to avoid. So yeah. Drill Dozer isn't for me, but I might try to find more tricks sometime, but that's all I'll do. I've seen this in other threads. People discovering tricks, but don't do the run. Then other people say they should, since they are finding them. While a person may find some neat tricks, it's only a very small section of the game. Even if one discovers tricks, it doesn't really mean that the person finding them is really good at the game. That one part will be a bit easier, but the rest of the game is still as hard as ever. I'm very bad at expressing myself, so that may have been a bit confusing. Basically what I'm saying is that just cause I'm finding tricks, doesn't necessarily mean I'm any good at the game. Just observant.

Oh gosh no. Drill Dozer would be a really hard game to run. I'm sticking to easier games since I wouldn't have the patience to plan out harder games. I'm just posting tricks in case other people want to run this game.

I'm in a bit of a jam here. I'm running Looney Tunes for Game Boy, and I'm at the Tazmanian Devil Stage. In this stage, you spin through bricks and collect pieces of meat. The stage lasts 60 seconds before time is up. My problem is that spinning through the bricks causes severe lag. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be aloud to just stand there and dance to the music the whole time, but if I plow through the bricks, a 60 second stage can end up being a lot longer. What would be the right thing to do in this situation?

My Work in Progress of Looney Tunes. Stage 1. There were a couple things you may find odd such as killing 3 of 4 fish in one part, not blowing up the TNT bricks in the first room, and taking the left side path in the first water part, but all three of those were to reduce lag. and besides, the right side path in that room only would have saved 5 frames max. Most of my re-records came from the mini bosses and the boss, but the room with the falling boulder things and the tnt blocks was really hard to get right. Next level is Tweety. Tweety is the most annoying Looney Tunes character (close second being Speedy Gonzalis and those two civilized polite mice characters) Tweety's level has the most awesome music in the whole game. I love this song. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/639787083/Looney%20Tunes%20run%20%28U%29%20%5B%21%5D.vbm *edit* Here's levels 1 and 2. Tweety is a really short and easy stage. pretty much all of my re-records for this level were for pulling off both of the tricks where I need to touch Sylvester. Avoiding Sylvester Jr. took a few tries too. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/183732794/Copy%20%283%29%20of%20Looney%20Tunes%20run%20%28U%29%20%5B%21%5D.vbm

Just so people know, I'm going to pick this run up. It's a fairly short game, and I consider myself to be really good at it. My main problems are going to be mini boss and boss fights. Also, this game does suffer from lag at several points. I haven't finished the first level yet, but I'm very pleased with my Yosemitie Sam and Marvin the Martian fights. I'm really not sure what to do for the Tazmanian Devil level. Grabbing a piece of meat will waste time with the score totaling at the end, and spinning through the bricks causes lag. granted, It does have a time countdown, so lag might not effect it. I would have to somehow (frame advance and tons of tries) have to spin through the bricks without getting any meat. I'm at a very hard part in the first level. At least it's hard the way I'm doing it. It will however, save time. Will post a WIP when finished level 1.

Something I've wondered about ever since I learned about it in science class. This is sort of along the same lines as the information on paper question. Okay, so pheromones are sort of what make us attracted to the opposite sex right? One would assume that it's something you could only experience from direct humans, but why is it that it works via paper/TV? I mean, does the paper have pheromones in it? It's something that's been bugging me for quite some time.

I wrote this poem. It just sort of came together one morning. I had no intension of writing a poem, it just sort of hit me. I was later able to use it in my english class. The High School School is a place that all teens need to go, Even when there’s twenty centimeters of snow, Most of the times the kids don’t even show, Cause we all just learn things that we don’t need to know. Throughout the whole long time that the teacher teaches, The rest of the classroom just bickers and screeches, The teacher will hush us and give one of those speeches, In one of those futile attempts to reach us. Throughout the whole school year tempers will flash, Where students will argue and start talking trash, And when there’s a fist fight the students will dash, Just to enjoy other kid’s egos clash. But let’s not forget the whole big picture here, Of why we all go to school year after year, To get educated and keep friends we hold dear, And let’s all keep in mind graduation is near. Brian Benjamin Inwood (Pekopon) Pretty neat huh?

