My biggest issue with this run is that it is 2 players for absolutely no reason. Killing the 2nd player every single time wastes time, and only makes the run 2 player in 'theory' but not in execution. Honestly, I'd vote a weak yes on a movie with only night crawler. However, as it stands, the inclusion of player 2 just feels sloppy.
From the submission:
and then a second player or the AI controls another X-Men character.
Single player would have been much, much slower.

So, you walk through walls to get directly where you need to go, and never fight anything? Sorry, no vote.

Though I am not familiar with the game, this looks well played, and encounters seem to have been well manipulated too. I vote yes. Is this our first Wii submission, by the way? And is the tasability of this game an exception, or is Dolphin good enough to tas many games now?
It is the third wii sibmision, for the second game. Gamecube controller recording seems to sync perfectly now, after Nitsuja made some fixes 2 weeks ago. I played through this entire game without a single desync, and others are reporting the same thing. Unfortunately, wiimote recording has only been available for a few weeks (thanks again to Nitsuja), so naturally it's not working so well right now. However gamecube games, and wii games that can be played with a gc controller all seem to be tasable now. Do note that the save state fix that fixed the desync problem is not yet available in the main branch, but you can get it from the dolphin thread.

Something I find highly annoying when TASing, is when you load a save state you won't automatically appear at that point in the game, but have to press frame advance once in order to do so. Does it have to be like this...?
With the more-save-fixes branch, save states are saved/loaded immediately, though the screen still doesn't update until you unpause/frame advance.

Sometimes you would enter an area, leave it immediately, and then reenter it. Was that for encounter manipulation?
Indeed.

I would think the deaths taken to save time would, by itself, disqualify the run from no-damage status (as, obviously, dying requires taking damage >_>;).
As i mentioned in the submission text, i chose not to do that.

They do do damage though. You'll notice that i do not get the completely unscathed bonus because of it. Regardless, it's not really important. If it gets published, it can go in whatever category is deemed appropriate.

any plans to do a Kisuke run?
I don't intend to, but it's possible i may eventually do in the future. Honestly though, it's not really much different from this, which is already a bit boring at times because of all the running around, so i don't really see much need for it.

Isn't it 2^(60*8), or 2^480? Though even that number is huge: approximately 3.12E144 (3.12 x 10^144) according to my Windows 7 calculator.
Yeah, not sure why i read that as 80.

do you take into account that the emulator can be speeded up 1000%, thus making it 1000 times faster.
1000% is only 10 times faster, which doesn't even make much difference here.
also, the computer law of exponential increase of things keeps increasing
That would be moore's law, and that trend will only continue for another few years or so.
you already have 2^(60*8) possible sequences
how do you calculate that on a calculator? when i multiplied 60*8*256, i only got 122880.
^ indicates an exponent. It's 2^(60*80) power. Or 2^4800.

To be fair, TASes are one of the more popular things searched for on Nico, and the way things are ranked means you'll just get even more views once you break the top 100 for a category. It is currently 21st most popular for games, 50th for the combined culture rating. You shouldn't expect similar views for something on YouTube since it won't get as much promotion. Also, the low quality may just have been because you were watching while the site was in economy mode?
Yeah, it doesn't really surprise me. And no, it's just terrible quality. Which is the entire reason i didn't bother uploading to nico myself.

Since nitsuja fixed everything a while back. No idea how well it syncs though.

Yeah, you obviously didn't watch act 5-7. I take damage, my hp drops to 0, i get knocked around as if i was dead, and then my hp goes back to 1, and i lose the completely unscathed bonus, numerous times.

Link to video http://www.megaupload.com/?d=G2EWE0NH I'm really upset with the travelling towards the end. Getting hit at 5:58 is slower by about 20 frames. Hitting the butterfly at 5:32 costs around a second. At 6:14, i jump too late, so i end up too far over, then at 6:18 i'm too far to the left, so the upwards slash aims at the butterfly, pulling me over to the left, costing around 40 frames total for that area. Unfortunately, when i went back to fix all this, i ended up getting an unavoidable fight in the area at 6:20, so it just ended up being slower, so there was nothing i could do about it that wasn't even slower :( I'm pretty happy with the boss though. Using earth hornet slows my damage down quite a bit compared to normal attacks, but it was necessary to stay alive while continuing to deal damage. It took some work, but i also got the two teleports it uses to stay close to where it was, so i'm pretty happy with that. Also, 'dat combo :D

Does wiimote recording actually work properly now without massive amounts of desyncing? For now, the only reasonable way to do it would be to use a joystick, but that's still going to be difficult to use with high precision. Otherwise you'll either need to give up, or maybe try bugging nitsuja or someone to code such an input method.

Holding A while in the air when you get hit (or if you get knocked into the air, or in very rare circumstances, it can be done while on the ground, but only with very precise timing), you won't take any damage at all, so long as your blade doesn't break. Or rather, you'll take damage, but then instantly recover it.

Holy shit. I expected this boss to take 2 weeks because of how much it relies on luck. Instead, i've been working on it for maybe 30 minutes, and he's down to his last health bar, has eaten me twice (i do about 4-5x more damage while inside his stomach), and he's done literally nothing but stand around while i attacked so far. With any luck, act 6 will be done shortly. After that, act 7 and 8 are both simple enough, and shouldn't take more than one or two days each. edit: managed to finish at around frame 182,300. The last health bar took longer than the first 3. Not sure how much i can really improve that, but i can probably shave off at least a few seconds, with better manipulation. I don't think i can get him to stop attacking altogether, but it's pretty easy to get him to use different attacks, allowing me to attack easier/more often. edit2: looks like i could get him to stop attacking. Saved 2.4k frames. Encode coming in a few hours, then i'm going right on to act 7.