Okay, here are all the tricks I've found so far. They're listed in order of appearance in the game. Area 1, Level 1 A small time saver. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1178264308/back%20jump-%20Drill%20Dozer%20%28U%29.vbm The one I was unsure about. I realize now that this one is important to pull off since you can skip a text cut scene by doing it. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1988217217/skip%20text%20bounce%20-%20Drill%20Dozer%20%28U%29.vbm A jump I thought would be obvious, but was missed by the player. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/984099660/improvement%202-%20Drill%20Dozer%20%28U%29.vbm Area 1. Level 2 A nice time saver http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/840061387/jelly%20block%20bounce%20-%20Drill%20Dozer%20%28U%29.vbm The super ultra shortcut I discovered http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/152836090/ultra%20short2308%20-%20Drill%20Dozer%20%28U%29.vbm A quick and safe way through a difficult room http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/349652984/2drill%20down%20travel%20-%20Drill%20Dozer%20%28U%29.vbm Area 2, level 2 An obvious trick, but I should post it. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1724891102/one%20block2308%20-%20Drill%20Dozer%20%28U%29.vbm Not really tricks, but strategies on how to do this one part quickly. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/382229858/exper2308%20-%20Drill%20Dozer%20%28U%29.vbm http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1333703779/exp22308%20-%20Drill%20Dozer%20%28U%29.vbm NEW! I just did) http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1125377132/area%203%20trick%20-%20Drill%20Dozer%20%28U%29.vbm A nice short cut. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1146273439/jump-%20Drill%20Dozer%20%28U%29.vbm Area 4, level 1 A complicated shortcut ( which I'm not sure if it actually saves time) http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1906554229/hard%20stuff%20-%20Drill%20Dozer%20%28U%29.vbm Area 5, level 1 (though there's only one level anyways) Not really a short cut, but it's a huge time saver. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/787995278/drill%20bounce%20-%20Drill%20Dozer%20%28U%29.vbm A neat time saver with the infrared lasers. Thanks for cheering me on! I hadn't worked on this for quite a while. I've been trying to find shortcuts and tricks for the GBA game "Drill Dozer" I don't think I'll run that, but I'm finding tricks in case the guy working on it starts up again. I know it's only one level, but it's a neat one. Sand Canyon level 1 complete. There is a save state supplied that starts at the beginning of the Acro Fight. Movie file http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/804940073/Copy%20%284%29%20of%20Kirby%27s%20Dream%20Land%20thh%20%28U%29.smv Save state file http://rapidshare.com/files/71356032/Kirby_s_Dream_Land_3__U_.008.html I'm really not looking forward to anything after this until cloudy park level 2. (that's my favourite level) The Ado fight should be cool if things go according to plan. No idea what I'm gonna do at Pon and Con.

Well, I stand corrected. :) I'm pleased to see that you hadn't already found that super short cut I found. I'm so proud of that. Two other quick clips in a room of area 1 level 1. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1436131955/trick%203%20-%20Drill%20Dozer%20%28U%29.vbm http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1409562248/trick%204%20-%20Drill%20Dozer%20%28U%29.vbm The second one was the one I wasn't sure about. This trick's ability to work could be sketchy. It all depends where the bad guy is by the time you get there, so It might not work as planned.

I know that by now you have probably dropped this, but I've been playing through the game and experimenting things, trying to find shortcuts. I've discovered 2 that I know save time, and one I'm not sure about. I'll just post the two I'm sure of. This is a little time saver in Area one, level 2 http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/986010880/trick%201%20-%20Drill%20Dozer%20%28U%29.vbm In the same level right after the mid-boss This is the most significant shortcut I've ever found by myself in any game. I am very proud of this. Though you would only get one chance to pull it off on the actual cartridge. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1799118896/big%20trick%202%20-%20Drill%20Dozer%20%28U%29.vbm This is the way you're supposed to get there. granted, I didn't try to do it too quickly, but it's not even worth mentioning that it's slow since the way above is so much faster. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1722588115/loooooong%20way%20-%20Drill%20Dozer%20%28U%29.vbm Hopefully I can inspire someone to pick this up again. If I either quit or finish my Kirby's Dream Land 3 run, I might do this next. Even if nobody'y running this, I'll still post what I find.

Very awesome. I know these types of posts are frowned upon, but has there been any more progress? I'm not pressuring you or anything. I'm watching the SDA run again to kill time. I'm also busy with my own run of Kirby's Dream Land 3, so that's keeping my mind off it. (I'm excited about this run) Who knows. If I get sick of my KDL3 run for a while, I might do the next level of DKC3 just for a lark. I have no idea of any tricks for that game, so it would most likely suck. Even if you have one level extra or something, I'd watch that. But I'm sorry if I sound impatient by asking. I'll wait as long as it takes patiently.

That was great, but once again when one of these awesome events takes place... KIRBY IS ALWAYS LEFT OUT!!!!! I liked it, but I hated it so much since Kirby was left out, AGAIN! If this was in Japan, Kirby would have been in it. Kirby is WAY more popular in Japan. Kirby Squeak Squad had sold 1,000,000 copies in Japan by a certain time, while by the same time, it had only sold one fifth of that in the states. I don't know about us in Canada though. Just about every game player I've met here in BC likes Kirby, so I'm not sure what it is about Kirby out here than Ontario. Nobody likes Kirby in Ontario. (I used to live there) Kirby's sales probably also got bashed over seas due to the terrible dubbing of the Kirby anime. It's an entirely different show in the subbed version. Kirby would make an awesome Macy's parade balloon. Too bad it will never happen.

It was a silly question I guess. I just thought that it might screw up the final movie if the input wasn't on the keyboard or something.

It also needs to be played in Snes9x 1.51. It may be a long time. I hope to get it finished at some point. Not by the end of this year though. Sand Canyon is going to be tough. I Checked to see if a certain trick I did with Nago worked with Chu Chu, and it does. This will save me lots of time in 3-5. *edit* just thought I'd mention, I had to redo the second part of Acro so I keep Parasol. I need it for sand canyon.

It is okay to use a controller attachment. Right? If there are like exception rules, I think Kirby's Dream Land 3 would fit them well. Kirby's running and jumping mechanics are really messed up when used on the key board. KDL3 is one of those games where jump height is determend by how long you hold the jump button. On the keyboard, pressing it on just one frame makes it count as holding it for like, three frames. Also, It would be impossible to pull off all of the input on the keyboard since it can only handle three keys at a time. So what I'm asking is, Controller attachments are allowed. Right?

Yes well, Kine's turbo swimming seemed to make it work somehow. I'm glad to see that people are watching. Dream Land 3 is a very good platformer. It's still my favourite Kirby game. Though I think that by the time I'm finished this, I'll never want to play it again.

*shudder* 3-6 is going to be a nightmare. It's one of the things I've been dreading the most. And if I offended you about Gooey, sorry. It's just that Gooey is my least favourite Kirby Character, (Adeline, Ribbon, Nago, and Paint Roller being my favourites) so I don't really mind what happens to him. I only really did it since there was a potion right there. Also, it's a REALLY good thing I uploaded that file here. I replayed my video, and to my absolute horror, it had desynced at the beginning of 2-5, and all of my back ups did the same thing. I said to myself, "I'm quitting forever" But I thought, "hey, it wasn't desyncing for the people at the forums" so I downloaded that file, and it worked. Am still recovering from minor heart attack D: (not really)

Kine does swim fast. though he swims super fast in the rooms in stage 5 since there is a current. I had to redo this room hundreds of times so I could stay in the current the whole time. And yes, Poor Gooey. I personally hate that character, so I don't mind killing him for fun :D Well, the only thing I did that looked cooler in the first acro fight was after I hit him the first time, I jumped and glided down with the Parasol before hitting him. I guess it was still neat, but I liked the first one better. Though the first one was about 8 frames slower, so that's okay that I improved it. Thanks for checking it out. That pleases me. :)

World 2 complete! The Acro fight doesn't look quite as cool as my first version of it (it always desyncs on the first room of the next level the first time for some reason. then it works after that) I have supplied a save state so you don't have to zap through world 1. Video link http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/227753032/Kirby%27s%20Dream%20Land%20thh%20%28U%29.smv Save state link http://rapidshare.com/files/70440612/Kirby_s_Dream_Land_3__U_.000.html World 2 was much trickier. stage 5 was the one that gave me the most trouble, and stage 6 wasn't too fun to plan out either. Acro went really well, it was slightly faster than the first version, but less cool looking (as mentioned above) There were also two occasions were I couldn't use my "get an ability and go through a door" trick in this world for two different reasons. I did a neat trick whilst watering the flowers in the first level, and did a lot of neat jumping on and into bad guys. The scrolling screen in stage 3 wasn't that cool looking, but the one in stage 4 was much better. Captain Stitch mini boss went well too. I had to get off Kine where I did to manipulate what he was going to do for his starting attack. Also used the inhaling manipulation a lot. World 3 is going to be hard since it is the world with the most evil and awkward level designs, and that is the world that the enemy "Pteran" starts appearing. Pteran are those purple bat birds that fly on an angle. Perhaps the easiest thing to get hit by in Nintendo history.

well, like I said, I got through that place pretty quickly for the one player route, so I'm pleased with that. I'm also pleased to say I've devised a clever plan for fighting acro.

Thanks. I'm actually pleased I had to redo that level since I was able to improve one of the rooms significantly. Whenever there is a current in water, you have to swim in it the whole time. I hope I can finish this run too. the room where I would have used two players actually turned out really well considering what has to be done with one player. Some weird thing happened while jumping off of a guy in the water that gave me a longer jump. Don't know if it saved any time, but it looked neat. I'm sad to say though, that the part of the level I'm at now, is the beginning of really hard stuff for quite some time. there's one level and a boss after where I am until I get to world 3, Sand Canyon. Sand Canyon is by far the world I've planed the least on. The last level in that world is especially tricky since there are several paths you have to go, and I need to sort out what the best order to go to them is. So I may be procrastinating a bit. I think if I were to do another run after this, it would probably be the same run, seeing if I could improve it. I know that the final boss is going to be a nightmare. (of course there are like, three final bosses) :P

Sorry blublu. I just had a rough night last night. that's all. Sorry if I was a bit crude with ya. :) I guess I'll just not use the player two since there are a lot of places he could help, and it would make things confusing. I'll just continue on as one player. I'm still a bit messed up today though. I'm having my 20 year old cat put down today. I've had her my whole life, so it's quite a shock. I'll continue on with my run still. I am full aware that it might not get published (which would really suck) so I'm trying my best to make it interesting. My question has been answered. Thanks.

the reason for my making a one player run is because this is my very first tas, and one can hardly expect my first one to be two player. I'm seriously considering quitting though. These comments haven't been too much help to me in the motivation department.

http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/216522824/Kirby%27s%20Dream%20Land%20hj%20%28U%29.smv This is what I use him for. While making this short clip, I made a recording mistake and now have to redo half of a level. All I do is have gooey take the fish and use his warping to take the fish past the small path that would take an extra minute or two to do normally. I then use his A button to kill himself. Player two uses a total of 2 buttons in two levels. Player two only presses 4 buttons through out the whole run. Does that still count as two player? I don't even have him move around. 4 buttons hardly qualifies for a 2 player run catagory compared to what a real two player run would be like. And I've already decided to do it this way anyways now. I will now have to redo half a level just because I made that clip.
